Question:
There is something wrong with my E90 key, hopefully you can help me with it. So here is the thing, I bought a BMW 335i second hand recently, which came with one key which was not remote control. It is an original key ordered in the dealer but it cannot open the car. The dealer told me that the CAS module is not from that car. What can I do? Below is a pic of the key. I just want to open the car with the remote control. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.


Answer:
It seems the CAS unit was replaced in your car. If so the money you paid to dealer is now wasted. You need a new key that fits your CAS.
You need to by a blank key, and then you will need to borrow or buy a BMW key programmer or cable called BMW Multi Tool or other similar tools to add your virgin key to CAS EEPROM. Or you can find someone who has the tool to make a new key for you.

By the way, it seems that key in your photo is a valet key, which means possibly your car can be opened by someone else. You will also need to disable the old or lost keys.

The difference between Launch idiag and iCarScan:

Someone says software is basically same. IcarScan comes with 5 models free @ $66 each other than that I think maybe the same tool, you do not have to choose models when you register, you can add them as you find you need them. And you don’t have to download the 5 free software during the first time setup, I have downloaded only 2 of those 5 and will download the rest three one by one at once there is a need for new brand. I bought Launch iCarScan is for because my son’s2000 Accord had a ABS problem. The seller told me that tis IcarScan is fully compatible with this Honda but unfortunately it’s not. It can’t communicate with ABS ECU. Only motor and SRS are compatible. However it works fine with my BMW E60 and E66. You can do almost everything with these cars…

One good thing is that you don’t need to download all 5 brands while starting to use this software. But still the support is bit lame.

After all it feels that this is really worth of money.

I also test this with VW since they couldn’t reset Webasto heater in “his” indy shop, I downloaded VW few days ago and tested it with 2007 Transporter. It worked fine with my phone, however it did not recognize the VIN of the car and i had to feed it manually. after that all Ecu’s were recognized and I was able to unlock Aux Heater which were locked by some errors. Also some errors found ant those could be diagnosed as well reset. Very good thing with VW is that there are quite good explanations about the errors as well how to get rid of these.

Tablet failed connect to car with error message about the connection.

As for Honda Accord 2000 ABS not work, finally I noticed that Honda Accord 2000 ABS is through separate 5pin connector only not through OBDII when I looked the wiring diagram. despite that it was not possible to read out codes from the ABS, not even with jump wire. Assuming that the control unit is faulty I start to measure connections and wheel sensors and found one of them broken. My son replaced it and that fixed the fault.

The strange thing is that it was not possible to read out codes with the jump wire…

I assuming to receive 5 pin adapter cable next week… will be back with the result.

Another problem is I tried software on android tablet, not very good experience. First problem was while I tried to connect VCI and got message that Firmware needs to be update but there were no way to do it. I got the update done via phone. After update it works somehow but very often it fails while trying connect to car or while it tries snoop the system of the car.

There are several solutions to this problem. but incomplete solution!!!!!!!.
1: From MBE group. this just soft update : NEC PRO 57 KEY Programmer v. 11
Need buy necprog price: 2400 – 3000 EUR.
This software can read ezs for data key, and read password from key ( ver. 51 or ver. 57)
So if loss keys this soft cannot do…. and if problem EZS this soft cannot fix it.
(RESULT: THIS SOFT JUST WORK FOR MAKE SPARE KEYS.. NEED KEY WORKED)

There are only two types of software to perform new EZS type..

I had the KESS V2 firmware 4.036 with software v2.15. It works on many cars, but failed to work on 12V truck and gearbox. So i went to mhhauto and DK forum, here are the suggestions they provided:

I am a Toyota Land cruiser prado 2006 owner. I currently have SBB and Xtool PS2 GDS programmer, but they failed to program a normal key for Prado. I consulted a key programmer online eshop obd365.com and here is the solution. Hope it will help whose who had the same problem as mine.

Do it on bench....read the immo and write a transponder
Use Tango key pro to read 93C66 on Immo or 93C56 on ECU
Also you can use TangoPlus (Tango + Kline obd adapter) to reset the immo then you program 2 keys....Goodluck

I bought this E53 with only one key, its remote function inop. I assumed it was dead, and not having a spare makes me nervous, so I ordered a new key at BMW in Deutschland. The price was €150 (about £120) which seems fair.

Time to program the new key to the car, eh? www.obdii365.com technician and others have it though. Here it is just in case anybody else needs it. So the next time somebody searches here they can find this.

It worked like a charm, and as an added bonus, the key that came with our car also coded up just fine. So now I have two fully-functional keys. Life is good.

PROCEDURE TO FOLLOW:

1. Get into the car. Close all doors.
2. Insert new key into ignition.
3. Turn one click to the right, then turn it back, within 5 seconds.
4. Remove the ignition key and hold it so you can push its buttons.
5. Press unlock button and hold. Don't let go until step 7.
6. Within 10 seconds press and release the lock button three times.
7. Release unlock button.
8. LED flashes slowly for 10 seconds (some models).
9. Central locking system locks and unlocks (some models).
10. Step 8 or 9 indicate correct programming.
11. Repeat the above if step 8 or 9 don't happen or LED keeps flashing.
12. Re-code your other keys quickly now (see below).

NOTE: There is a maximum of 4 programmable keys allowed.
Any other keys will need to be re-coded too now (but they will still start the car!)
Perform programming of each subsequent key within 30 seconds.
