Calendar shifted like NEPA light.
One extra semester became two… then somehow became “just manage it like that.”
Next thing…

I graduated at 27.
At some point, I stopped planning and started observing because in this country, your life plan is just a suggestion. Nigeria is the final editor.

You go draw straight line, life go use biro scatter am .
But here’s the funny part… you still arrive. Just not the way you imagined.
So if your timeline don bend small, calm down.
You’re not behind… you’re just studying in Nigeria.

I somehow relate with your situation.
First university I went I dropped out in final year due to poor academic performance, my 3 elderly brothers too couldn't graduate, I could see the disappointment in my dad's face, he was ageing too. His only joy was to see his children graduate from the university
I later got admission again Into UNIBEN and the old man sponsored me the whole 4 years from his meagre pension money till I graduated, finished clearance got my statement of result, travelled back home and shew him my notification of Bsc result and he was so extremely joyous and spread the news to his friends and kinsmen that I have graduated and his joy has been fulfilled.
The following month he passed away in my arms, the following month was also convocation at UNIBEN which I had planned on taking him there but he passed away

Really emotional....I shed tears.i did my Nysc as an orphan....I could imagine the joy in my mom's face if she had seen me wear that uniform.....life go far,I lost my mom on the day I wrote my last paper in my third year .so I had to do 400level alone,Cos I lost my dad even befoe gaining admission...I spilled over that 400level for 3yrs....it was God that made me finally become a graduate..and that institution was the University of benin...I remember after my 100 level result came out,I went to my mom at her stall where she sells Foodstuff,and I told her I had a very good cgpa 4.38,she said 'why he no go good pikin wey I dey hustle for inside sun and inside rain'mind you I am only child.seeing me wear that khaki would have been accomplishment for her but sadly it was not so....I can very much relate with emotions in this stories...
