When did you see a date for November 24? there hasn't been a date for nov 24
nainennie:
Reschedule and book a closer date. If u are in lagos, there is a date for Nov 2024.

please what date are you people seeing for the lagos post?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 11:32am On Nov 04, 2024
Honestly? I paid again and chose Abuja, which was approved in 2 days. You can select lagos or abuja after you pass the pre approval stage. Did you try sending the emails that are mentioned in the links from the thread?

Lagos - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdMSMzJmoYVaxf-obif6_AaMIT4fbxpIvLEkPW84ISGSwSkIg/viewform
Abuja - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc1wt8xb3LubFFSlvlLUNi3HOnIcZxquaZyClg3Y3HxlSWbXQ/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0

For disclosure, I did not need to use them to get pre-approved.

Vicky21003:
You finally got through the pre approval stage? How long did it take please. I’ve been waiting for two weeks now
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 9:58am On Nov 04, 2024
Is anyone applying for Lagos seeing anything open before May 2025? Also, does anyone know if, with this new system, it is possible to see an earlier date and scheduling? Has that happened to anyone?

It looks like if you apply for an expedited appointment and it's rejected, it blocks you from even accessing/looking at any earlier months.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 2:05pm On Oct 31, 2024
Did you get the email that said pre-approval was approved or did you just on your page and you saw it there?

zinachidi:
My pre approval didn't take more than 45 mins (Lagos) on Tuesday. I guess it's luck, cos I'm seeing people saying it took weeks. The Koko now is getting date. Earliest date I saw was 10 January 2025 by 6:45 am, but when I try to click it, it says slot is already taken. Same with other dates I saw. If the slot is already taken , so why is it green then? Same with other dates I try to take. Because I want to pick a date first then apply for expedited appointment to get date in November or maybe early December.

Has anyone experienced this? How do I go about it and know available slots

Are you a first time applicant or are you trying for a renewal?
00uwa:
At all oo, I dont know what is wrong
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 11:12am On Oct 30, 2024
deees, question please were you applying for a renewal or are you a first time applicant? Also for your abuja profile, did you get an email that said your preapproval was approved?
deees:
So I got pre-approval request approved for the second profile for Abuja. There are no dates in Abuja, Lagos has January dates but of course, one can apply for expedited appointment after choosing a date. I don't think it is smart to wait for AVIST shenanigans and Lagos application tho, it's in the news that the embassy knows about it now. https://businessday.ng/news/article/us-embassy-says-addressing-challenges-of-nigerian-visa-applicants/

was this lagos or abj please
Dannneee:
Took about two weeks. Had a number of chats with heir customer care and was told to be patient everytime. Eventually it worked after about two weeks.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 8:32am On Oct 28, 2024
please have you passed the preapproval stage yet?
00uwa:
Abj
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 8:31am On Oct 28, 2024
nope.
ajibola0908:
Did you get anything back since?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 11:41am On Oct 25, 2024
Did you pay with a card. and are you seeing preapproval processing? if your answers to the above are both yes, you may be stuck in that stage like a couple of us have. You may be better off paying a new fee and starting all over again like some have mentioned. Check the thread

TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 6:45am On Oct 22, 2024
Yes, your sevis is not tied to your course. You can also ask your school directly if that will make you more comfortable.

Jacsabey:
Good evening
Please is it possible to use SERVIS fee pay for a particular course for another course in the same school...

Let me explain you already pay for a SERVIS fee and book visa interview successfully but the school message you ND there is a need for you to choose between changing course or deferred the admission, so you decided to change course... So the question is can someone change the details of the SERVIS fee registration and use it after another i-20 has been issued by the school but the SERVIS no didn't change.. Thanks
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 6:43am On Oct 22, 2024
Thank you!
deees:
Yes, you can pick from either embassy. As I said, there were no regular dates for Abuja even though my payment was for Abuja. I picked a Lagos regular date and when the expedited appointment was approved, I picked for Abuja because I can't have waited for 46 days since 30 August, 2024, paid a new MRV and still go through the stress of Lagos. But for either expedited or normal appointment, you are at liberty to pick any embassy as long as the confirmation page of your visa application is with you, you are good to go.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 4:59pm On Oct 21, 2024
Question please how were you able to see dates for both lagos and abuja? if you started the process with abuja do you still have the option to pick a date for lagos?
deees:

TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 10:57am On Oct 18, 2024

TonyNwoye:

Are you in the uk on a visitor's visa?
liliberth:
Visa approved. Applied from uk.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 1:49pm On Oct 16, 2024
Nope, nobody, I tried sending emails and nothing even their Instagram page doesn't accept DMs

With this "pay again" rhetorics, I wish there's a government body we can turn to for help.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 1:48pm On Oct 16, 2024
I also got this email on Sept. 29th. Think it was a bug in their system that they have refused to address because they either don't know or don't care that it happened smiley
Abdgafarplenty:
Why is my application getting rejected ? any one can help ?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 1:44pm On Oct 16, 2024
Yikes, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think you would be moving past that stage. I hope you do, though please let us know if you do. A couple of us had the same problem and got a rejection email after waiting for about a month without explanation (we were all for Lagos). Some people had to pay another MRV and select Abuja. Good luck!

Also, please answer if you paid online on the AVIT portal with a card.

Abdgafarplenty:
Lagos
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 1:38pm On Oct 16, 2024
lol. that person just said that to get you off the phone. They DO NOT know what they are doing and even they don't know what is going on. The customer service agents just read off a script and they have no critical thinking skills. Don't hold your breath waiting on them.

deees:
For Lagos guys, I called and ranted for the avist people today and from the very vague information they provided, I can deduce that they changed their website from one service provider to another and it's been hard for them to get the payment confirmation and that they are working on it. So I guess you should create a ticket again and pray that they resolve the issue fast, they are clearly incompetent. I have tried to open a new account since, they are not sending verification email, they are clearly not ready and I hope information about this gets to the Embassy.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 8:32am On Oct 16, 2024
Was this for lagos or abuja?
Abdgafarplenty:
For me it's almost a month in the Pre-approval stage. No response yet from them. I created a ticket and they responded saying they're still doing pre approval on my applications.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 8:30am On Oct 16, 2024
Has anyone recently had an F1 visa appointment in Lagos? if yes, please
1) when did you pay?
2) How did you pay? Was it in the bank or with a card?
3) how long did pre-approval take?
4) did you get an appointment for this year?

Hoping to get an answer, please
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 3:09pm On Oct 11, 2024
OMG! this is the exact thing that happened to me too! and it was on a sunday evening september 29th leading me to believe it is something the system did!. the only difference here is that some days after the preapproval prompt, now when I click, I see the dialogue to pay again. smh

Timgreat31:
Thanks for your suggestion. Its one month since i paid my visa fee alrwady (September 9). I got a notification about the rejection on September 29. However, I clicked on the link in the notification (on AVITS portal) and the system requested that I reupload my I-20, which I did immediately, hoping it would a step towards scheduling. Shockingly, it returned to the old rhetoric of "preapproval request is being processed". That's what I have till now. Any tip that can helpnis welcome. Thanks.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 1:25pm On Oct 11, 2024
can you please confirm this part of your post

" Avit staffs at the embassy will ask you if u have DS-160 and appointment confirmation for Abuja , and now you’re in Lagos, form a separate que where they’re going to extract ur information before u proceed to go and thumbprint "

is this what you did?

Gretmang:
Fill a new DS-160. Pick Abuja. Go to usvisa.appt and open a new account with another email. Start the processing. However, where you’re going to encounter small issue is where you’ll enter ur passport number. If you enter your real passport number that you used for Lagos, it’ll say “duplicate account exist” what you’ll do is just to change one digit in your passport number and proceed. Your appointment confirmation will come out with this “tentative” passport number. It’s not an issue. So far your DS-160 confirmation page bear your real passport number, it’s okay. The embassy do not care. What they care about is that the data on your appointment confirmation is the date that you’re coming for the interview or dropping off your documents. And now that you have two DS-160, the one that matter is the latest one you’re taking to the embassy.

It took 24hrs after paying with my CC to approve and I was able to get date the same day.

In fact, if it turns out that you’re doing interview, you can chose Abuja and have it in Lagos. Avit staffs at the embassy will ask you if u have DS-160 and appointment confirmation for Abuja , and now you’re in Lagos, form a separate que where they’re going to extract ur information before u proceed to go and thumbprint ( thing is once you pass the “pre approval …..” stuff, it takes 24hrs, you can in fact select Lagos in the drop down and chose a date in Lagos if there are near dates, and then go to Lagos to have your interview.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 1:19pm On Oct 11, 2024
lol. What's ironic is that I went through the bank, and even AVIT confirms the said the payment is "active," i.e., it has not been used. It really is ridiculous when you think about it.
Gretmang:
Yeah. Discover, Amex or US bank credit card are quite good in fighting for their customer..lol. But it’s quite hard getting a refund from the US embassy, they’ll say you have used the MRV
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 1:00pm On Oct 11, 2024
Maybe its worth a shot to try going through my bank. If it was a US CC company, there is a higher chance it can be retrieved.
Gretmang:
You ain’t getting a refund. They don’t refund visa fee. You’ve paid
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 12:55pm On Oct 11, 2024
Honestly, my best guess for your case is that at the one-month mark or so, you will also get the rejected email. I may be wrong though. Please reply this if that ever happens so we can help others. I wish there was a way to report this.

Timgreat31:
Could you please share with me how you switched to Abuja because Lagos is still showing me Preapproval request is being processed". I paid on September 9 visa fee and I don't have problem with payment though. By the way, mine is renewal, and I guess yours is renewal as well because I read your previous post.

How long did the process take in Abuja

To be honest, i need this date urgently. Thanks.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by curiouscaramel: 12:54pm On Oct 11, 2024
Wow, thanks for sharing. this is such a crazy mess. I must definitely ask for a refund. its just unfortunate I paid with a nigerian card.
