NYSC ROLLS OUT CONDITIONS FOR PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS. Speaking at the inauguration of the National Selection Committee, in Abuja, the Director General of the Scheme, Brig-General Sulaiman Kazaure said any corps member who requested for relocation, concessional deployment, served in their state of origin, utilised personal or family funds to execute the projects were disqualified from the process. He explained that the award was instituted in 1974 as a means of rewarding corps members who offered exemplary service to the nation during their service year, telling the committee that “you will be saddled with the onerous task of selecting award winners from the 2014 Batch ‘C’ and 2015 batch ‘A’ nominees.” The DG urged the committee to ensure fairness and justice in the selection process by adhering to the criteria meant for the process. “I am confident that your experience as administrators with proven track record of integrity will be brought to bear on this challenging task,” he said. The Director, Corps Welfare and Inspection, Mrs. Victoria Okakwu said that the scheme had painstakingly prepared brief on every nominee and gone further to verify claims for the State and Federal secretariats. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL 2016 BATCH B STREAM 1 POP is Today Proceed to your PPA and then NYSC Area or Local Office. Let it not happen that you carry your bags and travel home after the NYSC orientation camp without reporting at your PPA and NYSC area office for your registration except you have been redeployed. The fact is, you're not yet a full corper until you've reported in those two places. Tender your posting letter at your PPA and collect and acceptance letter which you'll use for your registration at the NYSC area office. And if you're rejected by your PPA, it's not a problem, just make sure the same PPA gives you a rejection letter. You'll take the letter to the NYSC area office and they know what to do. Your PPA is expected to offer you accommodation and in some cases some monthly remuneration. Sort this out with your boss after you might have been accepted. You can also apply to travel for two weeks after your acceptance through your PPA to the NYSC office. Make sure you complete your registration before you travel, else alawe will hang. After settling with your PPA and registration and accommodation, the next thing is to plan how the service year would look like and even life after service. Congrats fellow Corpers. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WARNS AGENCIES AGAINST REJECTING CORPS MEMBERS The Federal Government has directed all Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to accept Corps members posted to them by the National Youth Service Corps. Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engineer Babachir David Lawal, conveyed the directive in a circular to the MDAs. The circular, with reference number SGF.15/T/ 745, reads in part: “Government’s attention has been drawn to the growing incidence of rejection of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to government establishments. “To put an end to this undesirable development, it has become necessary to reiterate that the directive that Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) should not reject Youth Corps members posted to them for their primary assignment is still in force.” Engineer Lawal said the government’s directive was imperative in order to maintain the objective of the NYSC Scheme, which includes the involvement of Nigerian graduates of specific age category in national development and integration. He says government establishments are also directed to ensure that the Corps members are actively engaged during their primary assignment just as the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports through the National Youth Service Corps is expected to monitor the level of compliance and give periodic reports to the government. /corper365 |
