It is disappointing to see primary school ego trips overshadowing a national budget defense.
We need leaders focused on infrastructure KPIs, not who has the 'Principal' title or higher vote counts. Nigeria wins when the work is done, not when egos are fed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_tBhTBzCnQ Senators Onyekachi Peter Nwaebonyi (Ebonyi North) and Rufai Sani Hanga (Kano Central - NNPP) clash during an budget defence with the Minister for Works, Dave Umahi.
The altercation commenced when Senator Nwaebonyi felt he was allocated lesser time to extol the performance of the Works Minister, compared to the time frame Senators Oshiomhole and Ndume did have.
Nwaebonyi: I can preside over you in this meeting. Hanga: You can't, I am a Principal Officer of the Senate, you are only boot licking your boss Nwaebonyi: I can, I am in the ruling Party, you are under me. Hanga: I was elected with votes more than 10 times yours.
Hanga is the Deputy Minority Whip of the Senate whilst Nwaebonyi was Ebonyi PDP Chairman when Umahi was Governor and defected alongside with him in 2020
Lateef died for Jojo’s 'update,' now Jojo is using that same update to flex in the hood. Las las, 'Protector' don go, 'Investor' dey enjoy. Person wey die na him loss. This life no get manual, just get sense!
Saleslourd: I was in JSS 3 when it went down. Our hood had a “tough guy”: Lateef. Big, loud, always flexing—“nobody messes with my crew,” he’d say.
Then came the day the Yahoo boy messed up.
This boy let’s call him Jojo had scammed some foreigners in a 419. Cashed out, vanished. But the people he scammed? They weren’t random. They were local boys, younger than me, who’d “invested” in Jojo’s “business.” So they showed up, shouting for Jojo “give us our money!
Lateef heard the noise, stormed out. “Who the hell you yelling at in my compound?” he barked. The boys told him straight: “We ain’t here for you—we want Jojo.” But Lateef, ever the “protector,” wouldn’t back down. “You touch my boy, you touch me,” he said. And with that, he went for a fight.
That’s when the knives came out.
The boys didn’t hold back. They stabbed Lateef—again, again, again—till he crumpled. His last move? Clinging to the youngest attacker’s leg, desperate, as life drained out. By the time they got him to the hospital after first dragging him to the police, he was gone.
The next day, The Punch ran it: “Tough Man Killed by Youths.” But here’s the kicker no paper mentioned: Jojo didn’t even show up. He vanished that day. And now? He’s back. Walks our hood, laughs with the same crew, like nothing happened.
Lateef’s grave’s overgrown. His family still cries. But Jojo? Free.
That’s the lesson I carry: Life’s not fair. Power’s a lie. And sometimes, the ones who start the fire don’t even get singed.
Protect you. Because in the end, nobody’s coming to save you—least of all the ones you’re trying to protect.

SpencerForbes: It’s either you’re them or you just have enough time to even think of doing this. It would have been more profitable if you’d used it to watch YouTube videos. How did you even come up with this thoughts? 😳
