RomanceWhy Men Don’t Forgive Their Cheating Partners by Danny22964(op): 7:47am On Jul 16, 2016
In her lone moments, Kolawole Busola, 38, (not real name) would certainly wish she could undo the string of events that led her into the waiting arms of Daniels, a colleague at work.Married to a businessman, Babatope, 43, who never spent a full week in the house without travelling, and one who never bothered to create the romantic atmosphere for their love and intimacy to grow, Busola still has herself to blame for what she has got herself into. Her undoing was sharing her worries about her home with a male colleague who offered his advice, counsel and even gave her a shoulder to lean on. They became close and started going out together. She did it so well that her husband never suspected anything. Not long after, their friendship became platonic (intimate and affectionate but not sexual) and few months after, they ended up in bed, having sexual relationship. They did that more than once, and being something she had missed from her husband, it became a routine to the extent that her husband suspected and started monitoring her, discreetly. Eventually, Babatope found out that his wife had been cheating on him the day he picked his wife’s phone to read her text messages. According to him, that was the end. Not even pleas and admonitions by family members and friends could convince him to shelve his plan to file for divorce. They would have celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary two weeks ago, like they did when it was 10 years, but that celebration was the last thing on their mind that day. Their marriage was already on a fast lane to hit the rocks since the day he found out about his wife’s infidelity. The union that many admired, on its face value perhaps because they are rich, seems to be getting worse by the day, and not even the pleas and explanations that Busola is dying to offer would make any difference; at least not yet.Meanwhile, Busola recalled that she had also caught him cheating before and she had to forgive him and that they resolved it quietly “and we moved on” but now that it’s “regrettably” her turn, she had not been able to reconcile herself with the fact that the man who begged her for forgiveness years ago had suddenly become so unforgiving “for the same offence.”The union is blessed with three children; two boys and a girl, but that does not seem like a sufficient reason for him to halt his decision to leave the marriage, as he had said repeatedly that he would never forgive her for cheating on him.
PoliticsSenate President, Just Like The President Needs Immunity – Leo Ogor by Danny22964(op): 7:33am On Jul 16, 2016
Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Leo Ogor, who proposed immunity for presiding officers of National Assembly and state assemblies in this interview with JOHN AMEH states why he decided to sponsor the bill. You proposed a controversial amendment to the 1999 Constitution seeking immunity for National Assembly/State Assembly presiding officers. What is the aim?The amendment is purely on Section 308 of the constitution, which grants immunity to the President, the Vice-President, State Governors and Deputy Governors. I am convinced beyond reasonable doubts that as lawmakers, there is a very strong need for us to have a critical analysis of this constitutional provision; how did it come about, what does it intend to achieve? What is the mischief that this section intends addressing? That is when you can appreciate where I am coming from. The 1999 Constitution was authored by the military and the most important thing you need to appreciate here is that the military back then played the role of the executive. Anytime they usurped power, the first place they wanted to sack was the National Assembly. In authoring the constitution, they granted immunity to the executive in line with the positions that they had been holding. The ideology of immunity is to avoid unnecessary distractions. The essence of avoiding distractions is to serve what I will probably call the national interest. As the President, a President is saddled with protecting the national interest, same for the governor. From what we have experienced so far, vis-a-vis what is happening right now at the National Assembly, specifically the Senate, not referring to Senator Bukola Saraki as a person or Senator Ike Ekweremadu, it becomes important that we enact laws that are protective of the institution of the legislature. The whole idea, therefore, is to make sure that the presiding officer, who is saddled with the responsibility of presiding over the Senate or the House of Representatives, is properly shielded against unnecessary harassment. It goes the other way to reaffirm the independence of the legislature. People should see the argument behind this concept; it is to protect the legislature and guard against the unnecessary harassment and intimidation that we are seeing presently. This is also to make sure that in line with our criminal jurisprudence, if a man is found wanting, after his tenure, he will still face trial. This is the same provision that the President, VP, governors, down to deputy governors enjoy. For a man who presides over such a big institution as the National Assembly, it is only fair to give him protection. But to Nigerians, this amendment is self-serving. No. You see, I have told you clearly that it is in the interest of the institution, it is not self-serving. It is not for Leo Ogor; it is for the presiding officers. It is for the Senate President, Speaker of the House, the Deputy Senate President, Deputy Speaker and presiding officers of state legislatures. It reaffirms the independence of the legislature and shows very clearly that you can be firm in adhering to the oath of allegiance which you swore to uphold. But, where you can easily be intimidated, coerced or forced to take actions or inaction that you do not want to take, who are we deceiving? What do you say to the insinuations that this amendment was influenced by presiding officers of the Senate to frustrate their ongoing prosecution? Let me laugh at them and laugh at the ignorance being expressed in situations like this. When you propose an amendment, it is intended to correct some mischief. Look at what is happening in the Senate. My amendment is to address that issue so that it doesn’t happen to another person tomorrow. It is to strengthen the independence of this democratic institution, the National Assembly. For example, if Saraki is not there tomorrow, and we have a President who is extremely dictatorial, he may even order the police, which is under the executive, to arrest and detain a Senate President. At the end of the day, he will install whoever he wants to install. But, if that particular Senate President has immunity, he knows he cannot arrest him. He knows that it is a separate arm of government. This is not about the person of Saraki; I am talking of the office of the Senate President, which will continue to exist after Saraki. So, Saraki has nothing to do with it. What the Saraki issue has thrown up, you may say, is the exposure of the institution to clear threats and danger. You saw the scenario where the Senate President and the Deputy Senate President were in court on the same day. Was that meant to cripple the legislative business of the day? National interest must prevail above individual and personal interest at all times. People should appreciate what this amendment intends to achieve and stop looking at it from a very parochial perspective.

PoliticsBreaking: Fayose Opens Up, Explains How His Election Was Funded by Danny22964(op): 7:47am On Jun 23, 2016
Following allegation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, justifying the freezing of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s Zenith bank account over alleged link of funds from the office of the National Security Adviser, Governor Fayose on Wednesday, denied the allegations.FayoseThe EFCC had alleged that the funds, amounting to about N4.7billion, was moved from accounts operated by two of Mr. Obanikoro’s sons where it was transferred to Mr. Fayose’s Zenith Bank Account in Ado-Ekiti. But Fayose in a swift reaction said his 2014 election was funded by Zenith Bank Plc, fund raisers, donations from friends and associates, as well as sales of campaign souvenirs. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Governor Fayose said: “I have no financial transaction whatsoever with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro either by cash, cheque or electronic transfer.”Fayose challenged the anti-graft agency to publish statements made by Musiliu Obanikoro, his son or other persons associated with funds from the NSA’s supposedly used for his governorship election. He said: “EFCC is only acting a movie scripted, produced and directed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Mohammadu Buhari just to silence me being a major opposition voice in the country.”On the alleged involvement of President Buhari’s wife, Aisha, in
the Williams Jefferson bribery scam, the governor challenged the president’s wife to visit the United States of America to convince Nigerians that she was not the Aisha Buhari mentioned in the judgment.“It is on record that the President has visited USA three times and his wife did not travel with him. She ought to have visited USA last year September to chair a United Nation programme but she sent the wife of the Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki to represent her.“I advise that they should keep their gun pounder dry and wait till the end of my tenure in 2018 and I want to assure them that I will be available to answer any of their questions, no matter how unreasonable.”He added: “Furthermore, Nigerians should know that I have been persecuted by the EFCC before, using phantom N1.2 billion poultry scam and I came out victorious. I was not only acquitted, I got N10 million judgment against the EFCC and my impeachment that was orchestrated by the EFCC was quashed by the Supreme Court.“Nigerians should recall that it was part of this plot to get back at me because of my critical stance on Buhari’s government that the Ekiti State House of Assembly was invaded by men of the Department of State Service (DSS), placement of travel ban on me and lately, illegal frozen of my account by the EFCC.“I therefore make bold to state that in the overall interest of democracy and well-being of Nigerians, I will continue to speak my mind on issues bordering on governance in Nigeria. I will not be intimidated.” thx for reading, pls follow me on twitter @uzomanworu77 ;-)
