PurpleHibiscus7:
Hello house,

I am back with my testimony. After three attempts of being stuck at band 6 in EE and changing structures, I have finally shattered the nclc 7 ceiling at my fourth attempt! CE B2 CO C1 EE B2 EO B2. Just for someone here, please don't give up and always believe you can improve. I threw in the towel many times and picked it back up because... 50 points makes a world of difference. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me here. So, what I did for this last attempt:
1. Registered for a McGill online TEF writing course structured by a former TEF examiner (this demystified the entire EE for me)
2. Kept my former Cameroonian tutor. She's very patient; she will deal with your grammar warmly, making you want to learn. I can drop her contact if anyone is interested. She followed me through all my ups and downs and never let me go.
3. Attempted Madame Bizang, but after a few classes, I realized that her attitude was not tailored for me. I did all my homework and attended classes early, but she'd talk down on every piece of classwork I produced, saying my grammar was pretty much zero without offering any solid solution. She once told me I couldn't get the desired score in her opinion, and I started losing confidence in both my written and oral French. So, I quietly quit.
4. I listened to 8 milliard de Voisin on RFI daily. Anytime I heard a new word, I'd stop, check the meaning and how to use it, and then use it in conversation with my tutor. I also watched French movies on Netflix.
5. Prepmyfuture is a powerhouse. I cannot overemphasize the content there. Please NOTE: they have now updated their content to suit the new format of the TEF starting from Dec 11, 2023.
6. Joined a Cameroonian TEF prep WhatsApp group called Dr. Manfred C2. I used it to study how the native French write and just followed their convos.
5. I praised God ahead of test day. I almost missed my test due to unforeseen traffic, but we thank God.
If you've followed my story, you'd know I have been through the fire... but other testimonies encouraged me, so I'm encouraging someone else; it is worth every sleepless night, frustrated days, tears, mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion. In total, I got an extra 62 points from TEF.

Apologies for the long write-up; I promised to come back with my praise report, and here it is. Have a blessed evening, everyone!
You don’t know how this write-up has helped me! it has also confirmed some of my reservations with a certain tutor. I have taken note of the tips you gave and have determined to study for atleast 3 hours everyday for the next one year. I pray I am able to come back with my own testimony too. Goodluck in all your endeavours!

Some ECA organizations do not recognize degrees from Universities in the Republic of Benin, so research thoroughly and read the ECA organization’s websites before committing funds. If your University is not recognized, then your ECA is worthless for FSW[b]

Please I need some clarifications on this WES ECA for HNAUB.

I am the primary applicant and we are expecting ITA soon by God’s grace but my husband’s ECA was done by WES about 4 years ago which will expire next year.
Do you think it will affect our application? His Bsc was evaluated before WES stopped accepting certificates from HNAUB.

Thank you.

Thanks a lot. I started in July last year when someone enlightened me on the impact of french on CRS score and gave me his echo A1 book. But the book was so boring to me until I stumbled upon a post by @Cooooooks about vite et bien and it was a game changer. I employed a private tutor that same month and she was like the perfect icing on the cake. I did a month subscription with ‘learn french with Alexa’ too while I was also listening to the Michel Thomas series at any spare time both at work and at home. Immediately I finished the vite et bien B1 book, I focused my attention on ‘the communication progessive du français ‘ by the same author of vite et bien and also started streamlining my practice towards the TCF exams bécause I discovered I had learnt enough vocabs. My tutor was a major booster and I couldn’t have pulled through without her efforts.

So in summary, I used

Books:
Vite et bien (A1 to B1)
Communication progressive du français
Essential French grammar
The Ultimate French (couldn’t finish reading this)
Vocabulary in dialogue series (Couldn’t finish this)

Audio:
Michel Thomas series
Frenchpod101 (didnt finish all)
Coffee break (didnt finish all)
RFI
TV5monde

YouTube videos
-french extra series (very funny)
-french in action series (didn’t finish this)
-french avec pierre
Some other French channels

Subscription
Learn french with Alexa
Réussirtcf canada
TCF prepmyfuture (I didnt use this one at all. I later gave out the login details cos I didn’t like it)

GROUPS
-Several Telegram French groups especially for speaking
-Several whatsapp groups too

APPS
HelloTalk ( Didnt use this more than once cos I could easily speak french with my tutor everyday)

MOVIES
The African Doctor
Lupin (this is a series)
Some others.

Private Tutor: For the entire learning period. Also, my Tutor was very determined to ensure I succeeded. We became very close. I got to know her through a website called Superprof which someone recommended for me because I needed a physical tutor and not an online one.

Also, I already knew I was writing TCF , so no need studying TEF materials but I participated in their speaking sessions in various platforms.

Overall, the best way to learn the language is to love the language first and then immerse yourself. I’d sometimes speak french to my colleagues and patients at work just for the fun of it LOL. The books and michel Thomas Series made me keep going back for more. Each time I felt like giving up, I’d come to this thread to read People’s testimonies and that would fire me on again. So this thread played a crucial role too. Since my colleagues knew I was studying french, they easily covered for me at work too. Not failing to acknowledge the help of God who is the orchestrator of all things.
Congratulations!!
I just started my french journey too and i would like to opt for TCF as well.
Could you please assist me on how to get the VITE ET BIEN book and Michael Thomas Series online (if possible, free too. lol)
Thank you.

Please I need your help on this. Currently studying for my Acca and I am a bit overwhelmed!
55emem55:
Hi guys, so I recently passed my ACCA exams F1-F3. The journey of 2 or more certificates has officially come to an end. I Self Studied for 2 months With ACCA Approved Textbooks and workbooks and they helped a whole lot. If you're in Lagos, PM me and I can give you the textbooks/workbooks for a token (I bought them and they were quite expensive). Let me know.
