imoh Moshood, police public relations officer (PPRO), says the collapse of Charly Boy at the protest demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari either resume office or resign was “over dramatisation”.

Moshood said this in an interview on Sunrise Daily, a Channels TV programme, on Thursday.

The police spokesman said when Charly Boy spotted the camera, he then fell down.

He said the police intervened in the protest because they “noticed a mix-up of miscreants and hoodlums”.

“You can see over dramatisation of the leader of the protesters who was sitting on a chair and because the camera is coming to his side decided to fall down,” Moshood said.

“The same man went to AIT that same day immediately after the incident and went and narrated what had happened. I’m not being persecuted but I’m allowed to say the side of the police.

“The first day of the protest it was peaceful, the second day when miscreants mixed in, police used its judgment to disperse them.”

Earlier, Deji Adeyanju, a leader of the protesters, said Charly Boy collapsed after the police used teargas on them.

He said the claim of the police that they were infiltrated by miscreants was false.

“He (Charly Boy) had collapsed when the teargas was shot at us, he is 66, the teargas was shot directly at us. While we were yet sitting again, they kept shooting the tear-gas. The smoke must have affected him,” Adeyanju said.

“Immediately we got to the venue of the protest on Tuesday we were confronted by the police and they told us that we had a successful sit-out which was Monday and that there was no need to proceed that this cannot be a daily thing, that it going to become an embarrassment to the government, and that we should postpone it by another week or two.

“That we can just come back another day and have a procession we told them that we had a programme and the police was adequately informed of all these and they can’t prevent us from carrying out our daily sit-out and as we sat down we started, we were just about 10 or there about.

“As we started water cannon vehicles starting coming round us and the next thing they started pouring water on us and they were about 20 dogs there and there were a lot of horses and we started running to where the police people were because we trying to prevent the dogs from biting us.

“Then they shot tear-gas, directly at us. It was at that point that one Silverbed journalist was injured on his left arm another protester, Theophilous also fainted, we had to rush him – some took him from the hospital.
“We went to the Unity Fountain and we were briefing journalists that were on ground while we were doing that, they shot tear-gas again at us.”
He added that they notified the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) of the protest.

“We are not interested in all these back and forth, we just want the president to resume or resign, that is not too much to ask, he has been gone for 94 days,” Adeyanju said.

PRESS RELEASE: NIGERIAN AIR FORCE DESTROYS BOKO HARAM HIDEOUT

In furtherance of operations to completely defeat the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) Organization, on 7 August 2017, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Component of Operation LAFIYA DOLE conducted an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission over Parisu, in the Sambisa general area. During the ISR mission, a large group of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) was seen converging under a tree close to a prominent zinc-roofed structure. Part of the structure was concealed by the foliage of a tree, making it a seemingly unobtrusive gathering point for the terrorists. A confirmatory ISR mission indicated that the structure was indeed a BHT hideout, housing a large number of terrorists. Accordingly, on 8 August 2017, the Air Component detailed fighter aircraft to strike the target in succession. Following the first and second strikes, the building was completely destroyed and the location was strafed during the third attack. The fourth attack was re-directed to a close by building, where BHT activity was also noticed. Subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revealed that the BHT hideout was completely reduced to rubble and several BHTs were killed while a few of them were seen evacuating the casualties.

Osinbajo said investors who do not take advantage of the opportunities in the Nigerian economy now will blame themselves in 10 years time.

In a statement released on Monday, August 7, by Osinbajo's spokesman, Laolu Akande, the Acting President stated this at the presidential villa in Abuja during a meeting of delegates from the Nigerian Initiative for Economic Development (NEID).

Osinbajo made reference to the growth and return on investment in the telecom industry, saying companies which did not invest regretted later.

He said, "If you are really serious about investing in Africa, Nigeria is where to come. If you don’t invest now, your company will query you in 10 years.

"This is a country of 180 million people, and in another 10 years, we are probably going to be the sixth or seventh largest country in the world. There is no way we are not going to need power, whether it is off-grid power or on-grid power. Power is required by everyone where we have a major power deficit.

"So, we are going to open up that power sector and anyone who invests in the power sector will definitely make money. No question. It is going to be much bigger and better than telecom."

The Acting President also clarified that though prospective investors are helping Nigeria, ultimately the country is a fertile place for investment.

"I like the idea of investors knowing that the reason why you are coming to Nigeria is not to help Nigeria. You will ultimately end up helping Nigeria, but the reason why you are coming here is because this is a good place to do business," he said.

"Nigeria is a place that is waiting to happen and it will happen. That’s really the point. It will happen. The truth of the matter is that any country that opens itself to free enterprise, the way Nigeria is opening itself to free enterprise, will somehow find that it will work.

"My friend is from Rwanda. Rwanda is a very lovely country and Paul Kagame is an incredible individual doing really good things in that country and I believe that the country will do great things.  But compare Rwanda to Nigeria in terms of just the size of the economy.  We have 36 states in Nigeria.  Lagos alone which is the commercial nerve centre is six times the economy of Rwanda.

"So, really when you compare some of these things people say ‘Oh! I want to go to there'; ‘I want to go here’ …Yaah! It’s okay.  But the truth of the matter is that if you are really serious about investing in Africa, this is where you have to come to.  This is absolutely where you must come to.  There is no other place."

Three fans sued Usher, alleging that sexual encounters with the R&B star had exposed them to herpes.
One of the accusers, Quantasia Sharpton, spoke about her hotel room rendezvous two years ago with Usher while celebrating her 19th birthday. She said she’s negative for herpes.
The other two fans were identified only as Jane Doe and John Doe in court papers. Their attorney, Lisa Bloom, said one of them does have herpes.
Three more plaintiffs accuse Usher of giving them herpes
Sharpton said she was sporting a crown at an Usher concert when she and her friends received word they were invited backstage.
She gave her number to security and back at the hotel she received a call from the performer. Bloom did not allow her client to share where or when the concert took place.
“We spoke for a while and then we engaged in sexual contact. He never warned me about any STDs, it was just after my 19th birthday,” Sharpton, 21, said during a press conference at the New York Hilton Midtown.
“When I first heard he had herpes I couldn’t believe it...I would have never consented if I had known.”
She added that she gave birth last year and is certain she is negative for herpes. Others, though, weren’t so lucky.
“Usher, if you are negative, please say so. If you are positive, you need to warn your sex partners,” Sharpton said.
The suit will be filed in California, where Bloom says the law requires a person disclose he or she has herpes to a sex partner.
In 2012 Usher settled a lawsuit with a celebrity stylist to the tune of $1.1 million.
The lawsuit said the eight-time Grammy winner was diagnosed with the virus in 2009 or 2010 — around the time he divorced his first wife.
The celebrity attorney said she’d been contacted by other people claiming to have had sex with Usher who are concerned they’d been exposed to herpes.
Usher has not responded to the charges.

A Lagos businessman accused of being a Badoo shrine chief priest, Chief Alaka Abayomi, an oil marketer and owner of Alaka Petroleum has raised alarm saying that the police is trying to frame him up as a member of the dreaded Badoo cult group in Ikorodu area of Lagos.
Alaka alongside three others were arrested on Monday, July 31, by men of the Nigeria police who uncovered a shrine believed to be the hideout of notorious serial killers, Badoo, terrorising Ikorodu. .
According to Abayomi, he was invited by the Police two weeks ago. He honoured the invitation where he was made to write a statement. During the visit, he was asked if he belonged to the Badoo cult group and he told them he did not belong to the group but has a dedicated traditional place of worship.
Abayomi said after the interrogation, he was allowed to go home only for the Police to storm his house at Magodo where he lives on Sunday, 30th of July, 2017 and told him that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Edgar, wants to see him and that he followed them.
“On getting to the State Command, I was detained and no one told me what my offence was. The following day, they brought me out, put me in a vehicle with pressmen and asked me to take them to my dedicated traditional place of worship at Agbowa in Ikorodu and I took them there, they searched everywhere and found nothing incriminating.
That traditional place of worship has been there for over 30 years and there are over 100 traditional places of worship in Ikorodu alone and they found nothing in that place, yet they tagged me a murderer and a member of Badoo cult group.
Tell me if I belong to Badoo cult group, will they release me? And for 30 years, I have lived in Ikorodu, people know I am a business man and they know the kind of business I do so who exactly is sponsoring the police to tarnish my good name that I have built for a long time?” Abayomi queried. In a statement released on Monday, Lagos police command spokesperson, Olarinde Famous – Cole, said a joint team of the police uncovered buildings, which had different kinds of charms, used by the gang.

Olga died after her bike left the road and hit a fence, smashing into two pieces, police in Russia said.
Olga, who went by the nickname 'Monika9422', was reportedly a hairdresser and also posed in lingerie and swimwear on her bike.
