One own-goal and one penalty was more than enough to condemn Nigeria to defeat against Croatia in their opening game of the 2018 World Cup on Saturday in Kaliningrad.

It was not the start Gernot Rohr and his players had hoped for, but it was one they deserved as familiar failings returned to haunt the team in a performance that was as lethargic as it was painful.

A mentally disabled man known as 'Pastor' was ''healed'' by an evangelist in Ikole local government area of Ekiti state on Saturday.

According to Victor Moyo from Ekiti, who shared the story, the man had been roaming the street of Ikole-Ekiti got over ten years. After his alleged healing, he was given a bath and haircut and later identified himself as Adekunle Akomolafe from Akure.

The Senator representing Delta North senatorial district, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, has provided the real reason for the face-off between the executive and the legislature.

According to the lawmaker, the fight between the two arms was as a result of the National Assembly’s resolve to resist the emergence of a dictator in the governance of Nigeria.

Addressing reporters in Asaba, Nwaoboshi noted that the country cannot relapse into dictatorship again.

The Nigeria Police has dismissed speculations that the gang leaders of the Offa bank robbery, with alleged links to Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State, have been killed in custody.

Although other suspects were paraded two weeks ago, nothing has been heard of their superiors – Micheal Adikwu, a dismissed policeman, and Kayode Opadokun.

The two have not been allowed to speak publicly or paraded despite being in detention.

Troops deployed in operation IDON RAINI while on clearance patrol along Maganda-Funtua road at the weekend rescued eight hostages who were earlier kidnapped along Maganda-Sofo Birnin-Gwari road.

According to Texas Chukwu, Director Army Public Relations, among the rescued victims were: three men, two women, three children.

Also, items recovered from the bandits included: one red Golf car, one trailer, two boxes of clothes belonging to one of the passengers.

Police in Imo State have arrested 23-year-old Blessing Chukwu, who sold her 3-week-old baby girl, along with the alleged buyer, 40-year-old Chinasa Okpara.

Other alleged accomplices, Mrs Puphemia Omende and her husband, Kelechi, a medical practitioner, were also arrested.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) in a statement have declared that instead of suing Falz to court, they would report him to appropriate agencies.

Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Abia State, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, has said that Ndigbo will return Buhari as president in 2019 in order to woo his support for Igbo presidency in 2023.

Nwankpa who stated this during the inauguration of the 17 local government chairman of the party in Umuahia, explained APC is determined to win elections in the state in 2019 to end what he described as ‘era of mediocrity, squander mania and bad governance.’
