NYSCAfter Call Up Letter, What Is Next? by corper365(op): 7:09pm On Nov 20, 2016
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU GET YOUR CALL UP LETTER..

I learnt the callup letter will be out this new week..and quickly to Avoid unnecessary mistakes, I would want to give you some tips on how to Package yourself to the Orientation camp..

1. All You Need to Print Your call up letter is the email you used in Registering at the NYSC portal and your Password.. ( I doubt if NYSC will send your callup to your email)

2. Print the Original copy, (twice) make photocopies as much as possible.. (MAKE Photocopies of All your documents because it's expensive in camps)

3. Rearrange Your documents.. What you need to take with you are : CALLUP LETTER, GREEN CARD, STATEMENT OF RESULT,OR ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE, PASSPORT, ID CARD,JAMB REGISTRATION NUMBER, please make sure ur statement of result carries your school stamp..

4. Put all these documents in a water resistant file and seal properly.. DO NOT LAMINATE YOUR GREEN CARD OR CALLUP LETTER..

5. Pack few stuffs please.. Don't give yourself unnecessary stress .. Basic things to pack should be YOUR WHITES,WHITE SHORT,WHITE TENNIS SHOES, POUCH,TORCHLIGHT, MOSQUITO NET,ONE OR TWO CASUAL WEARS,SOAP,ANTI-MALARIA DRUGS,BED SPREAD,DETERGENT, CREAM,POWER BANK,CASH AND ATM CARD,SOCKS,ETC..
You don't need much loads..cos after camp..you are given 3 weeks terminal leave from your PPA..which you are go home and get set for your primary assignment..

6. Find people you are posted to same state, state create a WhatsApp group and talk about when to leave and how to go.. If anyone suits your schedule you both can meet up at the Bustop and move.. That is why this group is created.. Once you get your callup letter.. Indicate the state You are posted to here and meetup with people of same state..

7 PLEASE check your date of deployment very well to avoid mistakes.. Stream 2 thinking they are stream 1.

8. Safety, a lot of Corp members have gone due to road accident and the likes..you really don't have to blame NYSC.. out transportation system is messed up.. Look carefully at the bus you are to travel with and know the kind of driver that is going to drive you and MOST ESPECIALLY PRAY TO SAFE JOURNEY..

DROP YOUR QUESTIONS.. thank you

I do hope that those of you prospective christian corpers will escape the depravity of this world that's at the culmination of lustful heights especially as exhibited in camp during your orientation exercise. Based on experience the immorality among corps members during this time is something else. It is just too outlandish. That you will show and help your unbelieving corper colleagues to Jesus to salvage them from the crushing torrents of this world.

NYSCDrink IQ @ NYSC Orientation Camps by corper365(op): 10:53am On Nov 07, 2016
Drink IQ training for corpers by Guinness

Guinness Nigeria Plc said it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to take its responsible drinking campaign to every part of the country.

A statement by the company’s Corporate Communications Manager, Mr Olayinka Edmond, on Sunday in Abuja said the MoU signed at NYSC Headquarters was entitled “DrinkIQ Campaign’’

He said that the company appreciated that alcohol was not an ordinary commodity, adding that alcohol consumed moderately and responsibly by adults who chose to drink could be part of a balanced lifestyle.

According to him, Guinness is also aware that misuse of alcohol can cause serious problems for individuals, communities and the society.

According to the managing director, the initiative is built around providing consumers with information, promoting rigorous company and industry standard for responsible marketing, supporting effective programmes and partnership.

“This is to promote alcohol education and to tackle misuse by advocating effective evidence-based policy.

“In line with our commitment to creating awareness about responsible drinking, Guinness Nigeria will be partnering NYSC to deliver Drink IQ training sessions, targeted at corps members and ultimately, the general
public.

“Our intent is to start with train-the trainers programme where these trainers will in turn train other people who will be advocates in their places of primary assignments.

“Guinness will begin this training with the officials of NYSC drawn from 36 states of the federation who will in turn facilitate these sessions in orientation camps across the country,’’ he said.

Kazaure commended the initiative and
expressed optimism that the programme would be seen in the right perspective by every community.

NYSCNiger State Honors 10 Corpers In 2015 Batch B POP by corper365(op): 10:41am On Nov 07, 2016
NYSC 2015 BATCH B STREAM 2 POP.

The Niger State government on Friday rewarded 10 corps members with state awards at the passing out parade of the 2015 Batch B stream two of the scheme in Minna, the state capital. While presenting the awards, Governor Abubakar Bello, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman, NYSC state governing board, Mr. Isah Ibrahim, said the gesture was in fulfilment of the governor’s promise to reward corps members who distinguished themselves in their various places of primary assignment. Bello, who instituted the award at the inception of his administration, said the corps members also contributed “immensely” to the development of the state in their various fields. The governor specially commended a corps member, Dr. Uwaezuoke Ikesinachi, from Abia State for using his profession as a medical doctor to touch the lives of many through free eye surgery, free glaucoma screening for the staff of General Hospital, Minna and free eye screening for all police drivers and other paramilitary agencies. Eight other corps members were also given letters of commendation for their contributions to the development of the state during their service year. He also announced N3,000 token to each corps member as transport money to their various homes, stressing that the welfare of corps members remained a priority to the incumbent administration. Meanwhile, seven other corps members were not lucky as they were made to repeat the programme for absconding during their service year.

NYSCMaximizing Your Time @ Nysc by corper365(op): 4:05am On Nov 04, 2016
5 ways to maximize your time at NYSC

(1) JOIN THE OBS

The Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS) is a great way to serve while in the camp. A very important unit of the camp, it will offer you opportunities to not only develop your editorial and media skills, you will get to know the key officers in the camp. It also gives you a measure of authority and allows you to get an exemption from some of the camp activities which you may be averse to.

(2) RUN A SMALL BUSINESS

You can actually make money while at the orientation camp. You can offer services such as hair dressing or laundry to others in the camp who need them for a fee or you can rent a stall at the Mami market and sell food items which most corpers need from day to day. It is a great way to hone your business skills before you are launched into the labour market.

(3) DO AN ONLINE COURSE

The orientation period does not have to be all activities and socializing, you can further develop yourself on the side by registering and going through a short online course during your stay. The good thing about online learning is that it is flexible so you can actually plan it around the time that you will be leaving the camp.

(4) SOCIALIZE AND ACTUALLY MEET NEW PEOPLE

The NYSC scheme was originally established to encourage oneness among citizens in the country and promote national unity. By sending these individuals to other states, the
expectation is that they mix with people of other tribes, social and family backgrounds and learn the culture of the indigenes in the place they are posted. Rather than sticking to yourself all through the orientation process, use your spare time to actually fraternize and get to know the people in your platoon and camp as a whole. You would be surprised how many new things you will learn about Nigeria and what connections you may make for the future.

(5) START APPLYING FOR JOBS

The orientation period is not too early a time to start sending out your CVs to potential employers. The NYSC orientation can actually serve as an avenue for corpers to share job information and career resources, so take advantage of that and start early.

NYSCNeeded Info On Nysc by corper365(op): 3:51am On Nov 01, 2016
The NYSC Orientation Programme is the most crucial part of the National Youth Service Scheme in Nigeria. It was originally a full month exercise but has been gradually reduced first to 21 and now to 16 days duration. It is a moment most youths look forward to, while a few have a different perception to the great Programme until they find themselves in the Camp, since its a compulsory programme. Despite the not too comfortable circumstances at
the Orientation Camp, they later love the moments and i want to assure you that your own story will not be different. It will turn out to be one of the best experiences and moments you will NEVER forget in your life time.

NYSCWhat Would You Do? by corper365(op): 6:27pm On Oct 29, 2016
What are you gonna do?..

You got to camp & a short man mistakenly stepped on you but due to the anger that the queue & hot sun have triggered in you, you slapped the man & the man said sorry.

First parade commenced, you are standing in the front row right in front of the man & you got to find out that the man is the military personnel in charge of the camp.

He called out your name which he has gotten through your registration process with whip & bouncing soldiers with him..

What would you do?

(1) Pretend as if you didn't hear your name
(2) Faint
(3) Run away
(4) Change you name
(5) Disappear
