smartmom: I and my hubby are arts and humanity based graduates and I have started experiencing problems when trying to work out maths homework with my kids and now am seriously considering employing a maths teacher for these primary school kids but I have a real dilemma cos I have always abhorred the extra lesson teacher syndrome as I see them as Shylock (afterall what do we pay the school huge school fees for it they cannot impart all necessary knowledge during school hours?)

My sister in-law thinks if I put my mind to it and study the textbooks, I would be able to help my intelligent kids but to be honest,I have never liked maths much but pls dont let my kids hear this o! Can parents help me out here? Do I need to employ a maths coach for them?

younglawya: So, I was watching african voices wirh isha sesay and the first lady being interviewed addmitted that she was still learning english and thus replies were in her native language. Now, the question is, have we not villified and mocked dame patience for too long, at least, she speaks english even though with a vernacular tone and its expressions
