Thank you for your patience. I am happy that many people already shared their opinions. I will proceed to offer my perceptions on the issue. I will try to limit myself to the judeo christian paradigm, since that's what you are more familiar with. However, ultimately, all religions and paradigms are but human perspective and thus false. It could be that I proceed slowly and sequentially. Questions are welcomed, criticisms too. I do not offer the Truth, I only offer an opinion, to be adopted if found relevant, or rejected if otherwise.

In My opinion, there are several meanings to the word Satan/devil, and it is helpful to analyze them one after the other. Later on, I will deal with Lucifer.

The prime meaning of satan/devil in the general thinking is that of a powerful being that governs the kingdom of darkness. I do not believe there is such a being, for Darkness and Light are one and the same thing, differing only in degree but not in nature.

"In the beginning God [...] " Genesis 1:1

According to this passage, God in the judeo christian thought is the uncaused cause. That from which all proceeds, but itself proceeds from none/nothing. If everything, including Satan, proceeds from God, then there is in God, the root of everything that exists. It thus follows that if a being is fundamentally wicked and evil, and controls all the wickedness and evil of the Universe/multiverses, then that being must have taken the seed of evil from god itself. If such a being exists, it can only be God himself, at the end of the day. Let's go a bit deeper.

The Story is told in the hebrew bible about how David was led to number the children of Israel. This story is stated in 2 places of the scriptures:

2 Samuel 24:1 “Again the anger of the LORD was aroused against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, ‘Go, number Israel and Judah.’”

1 Chronicles 21:1: “Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.”

If those accounts are anything to go by, we are left with an intriguing biblical fact: God and satan seem to be one and the same person, or at least, work hand in hand. Interestingly, the account of Job's trial confirms this to be true.
