Baptism has not spiritual significance in anyway. It is a ritual done in the old days to show submission to a school of taught (What you call admission today). It is usually done by teachers who are accepting new students who wants to learn in the line of their master teacher. This is why John the Baptist baptised. This is why Jesus was baptised because he submited to John's school.

That passage is teaches about two kind of people. The mind rich and the material rich people.

You just mentioned another reason why you should not take the bible literally. The bible was not originally English. "Camel in the eye of a Needle" It is not you regular sewing pin or needle. The eye of a needle is a door way used by the ancient jews to prevent invasion at night into their city. People will leave their goods outside and camel at night and can only enter alone through that small door. This way enemies cannot come into your city at night.

The rich man Jesus christ was making referral to is people who are materialistically possessive. Example people who think it is by doing anything to make money will be the only thing that can give them money. People like this cannot get anything from God because they prefer to use their own hands to get it and for this reason they cannot release it because they feel they got it by their own effort. You literally don't have to be money rich to fall into this catergory, even a financial poor man can be materially possessive.

Jesus is rich and not poor. When Jesus died on the cross, the soldiers cut his clothing into pieces and shared it among themselves. Till this date, how there are only a few clothing materials that could be that valuable even after you have cut them into pieces.

Another fact that he was rich was that Jesus Christ had a treasurer among his disciples. Poor people don't have treasurers or money managers.

You cannot compare today's riches with riches of those days, cause what what defined as riches in those days after a poor man's posession in today. i.e Donkey, Houses. etc. Things have evolved greatly.
