I am no supporter of country invasion but more than half the population of Iran are tired of their wicked regime. The scenario in which the major general was killed is different from this, it was an ambush. In the Iranian scenario, the weapons officer in the plane, ejected and parachuted to a remote location and because of Iran's terrain it is easy to evade pursuers/captors if you have undergone Survival/evasion/ recovery training in the military. That was why the airman was able to survive for 2 days . US special forces normally carry out operations in the night in order to reduce risk.

Even the US troops on ground right now, in the Gulf are not enough to carry out a full scale ground invasion. They are only rapid response special forces. The US marines and 82nd Airborne Division .

Isreal is not ready for a ground invasion. If the US withdraws today, Isreal may withdraw or continue the war but it will be an air war, that is only their strength, they have a strong airforce. It doesnt take much military personell to carry out an air war compared to a full scale ground invasion.
