Enugu State Police Command has promised to investigate the circumstances under which about N3.6 million out of over N8 million recovered from a bank thief allegedly disappeared in police custody.
Vanguard reported that Enugu State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Danmalam, who reacted to the story maintained he would personally investigate the matter.
“I will investigate the matter and give you feedback please,” Danmalam was quoted as saying through a text message.

The Osun state 2018 gubernatorial rerun election is gradually winding up. While the rerun in some polling units have been relatively peaceful, there are reports of intimidation, gunshots in some polling units

The supplementary contest is a straight battle between Adeleke and Oyetola. However, other parties will be allowed to participate.

Osun rerun: collation of results begins

Thursday’s rerun election in some areas in Osun State is gradually coming to an end as collation of results has commenced.

As at press time, results are being gathered and announced in different polling units and collation centers in the state.

The supplementary election is between the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

PDP’s Ademola Adeleke and APC’s Gboyega Oyintola are in the race to take over from incumbent Governor, Rauf Aregbesola.

DAILY POST reported that Ademola Adeleke of the PDP led the race in last Saturday’s election with 254,698 votes, 353 votes more than Oyetola.

The margin was, however, less than the 3,498 votes in the polling units where votes were cancelled.

Consequently, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joseph Afuape, declared the poll inconclusive and discloses why.

As electorate throng the four local governments of Osogbo, Orolu, Ife North and Ife South to participate in the rerun election slated for Thursday, sporadic shootings and vote buying have obviously marred the process.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has begun announcing the results of the Osun State election in each of the 30 local councils of the state.
Final collation will be done on Sunday at the state headquarters in Osogbo.
