The recent declaration by Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, wife of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, to contest for the Anambra South Senatorial district seat is currently unsettling stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, Thas gathered.

Mrs Ojukwu had a week ago declared her intention to run for the senatorial position, even though there have been rumours that she had previously secured the backing of some leaders of the party to clinch the APGA ticket.

Justice Slyvanus Oriji of the High Court of the FCT sitting in Apo has granted Senator Dino Melaye bail to the tune of N5m with two sureties.

In his ruling he said one of the sureties must be a a director of the civil service.

“One of the sureties must be a director in the civil service residing in the FCT and must deposit an affidavit of means”

The 37 members of the House of Representatives who defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday said "victimization and criminalization of APC members with divergent views" made them dump the party.


A cross-section of the defectors led by Razak Atunwa (now PDP, Kwara) said they had joined the APC in 2014 because they believed in its change and progressive ideals, which according to him, is now derailed as the party is set to the path of "self-destruct."

The Ekiti State Governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi, has warned the management of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, to stop working with the incumbent governor, Ayodele Fayose, to embark on “illegal mass employment” at the college in favour of supporters of the state government.

Buruji Kashamu, senator representing Ogun east, has rejected his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The party did not give any reason for the action.

Reacting to the development via a statement, Kashamu said he remains a member of the PDP “whether anybody likes or not.”

He said the party did not follow due process in expelling him.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday transmits letter to the senate to re-allocate N164,104,792, 65 in the 2018 budget for the expenses of the 2019 election.

This was contain in a letter read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki the president said the lawmakers should provide the fund through “virement or supplementation.”
