COOLCATS:
there is a difference between referral and meritocracy.yes , referreal is a known way of getting high chances but not when quality of a process is jeopardised. shell will not employ a candidate whose performance was poor at SRD because he was referred and then leave out the guy who is the top performer.
Well said. I certainly have no idea on how Shell strike a balance between referral and meritocracy, yet it is well known that in some firms (name hidden) some candidates that never even went through the process at all, still got the Job. From my post, you will understand that I am not in support or against any method that a company may use to choose a candidate (referral or meritocracy). The point I am making is whichever way, let's keep working hard, making efforts and hoping for the best and not let our previous negative experience prevent us from taking the necessary step cos change is constant.

It is obvious that people are talking based on their previous experience in the labour market. Some people having been through a rigorous recruitment process got dropped because of candidate that knows someone in the company, even though less qualified (I know the feeling), whereas some, I will say have been favoured enough to get in without knowing anyone. Whichever side of the road you find yourself, it is best to keep an open mind because the so called "know people rot" that many says is rampant in Nigeria is actually not a Nigerian thing, it is a gradual global evolution of the nature of recruitment process. It is popularly referred to as Networking. In fact it is estimated that 90% of vacancies are filled through networking, while the remaining 10% is what is been advertised, even a certain % of this advertised may still be filled by inside candidates. It is a growing trend around the world because people prefer to recruit someone they can trust or that is been supported by someone they can trust as other necessary ingredients such as skills, knowledge and qualifications can be acquired on the job. And beside, lets face it, who among us will be a in a position to help an unemployed blood brother and prefer to take on a complete stranger even though he is more qualified. Even in church secular vacancies, a committed worker is more likely to get the Job than a more qualified ordinary member. As the saying goes: Charity begins at home.

Therefore, I strongly believe that in as much as we are making all efforts to get that dream job by studying, gathering necessary qualifications, networking, applying and so on, we will surely get it by God's grace. Never give up or lose faith no matter the number of times you failed. Let it make you stronger not bitter.
Whether na connections or na merit or favour(luck) God go use, the koko be say na to get the dream job. It is well!

Considering the fact that companies like NLNG take over a year to complete their recruitment process, now that the Shell Application closes today, how long are we expected to wait before getting the interview response mail form shell (that is if God helps us and we made it o). @ previous years' applicants
From 2013/2014 thread, I think the timeline is anytime from two weeks after application's closing date. This is the minimum time, however, other factors such as choice of role, available vacancies, individual achievements and of course overall performance in the test may influence when an applicant is actually contacted for interview. For instance, some applicants from previous year thread were contacted two weeks after application closing date, while some were called many months after. So it all depends. Lets hope for the best.

i have checked both inbox and spam mail, but did not see any.

though i wrote them a mail yesterday waiting for reply.

can anyone send me the link for the test my email is donkription@yahoo.com

i will really appreciate it.

Thanks
Sorry bro.

I believe shell will be in touch with you shortly to resolve the issue with the link. As for asking for a link to the test, the link for the test will no longer be effective once it has been completed by the candidate. Even people who are yet to do the test and has the the test link in active mode, will not be foolish enough to give their only chance of writing the test to you.

So the only solution is to wait for a reply from Shell.

I finished the second test today but yet to receive any response from Shell. My friend did his immediately after I was through but he could not submit before the time elapsed though he attempted all the questions. He was sent a rejection email almost immediately. Is it possible it's because he could not submit on time.
l

I don't think so cos I didn't t submit even though I attempted all questions , but am yet to get any response from shell.

Manage Application is what u will click on by the middle left hand side of the webpage when u load your browser with the web address in quote "shell.com/careers", then clicking on Manage Application will take you to were u will login with your email and password, if u are using phone use Ucweb or chrome. hope u will be OK with this.
Otherwise, you can search for the word log in the search box and it will bring out a list of options which include manage application. Click on it and then log in with ur username and password.
