It would depend on the purpose and the time horizon.
In the short-term, the dollar is not expected to be too strong because of some domestic issues in the US, geopolitics etc
In the long run, I would favour the dollar as the naira may be affected by various factors e.g. if US raises their interest rates, if govt revenue or oil price/volume goes down, which may force govt to devalue, socio-economic instability, etc
What are the chances of those if happening?
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by crownprince2017: 1:05pm On Feb 09
mikeapollo:
Are you aware of the purpose and how long (time horizon) for which the person is holding the dollars.
What would you say if for instance, the person is hoarding the dollars to pay future school fees in 20230 and it gets to N1,800 by then?
Nobody can predict with certainty, hence no one should boast or sound condescending or derogatory
I think the argument should be the reason for the dollar coming down based on the people that believed it was not achievable then.
Is it being defended or it's just fundamental which was the basis of arguments then.

Personally, would you rather bet on Dollar or against the dollar today.

Wema Bank is not getting its deserved attention.

That stock should be on full bid.

Excellent result from Wema Bank.
Na access no allow am move it's just a matter of time...once access releases their results, everyone will know where they belongs to.

If access releases a better result both will move but if otherwise, wema will just over take just like she does to fcmb last year.

Any either ways, wema will benefit.

I don't think because people want to open a trading account is a primary sign of a bubble.

We should be guided by price of stock being the function of earnings, large deviation from this should specify a problem that must be explain by other factors which must be logical. illogical explanations should be enough for an informed investor to stay away from such companies.

Singing bubble at any slight opportunity make the market looks as a difficult game and chase people away.

I'm with you on this. Results are proving what I suspected. There economy is recovering but the market (excluding zenith and access bank) is over priced.

Correction loading
Correction is part of the game, you can never say when it will come, stop making it look as if it's a bad thing. Infact, to some of us, it tell us how healthy the market is.
Let the correction come...

If VFD group was able to raise the full 50b via the right issue and used the money as planned 2026 will be a banger.
Their ebitda tell an interesting story.
It's going to be more juicy if the interest rate cut happens steadily or aggressively.
grin grin grin

This is my second call this year after fidson as they both faced similar problems in 2025.

In the context of the example though, Agba wouldn't cause kasala, he would simply call AIICO to claim his N250m, pa Emma too would claim N250m on thesame car.

AIICO not wanting that kind of N500m shege would have reinsured the risk.

That's why AIG took such heavy beating.
Aiico no go leave sboga ooo, them go collect their money from him.

I remember his GUINNESS vs GUINEAINS episode na.

How am I sure the broker could read his email, why would they not buy the wrong thing 😁😁😁

Maybe that was what the broker could finally discern after staring at the email for 7 hours.

Same way, if he texts his driver to brake, and the driver can't make out what he types, how would he to accelerate instead, there goes Agba's tail light and rear bumper!
Agba don suffer. grin grin grin

The driver supposed use Google interpreter na before bashing agba car na..abi that one too no understand sboga pidgin.. grin grin

Pa Emma,
You know Agba can buy an insurance from AIICO, pays annual premium, then when sboga bashes his car, AIICO would pay him.

Now, imagine you walking up to AIICO and saying that you want to buy insurance against Agba's car getting hit, then AIICO thinks, since Agba always parks his car in his compound, you're basically paying them free premium for an accident that would never happen, so they create a new insurance product for you.

That's the story of credit default swaps.

I look forward to when our markets will have such depth. (Likely after you and Agba have retired 😁😁😁)
Which kind example be this like this...

Sboga n agba bawo.... grin grin

Lol, which part is imagination? And yes, it can happen to any stock, but some stocks are more prone to it when current news and events are unfavorable.

I attached the GTCO chart, look at the drop inside the box (ignore my poor drawing skills). It looks small now after the recovery and subsequent trend, but at the time many people here were complaining until whoever was selling had exhausted their supply.
Since you agreed with me then no more argument. cool
