FoodRe: The Best Economical Way To Cook Your Beans With Gas(pics) by Danerah: 4:34pm On Dec 21, 2024
Chijeep:
Ever since the price of cooking gas and even kerosene and charcoal skyrocketed many Nigerians have dumped beans cooking but instead opted for buying cooked beans from vendors because of the high consumption of the fuel used in preparation of it.
But thank God for this brief method that help in saving gas efficiently.

Let me share with you how it works so that you too can also give it a try...

Picture1 shows how it starts:- You rinse your beans and pour it in your pot with water and add adequate salt and lit it on your gas.

Picture2 shows that the beans is boiling on the gas and then after you turn off your gas and leave the beans in the boiling water for some minutes.

picture3 after leaving the beans for some minutes and the boiling water is becoming warm then you on your gas again and allow it to bring again for about 5min and then you off your gas again.

Picture4 is that last stage as you can see the beans is already done and ready to consume but if you wish to cook it as porridge you can add all the necessary ingredients and cook till completely done
There's no disadvantage in preparing your beans this way but you will have to be close to keep watch and save your gas so that it will give you the most preferable result

THANKS AND I HOPE YOU GIVE IT A TRY
Good advice but please no salt at the beginning, it doesn't allow food to release nutrients properly if added at the beginning plus this method you prescribed will work will for brown beans, white beans will hardly respond. Better still save up for pressure pot, beans will be ready in 20 minutes max

In the bustling heart of Abuja, amidst the lively energy of Jabi Village, lives Anna—a young lady whose story is as extraordinary as her braiding skills. Anna is a talented hair braider who has spent years perfecting her craft, creating stunning hairstyles that leave her clients looking and feeling beautiful. But her journey to this point is one of resilience, courage, and determination.

A Journey Through Adversity
Anna’s life has been anything but easy. Born into a world where she faced challenges at every turn, she lost her parents at a young age, leaving her to navigate life as an orphan. Without access to formal education, she learned the harsh realities of life on her own.

Despite her physical challenges and being cheated and jilted by those she trusted, Anna refused to let her circumstances define her. She clung to her passion for beautifying women and turned her love for hair braiding into a lifeline.

A Passion That Shines
Anna’s legs may be limited in movement, but her creativity and dedication know no bounds. Watching her work is nothing short of mesmerizing—each braid woven with precision and care, transforming her clients’ hair into masterpieces. Women from all walks of life visit her for her exceptional skills and warm, welcoming spirit.

Her little workspace in Jabi Village, just behind Laps New World Hotel, is a hub of transformation. Clients often leave not just with a new hairstyle but with a renewed sense of confidence and joy.

A Call for Support
I met Anna years ago, and her story has remained with me ever since. Her resilience is deeply touching, and her determination to rise above her circumstances is an inspiration. But Anna needs our help to continue doing what she loves and supporting herself.

She dreams of a bigger workspace, better tools, and more opportunities to showcase her talent. If you feel moved by her story and want to support her, you can find her at Jabi Village, behind Laps New World Hotel, Abuja. You can also reach her directly at 08124135862.

HealthDangerous Impact Of Maggi On Your Health! by Danerah(op): 9:39pm On Nov 13, 2024
Like most Nigerians, I grew up in a household where Maggi and similar seasoning cubes were used in almost every dish. From Jollof rice to Egusi soup, that little cube was always there to "add flavor." I had heard people talk about the dangers of Maggi and other popular Nigerian seasoning cube brands and read a few articles on the health implications of MSG (Monosodium Glutamate), the primary ingredient in these cubes. But to be honest, I never really took it seriously.

All that changed when someone very close to me was diagnosed with cancer, and we eventually lost her. I began to look deeper into research on cancer causes, and I was stunned. While genetics can play a part, a lot of cancers can also be linked to the food we eat every day, especially food additives and artificial seasonings. When I saw studies and testimonies from people who had cut down on MSG for better health, I knew it was time to make a change.

I decided to experiment in my kitchen by cooking all my traditional Nigerian foods without Maggi. At first, I worried that the taste might not be the same, but I knew I needed to try. I began to explore local spices and ingredients that our grandmothers and great-grandmothers used before these cubes even existed. Ingredients like iru (locust beans), ogiri (fermented melon seeds), ugba (oil bean seeds), okpei, dawadawa (African locust beans), ginger, turmeric, garlic, cloves, onions, along with condiments like crayfish, stock fish, and dry fish. These spices and condiments not only have rich flavors but also add nutritional benefits to the food.

I tried them in my soups, using a mix of these local spices. To my surprise, my dishes tasted just as good as when I used Maggi! In fact, the flavors felt more natural, fuller, and even richer. My family didn’t notice anything different. I served guests without mentioning the change, and they enjoyed the food. When I finally told them I hadn’t used Maggi, they couldn’t believe it!

Switching to local spices has been a positive change for me, and I feel at ease knowing I’m not putting potentially harmful chemicals in our meals. Using these traditional spices is not just healthier; it connects us back to our roots and supports the Nigerian food culture.
So, if you’re looking for a healthier way to flavor your dishes, skip the Maggi and try these local spices and condiments instead. You’ll find that your food will still taste amazing, and your body will thank you.

Let's take care of our health, one plate at a time!

HealthThe Hottest Skincare Ingredients Everyone Is Talking About! by Danerah(op): 9:26pm On Oct 20, 2024
The world of skincare is constantly evolving, with new ingredients gaining popularity due to their incredible benefits for all skin types. Whether you’re new to skincare or a seasoned pro, knowing which ingredients are trending and why they work is key to achieving that glowing, healthy skin we all desire. Today, we’ll be discussing some of the most talked-about ingredients like Vitamin C, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, retinol, AHAs, peptides, snail mucin, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide. These ingredients are praised by skincare enthusiasts and dermatologists alike for their powerful effects. Plus, the great news is that Bismid Cosmetics, a leading skincare brand in Nigeria has products infused with these amazing ingredients!

1. Vitamin C: The Brightening Superstar

Vitamin C is one of the most popular ingredients in skincare for a reason—it brightens, protects, and fights aging. As an antioxidant, Vitamin C shields your skin from harmful free radicals caused by UV exposure and pollution, preventing premature aging. It also helps to fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation, leaving your skin looking even-toned and radiant.

If you’re looking to add a Vitamin C-infused product to your routine, check out Bismid Brightening Shower Gel with Vitamin C and AHA or Bismid Corrective Serum with Vitamin C for a dose of this skin-brightening hero.

2. Salicylic Acid: The Acne-Fighter

Salicylic acid is a go-to ingredient for anyone dealing with acne and breakouts. It’s a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that penetrates deep into the pores to exfoliate from the inside out, unclogging pores and preventing acne from forming. It also helps to reduce inflammation and redness, making it ideal for those with oily or acne-prone skin.

For a powerful cleanse, try the Bismid Glycolic and Salicylic Acid Face Wash, which combines salicylic acid with glycolic acid for an intense but gentle exfoliating experience.

3. Glycolic Acid: The Exfoliating Powerhouse

Glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), is known for its exfoliating properties. It gently removes dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, promoting smoother texture and a brighter complexion. Regular use of glycolic acid can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, making it a favorite in anti-aging skincare routines.

Bismid’s Glycolic and Salicylic Acid Face Wash is perfect for those looking to achieve smoother, more even-toned skin.

4. Retinol: The Anti-Aging Wonder

Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A, and it’s one of the most effective ingredients for combating signs of aging. It increases cell turnover, which means it helps to fade fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage while improving skin texture and tone. Retinol also stimulates collagen production, making your skin firmer and more youthful over time.

For those serious about tackling aging signs, Bismid Retinol and Rose Brightening Shower Gel and Bismid Retinol Essence Soothing Toner are great options to incorporate into your routine.

5. AHAs: The Skin Smoothers

Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) like lactic acid, citric acid, and glycolic acid help exfoliate the skin and improve texture. AHAs are often used to treat dry or sun-damaged skin because they slough off the outermost layer, revealing the fresh, smooth skin beneath. These acids also help with hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.

If you’re looking for a gentle exfoliation, Bismid Vitamin C and AHA Brightening Shower Gel and Bismid Vitamin C and AHA Face Wash will leave your skin glowing and smooth.

6. Peptides: The Collagen Boosters

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that help your skin produce more collagen, which is essential for maintaining firmness and elasticity. As we age, collagen production slows down, leading to sagging skin and wrinkles. Peptides help stimulate collagen production, giving you a more youthful, plump complexion.

Bismid Vitamin C and Peptides Face Wash contains peptides along with other nourishing ingredients to promote skin repair and hydration.

7. Snail Mucin: The Skin Healer

Snail mucin might sound unusual, but it’s been a game-changer in the skincare world. Packed with proteins, glycolic acids, and elastin, snail mucin promotes skin healing, hydration, and anti-aging. It helps repair damaged skin, reduce acne scarring, and keep your skin moisturized.

Try the Bismid Advanced Snail Mucin Repair Serum for the ultimate boost in skin healing and hydration.

8. Hyaluronic Acid: The Hydration Magnet

Hyaluronic acid is a hydration powerhouse, capable of holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water. It’s essential for keeping the skin plump, hydrated, and smooth. Hyaluronic acid is great for all skin types, especially those with dry or dehydrated skin, as it delivers deep moisture without clogging pores.

For a moisturizing treat, use Bismid Hyaluronic Acid Face Cream to keep your skin soft and supple.

9. Niacinamide: The Pore Refiner

Niacinamide, or Vitamin B3, is a multitasking ingredient that can reduce redness, minimize pores, even out skin tone, and strengthen the skin’s barrier. It’s also effective at controlling excess oil production, making it ideal for those with oily or combination skin.

The Bismid Niacinamide Shower Gel is a perfect choice for sun protection and also contains niacinamide to help control oil and protect your skin from environmental stressors.

AgricultureWonder Pawpaw Tree With 11 Branches Full Of Fruits In Edo State! by Danerah(op): 10:24pm On Oct 10, 2024
Someone close to me sent a video of this wonder tree from her family compound in Edo State, the video is quite large so I can only share a photo, the video got me so amazed and thinking...

Nigeria is gifted with rich, fertile soils capable of producing bountiful harvests of not just pawpaw, but a wide variety of crops and fruits. From the rolling savannahs of the North to the lush, tropical regions of the South, the nation's land is a powerhouse of agricultural opportunity. The sight of this wonder pawpaw tree in Edo State is a tiny bit of what the entire country could achieve if fully committed to agricultural development.

Our diverse climatic zones offer a perfect environment for farming a wide range of crops—cassava, yam, maize, rice, and exotic fruits such as pawpaw, mangoes, and guava. Nigeria could feed not only itself but also the African continent and even the world. But despite this immense potential, we face significant obstacles.

A Country Plagued by Challenges
While the wonder pawpaw tree stands tall, its fruits an offering of hope, the realities faced by Nigerian farmers tell a different story. The blessings of the land are hindered by a combination of bad leadership, insecurity, and neglect of the agricultural sector.

Poor Leadership: Decades of bad leadership have stifled agricultural growth. The lack of strategic investment in agriculture and rural infrastructure has left farmers with minimal support. Policies meant to empower agriculture are either poorly implemented or riddled with corruption.

Insecurity: The ongoing crisis of banditry, kidnappings, and conflicts in rural areas has driven many farmers from their land. In states where agriculture should be booming, farmlands remain abandoned, and food security is becoming an increasing concern.

Lack of Interest in Agriculture: Over the years, there has been a significant decline in interest in agriculture, especially among the youth. Many see farming as a primitive, unprofitable venture. This perception, coupled with the allure of quick wealth in cities, has caused an urban migration that leaves fewer hands to till the land.

Primitive Agricultural Tools: Those who remain in the sector are often left with outdated, inefficient tools. In an era of technology and mechanized farming, many Nigerian farmers still rely on hoes and cutlasses, tools their ancestors used centuries ago. This greatly limits productivity and further discourages investment in agriculture.

A Glimpse of Hope
However, the wonder pawpaw tree stands as a reminder that all hope is not lost. If this solitary tree, nurtured by Nigeria's soil, can produce so abundantly, imagine what could be achieved with the right leadership, modern farming techniques, and a renewed passion for agriculture.

Nigeria is blessed beyond measure. Our land is rich, our people are resilient, and the global demand for food is ever-growing. With a renewed focus on agriculture, modern infrastructure, and commitment to securing our rural areas, we could transform our agricultural landscape.

A Call to Action
It's time for Nigerians to reclaim our agricultural heritage. As citizens, we must demand better leadership, encourage the youth to see farming as a noble and profitable pursuit, and push for investment in modern farming tools and technologies.

This pawpaw tree is a symbol of what Nigeria could be—a nation overflowing with the fruits of its labor. The question is: Will we nurture it, or will we allow it to wither away?

Let’s rise to the challenge and sow the seeds of a brighter future, starting with the land beneath our feet.

Exactly!
HealthHelp! I Keep Losing Weight And Gaining It All Back by Danerah(op): 9:32pm On Oct 04, 2024
If you’ve ever lost weight only to gain it all back (and sometimes even more), you’re not alone! I’ve been there too—jumping from one diet to another, trying everything from keto, low-carb, and high-protein diets to engaging in all sorts of weight loss challenges. I even paid for a weight loss coach and saw results, but the weight always crept back.

It took me years to realize that weight loss and keeping it off isn’t about finding the next trendy diet or quick fix. It’s about making lifestyle changes that are simple, sustainable, and easy to maintain. Cutting out large groups of food may seem like a quick solution, but it often leads to intense cravings and binge eating, which only makes things worse.

So how do you break free from this vicious cycle? Here’s what worked for me, and I believe it can work for you too:

1. Study the Long-Term Effects of Poor Eating Habits
Understanding the consequences of poor eating habits and excessive weight is the first step. Learn about the impact of sugar, processed foods, and unhealthy fats on your body. When you know the risks, it becomes easier to make better choices.

2. Gradually Cut Down on Sugar and Increase Fruits and Vegetables
Don’t try to change everything at once. Start by gradually reducing your sugar intake and increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat. Avoid fizzy (soft) drinks and alcohol, which add empty calories and sabotage your efforts.

3. Start an Easy-to-Maintain Exercise Routine
You don’t need an intense workout plan to start seeing results. Begin with simple exercises like squats, skipping, jumping jacks or running in place. If you have access to a treadmill, use it. Jogging or joining a gym is also great if it’s convenient for you. The key is consistency, not intensity.

4. Understand the Importance of a Calorie Deficit
The secret behind every successful weight loss plan is creating a calorie deficit—eating slightly less food than your body needs each day. Focus on eating smaller portions and opt for home-cooked meals where you control the ingredients.

5. Practice Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting is a simple strategy that involves having an eating window each day, the most common way is to eat within 8 hours of a day and fast for the next 16 hours. It’s not about starving yourself; it’s about giving your body a break from constant eating, which can help with weight loss and overall health.

6. Choose Healthy Snacks
Making a daily choice to gradually replace common snacks like biscuits and other flour-based foods with healthier options will go a long way, consider snacks like garden egg/groundnuts, tiger nuts, apples etc.
How about making your own snacks with healthier options like oats, sweet potato flour, unripe plantain flour, corn flour etc? Very delicious and healthy too!

6. Plan your meals wisely
Although breakfast and it’s importance has been a hot topic in the health world, in my little experience I found out that starting my day with a heavy breakfast makes me sluggish through the day!
I now have natural teas for breakfast made with moringa, lemon grass, miracle leaf and any herbal teas around me, no milk or sugar in it, lunch is my heaviest meal and dinner ends latest by 7pm with fruits and vegetables and lots of water throughout the day.
One of the wonders of taking these herbal teas is that they serve as a daily detoxification for me and has also dealt with ulcer that came as I jumped from one strict diet to another!

7. Enjoy the Process
Remember, this is not a race. Enjoy the journey to a healthier you. It may take time, but if you are consistent, you will see great results. Not only will you lose weight, but you’ll also feel healthier, fitter, and more confident.

I encourage you to take it one day at a time and practice these tips. And if you’ve had similar experiences or have other tips that worked for you, please share them in the comments below. Let’s learn and grow together!
