The governor with his wife.
|
It was thrills and frills as the Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, led 250 power bikers, including former governor Donald Duke in an acrobatic display of state of the art exotic power bikes. The bikers’ segment of the Calabar Carnival, which took place on Wednesday afternoon, witnessed throngs of spectators who laid siege on the 12-kilometre carnival route to watch acrobatic displays. Leading the charge which took off to an ecstatic start, the revellers screamed and cheered as Governor Ayade, who was carrying his wife, Mrs Linda Ben-Ayade, and his band of riders took to the road from the Millennium Park. “The bikers’ parade intention is to connect with young people,” the governor said. “If you look at the audience in the carnival, it has undergone dramatic change in the last 10 years – from the elderly to the middle age, now to the young people and if you don’t change the content of the carnival to reflect the enthusiasm and the adrenaline pumping nature of the young people, you will be boring to them. “So we need to create an atmosphere that shows that the governor has the wisdom of a sixty-year-old and the enthusiasm of a child – an old head on a young shoulder; I can afford to act like I am young, a youth and at the same time be a governor”. The Bikers’ Carnival which before today went through a series of rigorous dry runs, lived up to its billing as they pulled tons of stunts in front of the ever cheering crowd. Governor Ayade, who noted that the carnival only feature procession and dance on the streets before now, said he was trying to carry the youths along in the affairs of the state. Joking about his outfits, he said: ”When you see a governor on a bandana, with my bling bling just looking like one of them, I’m telling you that look, this man was a doctor at 23, professor at 32 and governor at a very… and is performing; so I can be like you! “Just look at the crowd, this is record breaking. I have broken my own record. Last year, it was a huge success but today, I am afraid if the carnival tomorrow will be able to carry this bikers’ parade that we did today.” On the choice of red as the colour and what led to the shape of his bike, he said he was trying to show the “red smart energy” in him and the ability to blend in to any situation. “Red scorpion but if you look at the head, it is a crocodile; if you look at the fins it tells you that look – I am an Octopus. You can’t really tell my story, I have the capacity to change at all times. If I want to be a young person, I will; as a professor, I will; as a senator, I will; if I want to behave like a lawyer, I will; but more importantly, that I don’t forget my history. “So, my bike tells the story of the blend in one person, and that is the story that you see in that. It is custom made, designed by myself and produced only to me in the entire world,” the governor said. https://www.channelstv.com/2017/12/27/ayade-duke-lead-250-bikers-calabar-carnival/amp/ Cc: Lalasticlala, Seun Please just do the needful

This is a serious issue that relevant authorities are supposed to be working on to unravel what actually happened. What do you think about this case? Do you also think there was a foul play involved?

This is a serious issue that relevant authorities are supposed to be working on to unravel what actually happened. it's sad when one comes across this kind of incidents only to find out that agencies responsible for investigation keep quite only to sweep the case under the carpet cause those involved do not want any traces. While those who carried out the act smile to the bank and live as if nothing happened. What do you think about this case? Do you think it was just and accident or a plot to cover up traces

Barrister Okoi Obono-Obla, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Prosecution has said that he is ready to contend with anyone who attempts to slander his image even if they are agents of Lucifer. Mr. Obla stated this Monday, while reacting to a story allegedly published by The NIGERIAN PILOT that he collected NGN1.2 billion from former governors to stall their prosecution on corruption cases which he denied and said it was planted in a desperate and frenzied manner to impugn his integrity. “A planted media story in a desperate and frenzied manner calculated to impugn my hard earned integrity will not cause me to back down. One of such stories planted by matrons and patrons of corruption enterprise is that I collected 1.2 billion (USD3,333,348 million GBP2,546,678) from politically exposed former governors. Gosh! The allegation is hollow as it is silly,” Obla wrote on Facebook. He continued: “I am ever ready to contend with these agents of Lucifer and I have therefore instructed my lawyers to sue The Pilot and any media house that allows itself to be used to plant fake stories impugning my integrity. “I repeat, defamers and slander mercenaries will not intimidate or deter me from carrying out my responsibilities. I was appointed to do a job and I remain committed to the trust shown in my appointment, my tasks at hand and most importantly my conscience,” Obla said. He averred that the panel which has been the subject of his recent suspension has not even taken off and some people are so scared stiff that they plant such stories to cripple President Buhari’s anti-corruption efforts even as he wondered why he needs such an amount. “What do I need such enormous amount of money for? I am a largely contented man. I also married a humble and God fearing woman who is an accomplished professional in her own right,” adding that; “I am content.” Obla said he has been able to provide for his family and build houses in his home town Ugep, Calabar and Abuja from law practice and stressed that what he yearned for is to serve people which is why he elected to be a human rights activist and lawyer in 1991 when he finished his National Youth Service Corps. Mr. Obla recently made headlines after the Presidency curtailed his media appearances and directed him to cease acting in the capacity of the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Recovery of Public Property. (Which has now been lifted) Meanwhile, as at press time, CrossRiverWatch gathered that: Mr. Obla’s legal representative, Mr. First Isa has filed a lawsuit seeking NGN500 million (GBP1,061,116 USD1,388,895) in damages at the Federal High Court, Abuja as well as the retraction of the publication among others. A date is yet to be fixed for the hearing, http://crossriverwatch.com/2017/11/i-am-ready-to-contend-with-agents-of-lucifer-obla-on-alleged-receipt-of-n1-2bn-bribe/ Cc: Lalasticlala

The launch and public presentation of the autobiography of the Paramount Ruler of Obudu, Uti J.D Agba is billed for Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Calabar International Convention Center, CICC. HRM Uti Agba is the longest serving monarch in Nigeria and has been Paramount Ruler of Obudu local government area of northern Cross River State for almost 6 decades. Family sources say Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka will be the Guest Lecturer while the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar is the chairman of the occasion with former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the special guest of honor. The book, which was authored by Mr. Agba’s son, Prince Jedy Agba and Mathias Okoi-Uyouyo has enjoyed positive reviews so far from media outfits and literary icons; some of these include: “Stepping Forward with Uti J.D Agba is an autobiography of high order, intended to sustain the reader’s interest, remain true to historical evidence, and deliver a message, all at the same time… The tendency of the book to be too rich, too sensitive, and too warmly nostalgic, is offset by the unrelenting accuracy of its language. Goddy Jedy Agba and Mathias Okoi-Uyouyo have written one of the finest portraits of the politician as a biography that the English language has ever known. ” – The Authority “Its not a simple story of ‘like father, like son,’ but a filtered narration of progenies powered by predecessors and ascending to the heights of challenges and endeavor.” – Professor Kalu Uka “Stepping Forward with Uti J.D Agba is an autobiography, rich in history, culture and direction.” – Leadership http://crossriverwatch.com/2017/11/soyinka-etsu-nupe-obj-to-unveil-autobiography-of-nigerias-longest-serving-monarch-jd-agba-on-saturday/ Cc:Lalasticlala
