FoodRe: Average Daily Cost Of A Healthy Diet (cohd) By State In Nigeria by Crzbshp: 7:21pm On Oct 21, 2025
I'm guessing this only factors in buying the ingredients and nothing else. Once you account for the cooking, either gas or even charcoal, the transport, and the time spent, I would guess it would double or triple at the very least, if not more.

Therefore taking the most generous estimate from the cheapest state, it would cost a minimal person at least 72,000 naira per month to eat adequately.
1,200 x 2 = 2,400
2,400 x 30 = 72,000

This is only for food for a single person in the cheapest state. Consider this person also has to transport themselves to and from work, pay for utilities such as light and water and numerous other things. What if this person has a family or dependents, what if they or someone they love falls sick or gets injured, how much money would they spend.

Now think how much the minimum wage is and how insufficient it already is. Some people will still say it is easy to survive in this country.

If you know history very well,
Then you should know what exactly happened.
What was the aftermath of that stunt?
It was ugly and widely criticize.
You should know that other people also are privilege to history.
Since that incident, did it ever repeat itself again?
Oga do your fact check.
Yes it has happened several times in the history of the Catholic Church.
The longest time to choose a new Pope was over three years. A few reforms were made to the process. A little later it then took two years.
Sill in the last couple of centuries it has taken anywhere from months to days.
Please check and don't just assume.

grin People don't understand that the word 'Nepotism' originated in the Catholic church & the word 'Godfatherism' was inspired by the book/movie Godfather which was itself inspired by the Catholic church. Na dem be the baba for rigging, they invented it.

Las las the Pope will never be a non Italian and will most likely be from Naples or Florence.
You say this when the Pope who just died is from Argentina and the previous two popes were Saint Pope John Paul II of Poland and Pope Benedict XVI of Germany.
Nigerans and conspiracy theories no be here.
PoliticsRe: Sanwo-Olu Celebrates Tunde Onakoya’s Historic 64-Hour Chess Marathon Record by Crzbshp: 9:39pm On Apr 25, 2025
clefstone:
you are correct about the ranking/rating thing but that itself shows that Mr Onakoya is not a Chess master. He is a good Chess player, yes but that's it. I would appreciate it if you would enlighten me about what's great about his GWR
His chess ELO means that he is not just good, he's one of the best in the world.
For context from 0 - 800 ELO are considered beginners 801 - 1300 lower intermediate, 1301 - 1800 high intermediate, 1801 - 2000 experts and 2001 and above is where you'll likely find most titled players ie those called international master (IM), FIDE master (FM) and Grand master (GM).
The reason his achievement is good is simply because playing chess is incredibly taxing to the mind and to play it at that level, even more so. Simply the act of staying active for so long is already a difficult thing to do talk less of adding such a task on it.
What he did also created a surge in interest in the Nigerian chess world, and his actions will motivate many young people to get into the mentally stimulating game.
Achievements such as these which require actual effort, sacrifice and intelligence has to be supported and celebrated to combat the decline in intellectual decline in this country.
I would rather see him being recognized for this rather than someone spending three months in a house partying.
Again let us celebrate those who do well, no matter how small you think their achievements are.
They might be bigger than you knew.

This is celebration of mediocrity just as the Hilda Baci's underwhelming record that has since been broken and rebroken by others within a short period.

This man is not the best chess player in Nigeria, has never been the best chess player in Nigeria and his peak world ranking is #2197(according to Wikipedia). Like Baci, his record is basically staying up for long hours doing a particular stuff. It's not genius and it can be broken the next week by anyone that can do that stuff and is willing to stress themselves for 3 days (someone holds a record for hugging trees)

I am not hating but that these unstimulating records get so much national attention and high end recognition from a governor tells a lot about us - and it isn't good
Please what's your chess ELO that gives you such authority on this topic.
Your comment is so hilariously wrong I really don't know where to start.

1. You say his highest rating from Wikipedia is 2197 and claim that is mediocre. MY GUY if that was true do you know how good you have to be to be rated that high against literal billions of people? That would literally put him above 99.9% percent of people on the whole globe.
Also, that rating isn't his ranking as you said. It's his rating. ELO ratings function differently from ranking with the higher number denoting better ability in the case of an ELO rating. For context Magnus Carlson, the number one chess player right now and some say the best ever, had a peak rating of around 2882. To be only around 700 points behind someone considered the greatest of all time in something is very much a great achievement.

2. Saying someone else can do what he did and therefore he shouldn't be celebrated is a disingenuous and terrible argument. If it was so easy, why didn't someone do it earlier.
If for example you fight off people trying to kidnap your family and get injured, does that mean we shouldn't celebrate you because someone else can and has already done that? No you would deserve your plaudits for your achievement same as him. Whenever his record is broken, that person should also be celebrated even if someone subsequently breaks it again.

Please don't just dismiss someones efforts when you don't know where they have come from and what they had to do to get where they are.

Bless
