Source:https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/oganiru-igbo-etiti-oie-hails-prof-ortuanyas-historic-unn-appointment/ Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya’s appointment as the 16th Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has sparked a wave of celebration in Enugu State, especially among his kinsmen from the Nsukka cultural zone. Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that his emergence as Vice Chancellor marks a watershed moment, being the first time a son of Nsukka has ascended to lead the university since its establishment in 1960. The prominent socio-cultural youth organization, Oganiru Igbo-Etiti (OIE), has described the appointment as a victory for excellence, equity, and generational hope. In a statement jointly signed by Hon. IG Amaechi Okoro, General Secretary, and Hon. Ogbobe Chidera Stanley, President of OIE, the group commended Prof. Ortuanya’s journey as a shining example of what focused leadership and educational pursuit can achieve. The group said the new VC’s appointment is not just a personal victory, but a generational breakthrough for the people of Nsukka and the youth across Nigeria. According to OIE, Prof. Ortuanya’s elevation is a “beacon of hope,” especially for rural youth who have long believed that greatness in academia and national leadership was reserved for others. They emphasized that his story proves that the most overlooked sons of the soil can rise to lead one of Africa’s most prestigious institutions. Prof. Ortuanya, a renowned academic and legal expert, holds the prestigious Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) degree and is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and the Chartered Institute of Administration (FCIA). His professional journey spans impactful contributions in the public and private sectors, particularly as Secretary to the Enugu State Government under Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. See also Ballon d'Or: Vinicius is disrespectful -UEFA President OIE stated that they have full confidence that UNN will blossom under Ortuanya’s leadership, drawing from his years of experience, proven administrative capacity, and deep knowledge of policy formulation. The youth group called the development a “defining milestone” in the life of Nsukka people and an inspiring moment that will resonate for decades. They offered their sincere appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for approving the appointment, as well as to the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Moruf Alausa. OIE also acknowledged the roles played by the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mba, the UNN Governing Council, and the bloc of Nsukka professors and other stakeholders in making the transition successful. They described Prof. Ortuanya as a mentor, role model, and the pride of Nsukka who has proven that excellence can grow from humble beginnings. With high expectations across the university system, his appointment is seen as timely, especially as Nigerian universities face the challenge of global competitiveness, innovation, and infrastructural development. Prof. Ortuanya is expected to assume office in the coming days, where he will lead UNN into a new chapter of academic renaissance. Source:https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/peter-obi-in-talks-to-rejoin-pdp-full-2027-strategy-unfolds/ The PDP Peter Obi return agenda is heating up as Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections. Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are now working hard behind the scenes to convince Peter Obi to return to the fold. Obi, who left the PDP in 2022 to contest under the Labour Party (LP), gained major national attention during the 2023 election. Although he came third, his performance shocked many. Not only did he draw millions of votes, but he also changed the political narrative among young Nigerians. Now, the PDP wants him back. According to the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Obi still belongs in the PDP. In an interview with Arise TV, he stated clearly, “Peter Obi is a PDP man. His return will strengthen us ahead of 2027.” Moreover, Abdullahi noted that the party never considered Obi an enemy. Rather, they saw his departure as temporary. “Our doors have always been open. He is a friend, and his return will be a major boost,” he added. Because the PDP lost momentum in 2023, the leadership believes Obi’s comeback could rebuild support. Furthermore, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) still in power, opposition unity may be the only path to success in the next election. As a result, PDP figures are reaching out to Obi directly and through allies. In addition to wooing Obi, the PDP is also speaking with other opposition figures. Their goal is to build a strong coalition that can rival the APC. So far, these discussions are being held quietly, but more updates are expected soon. See also 2034 World Cup: FIFA names host country Interestingly, Peter Obi has not officially reacted to the PDP’s invitation. Even so, political watchers believe something is in motion. Many of his supporters remain loyal but would welcome his move back to the PDP especially if it means increasing his chances in 2027. Therefore, the idea of a PDP Peter Obi return is not just talk it is part of a larger opposition strategy. If successful, it could reshape Nigeria’s political map and bring new energy to the PDP. For now, all eyes remain on Obi as he weighs his next political move. Will he stay with Labour or lead a grand opposition comeback with his former party? Source: https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/just-in-tinubu-renames-university-of-maiduguri-after-buhari/ President Bola Tinubu has officially renamed the University of Maiduguri to Muhammadu Buhari University, in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. The announcement came during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) special tribute session held in Abuja. Tinubu described the renaming as a way to immortalise Buhari’s legacy in the education sector and the country at large. According to President Tinubu, “The University of Maiduguri will henceforth be known as Muhammadu Buhari University.” This decision follows the passing of Buhari and aligns with ongoing national efforts to honour past leaders who left a mark on Nigeria’s development. The late Buhari, who served two terms as president, was remembered during the FEC event for his discipline, leadership, and contributions to national stability. Government officials, including ministers and top aides, were present at the emotional ceremony where Tinubu praised Buhari as “unmoved by power and unseduced by applause.” The renaming has drawn mixed reactions online. Supporters welcomed the move as timely and symbolic. Others, however, questioned the trend of renaming public institutions without public input. This is not the first time a Nigerian university has been renamed to honour a national figure. Similar changes have occurred in past administrations, sparking debates about legacy, memory, and merit. As the news spreads, many await the formal gazette and expected changes to official documents, academic records, and school signage. The University of Maiduguri, now Muhammadu Buhari University, remains one of Nigeria’s leading federal universities in the North-East. It has produced thousands of graduates across disciplines and played a critical role during the fight against Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State. Source:https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/who-approves-hiv-drug-to-help-nigerians-amid-us-blow/ The global fight against HIV suffered a major setback in early 2025 after the United States suspended funding for foreign HIV programs. This decision, part of a 90-day freeze on all development aid, triggered global concern about a possible resurgence of the AIDS epidemic, especially in developing nations like Nigeria. However, there is a glimmer of hope. The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved a powerful new HIV prevention drug called lenacapavir. This long-acting medication only needs to be taken twice a year. Experts say it could transform how HIV is prevented, especially in places with weak healthcare access. Gilead Sciences, the company behind lenacapavir, has announced a deal with the Global Fund to supply the drug at no profit. The agreement covers up to 2 million people in low- and lower-middle-income countries, including Nigeria. According to Gilead CEO Daniel O’Day, the company will only charge for the cost of producing and delivering the medicine. “We are providing the medicine at no profit to Gilead,” he said in a statement, “and in enough supply to reach up to two million people.” Peter Sands, Executive Director of the Global Fund, said lenacapavir could “fundamentally change the trajectory of the HIV epidemic.” But he warned that success depends on reaching those who need it most. “Our ambition is to reach two million people with long-acting PrEP,” Sands noted, “but we can only do that if the world steps up with the resources required.” HIV, which attacks the body’s immune cells, is usually spread through unprotected sex or shared needles. If left untreated, it can lead to AIDS, which causes weight loss, night sweats, and frequent infections. There is still no cure for AIDS, but antiretroviral therapy (ARV) helps people manage the virus and live longer, healthier lives. See also Liverpool beat Aston Villa, open 5-points gap on Premier League table With the new WHO-approved drug, many see a chance to reach more vulnerable communities before the epidemic regains momentum. Although the US funding freeze remains in place, the rollout of lenacapavir may help fill the gap. The drug’s promise lies in its ease of use, reliability, and ability to prevent infection with just two doses per year. If scaled fairly and efficiently, lenacapavir could reshape HIV prevention across Africa. In a time of uncertainty, it stands as a beacon of hope Source:https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/who-approves-hiv-drug-to-help-nigerians-amid-us-blow/.

Source:https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/tinubus-2027-ambition-is-dangerous-bucknor-akerele/ Former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Senator Kofo Bucknor-Akerele, has described President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election ambition as a misplaced priority. She said the president should focus on solving Nigeria’s deep-rooted problems instead of planning for a second term. Bucknor-Akerele made this known during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, 17, 2025. She criticised what she sees as early political posturing by the presidency amid rising hardship across the country. “Unfortunately, what I see right now is that the president is already looking at a second term. That seems to be his focus,” she said. The former deputy governor, who served under Tinubu between 1999 and 2002 before resigning, expressed disappointment in the current leadership direction. She stressed that the country needs urgent social and economic reforms, not early election preparations. Bucknor-Akerele is a member of The Patriots, a respected non-partisan group led by former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku. The group has consistently advocated national restructuring and long-term reforms for a better Nigeria. “I think he should pay attention to what people like Emeka Anyaoku and others of that calibre are doing,” she added. “They’re working to develop real solutions that will secure the future of this country.” She urged President Tinubu’s advisers to shift his attention away from politics and towards rebuilding the nation. “I hope his advisers can tell him that 2027 is not the priority now. The real task is to build a foundation that can make Nigeria truly great,” she said. President Tinubu, elected in 2023, has come under fire in recent months over the worsening economic conditions and rising public frustration. See also NDLEA Osun Arrests 252 Suspects, Records 57 convictions in 2023 Critics argue that many of his policies have failed to ease inflation, food scarcity, and insecurity. As Nigerians continue to demand real change, calls like Bucknor-Akerele’s are increasing in volume. Observers warn that focusing on 2027 politics while ignoring national suffering could damage public trust. Source:https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/tinubus-2027-ambition-is-dangerous-bucknor-akerele/

Source:https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/momodu-believes-atiku-is-nigerias-biggest-political-threat/ Renowned media mogul and political commentator, Mr. Dele Momodu, has officially defected from PDP to ADC, citing internal challenges. He explained that strategic political considerations and ongoing internal conflicts within PDP motivated his decision to switch parties. During a televised interview on Thursday, Momodu disclosed his reasons for changing political affiliations, emphasizing his support. He voiced unwavering backing for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, stating he would support him ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Source:https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/momodu-believes-atiku-is-nigerias-biggest-political-threat/ Momodu’s endorsement of Atiku is rooted in what he describes as a pragmatic understanding of Nigeria’s political landscape. According to him, Atiku remains the most formidable opposition figure capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). “Everybody is afraid of Atiku, and that is exactly why I, Dele Momodu, support him,” he stated. “The fear the ruling party has for him shows he remains the most formidable opposition figure today. When everyone is trying to discredit or silence a man, it means he’s the one they truly fear.” Defection from PDP: A Strategic Move Explaining his decision to leave the PDP, Momodu highlighted the party’s inability to address internal divisions following its 2022 primaries. He criticized the lack of meaningful reconciliation efforts and the absence of internal democracy within the party, which he believes has rendered it ineffective as an opposition force. “Since 2022, PDP has been struggling to stay alive. Those who lost the primaries, whether as presidential aspirants or would-be running mates, felt betrayed. No reconciliation meetings could be held. The party became paralyzed,” Momodu remarked. See also Uzor Kalu is alive, says Senator's aide, warns rumour mongers In response to allegations of opportunism due to his frequent party defections, Momodu defended his actions as necessary for survival in Nigeria’s current political climate. He accused the APC of attempting to establish a one-party dictatorship and described his move to ADC as part of a broader strategy to reposition the opposition. “When an armed robber invades your home, your first priority is survival. What APC is doing today is turning Nigeria into a one-party dictatorship. So what we are doing is strategic repositioning,” he explained. “You don’t play Brazil by playing Brazil’s game. We are playing APC in a way they don’t understand, and clearly, it’s working.” Addressing Criticism and Opposition Unity Momodu also addressed concerns about fractures within the opposition coalition due to personal ambitions, emphasizing that power is essential for enacting change. He argued that merit and electoral numbers should take precedence over geographic considerations. “Without power, all of us are just contestants. Change cannot come unless we first take power. And power isn’t about where you come from; it’s about who can get the votes. We must stop pretending geography is more important than merit,” he said. He dismissed calls for power to remain in the South, referencing comments made by PDP stalwart Bode George. Momodu pointed out that Nigeria’s political arithmetic favors candidates who can garner widespread support across the country. “This is not about zoning; it’s about numbers. The North has 19 states, the South has 17. You can’t ignore the arithmetic. If a Northerner like Atiku has the numbers and Nigerians vote for him, so be it,” he asserted. See also Woman faces charges for cutting lovers manhood in Ekiti Defending Atiku’s Candidacy Responding to criticisms about Atiku Abubakar’s repeated contests and age, Momodu emphasized persistence as democratic courage. He pointed out that presidential incumbents like Tinubu, being older, remain in office, so Atiku should also be able to run. Furthermore, Momodu highlighted that Buhari contested four times before winning, illustrating that perseverance leads to success. He added that Abraham Lincoln lost multiple elections before becoming president, exemplifying resilience in democracy. Finally, Momodu reminded that even Donald Trump attempted a comeback, proving persistence is a sign of bravery, not flaw. Momodu expressed confidence in Atiku’s ability to lead Nigeria out of its current challenges, including poverty and failed policies. He reiterated that opposition forces must unite behind candidates who can secure electoral victory. “Atiku is not the enemy. The enemy is one-party rule, failed policies, and poverty. Our coalition will determine who flies the flag, but no one, especially not APC, will dictate who we support. Atiku is the man to beat,” he concluded. Implications for 2027 Elections Momodu’s defection and endorsement signal growing momentum within Nigeria’s opposition as it prepares for the 2027 presidential election. His strategic repositioning and vocal support for Atiku underscore broader efforts to challenge APC dominance and reshape Nigeria’s political future. As political alignments continue to evolve, all eyes will be on how opposition coalitions navigate internal dynamics and rally behind a unified candidate capable of securing widespread national support.

Source: https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/trump-announces-coca-colas-return-to-using-cane-sugar-in-u-s-production/ HealthTrump Announces Coca-Cola’s Return to Using Cane Sugar in U.S. ProductionPublished 2 hours ago on July 17, 2025By Precious Nwabuisi FacebookTwitterWhatsAppTelegramLinkedInEmailCopy LinkShare United States President Donald Trump has announced that Coca-Cola will return to using real cane sugar in its U.S.-made soft drinks. He said the move follows his personal discussions with the beverage giant. Taking to Truth Social on Wednesday, July 16, Trump wrote, “I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so.” He thanked the company’s top executives and called the decision a “very good move,” adding, “You’ll see. It’s just better!” So far, Coca-Cola has not confirmed the ingredient change. However, the company responded to Trump’s post with a short statement. It expressed appreciation for the president’s “enthusiasm” for the Coca-Cola brand. The statement also hinted at upcoming product announcements, saying more details on “new innovative offerings” will be released soon. While Trump didn’t explain why he pushed for the change, many see the influence of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a known critic of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Kennedy has called HFCS a “formula for making you obese and diabetic,” and has vowed to challenge food companies over their use of ultra-processed ingredients. HFCS became the go-to sweetener in American sodas during the 1980s, largely due to U.S. corn subsidies and sugar tariffs. Meanwhile, Coca-Cola in countries like Mexico has continued to use cane sugar a version many fans say tastes better. Health-wise, some consumers believe cane sugar is more “natural” or safer. But the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says there’s no scientific proof showing any health benefit over HFCS. A 2018 FDA statement confirmed it was “not aware of any evidence” that cane sugar is safer than HFCS or other sweeteners like honey. See also France expels Tunisian cleric for calling flag 'satanic' If implemented, this ingredient shift would mark a major change in Coca-Cola’s U.S. production. It could also signal a broader effort by Trump and Kennedy’s team to fight the dominance of ultra-processed ingredients in American diets. So far, there’s no timeline for when U.S. Coke products will make the official switch. Source: https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/just-in-peter-obi-explains-why-he-missed-buharis-burial/ Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has clarified the circumstances that prevented him from attending the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, held in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday. Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Obi gave his explanation during the Fidau prayers organized in honour of the late Nigerian leader on Wednesday, a day after the burial. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Obi said his absence was due to logistical difficulties, specifically the unavailability of flights to the late president’s hometown. “It was difficult for me to get to Daura yesterday,” Obi explained. “There was no flight. Anyone who comes even tomorrow is still part of the mourning.” Despite missing the main burial ceremony, Obi arrived in Daura on Wednesday alongside several other political dignitaries to pay their respects and condole with the family of the deceased. Also present in Daura were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, among other prominent Nigerians. The visiting dignitaries proceeded to the graveyard where the late president was laid to rest, joining clerics and residents in offering prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul. Former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away earlier this week after a period of illness, was buried in accordance with Islamic rites within 24 hours of his death. The burial took place on Tuesday amidst tight security and a heavy presence of political and traditional leaders from across the country. The Fidau prayers held on Wednesday drew an even larger crowd, including top government officials, party leaders, and members of the international diplomatic community. See also Labour Declares Nationwide Protest Over Hardship Peter Obi’s visit, though belated, was seen by observers as a mark of national solidarity that transcended political rivalry. As one of the key opponents of Buhari’s party in the 2023 presidential elections, Obi’s presence reaffirmed the tradition of national unity in times of grief. The former president, who ruled Nigeria between 2015 and 2023 under the All Progressives Congress (APC), left behind a legacy marked by both praise and criticism. While some credited him for infrastructural development and anti-corruption efforts, others faulted his administration for rising insecurity and economic hardship. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier led the federal government delegation at the burial and Fidau prayers. In his condolence message, Tinubu described Buhari as “a patriot who served Nigeria with dedication.” Obi, on his part, praised Buhari for his contributions to Nigeria’s development, even as he emphasized the need for continued prayers for the country and its leaders. Source: https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/lamine-yamals-birthday-bash-sparks-disability-rights-probe/#google_vignette Barcelona footballer Lamine Yamal is currently under official investigation following serious complaints about the nature of entertainment at his recent 18th birthday party. The controversy centers on claims that Yamal hired entertainers with dwarfism for the celebration, an act criticized by disability rights groups in Spain as discriminatory and degrading. The party, held on a private estate in Olivella about 50 kilometers northwest of Barcelona, featured a mixture of guests including famous musicians such as Bizarrap and Bad Gyal, Barcelona teammates, and social media influencers. While the event was styled with an Italian mafia theme and included various performances, the spotlight fell on the inclusion of entertainers with dwarfism. This sparked a backlash from the Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias in Spain (ADEE). ADEE publicly condemned the use of people with dwarfism as part of the entertainment at Yamal’s celebration, labeling it “unacceptable in the 21st century.” They argued that this practice perpetuates harmful stereotypes, fuels discrimination, and undermines the dignity and rights of people with disabilities. The association cited relevant Spanish legislation that explicitly prohibits shows or activities portraying people with disabilities in a manner provoking mockery or derision. It emphasized that such acts violate fundamental ethical values of an egalitarian society. Following a legal complaint filed by ADEE, Spain’s Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and 2030 Agenda formally requested the country’s prosecutor’s office to investigate whether Yamal’s party breached laws protecting disabled individuals’ rights. A ministry spokesperson confirmed that the investigation aims to determine if the entertainment at the event contravened the legal protections afforded to people with disabilities. See also Liverpool and Man City eye Yamal amid Barca crisis Despite the outrage, the entertainers themselves involved in the party have defended the event. Speaking anonymously on Catalan radio station RAC1, one performer with dwarfism stated that no disrespect or humiliation occurred during the party, which lasted around an hour. The artist described themselves and their colleagues as professional entertainers who performed legally and with dignity, engaging in activities such as dancing, serving drinks, and performing magic tricks. They criticized ADEE for allegedly trying to restrict their legitimate employment opportunities, attributing the association’s opposition to internal politics following a leadership change. “We are not fairground monkeys,” the performer asserted, emphasizing their self-awareness and respect for boundaries, and expressing confusion over the public backlash. They argued that entertainers with dwarfism have the right to work and entertain and lamented that ADEE’s actions harm rather than help their community. Meanwhile, a Barcelona club spokesperson commented that the incident falls within Yamal’s private life, and the club was presently not in a position to comment. However, they noted that Barcelona would reconsider its stance if concrete information emerged from the investigation. The controversy has also drawn attention on social media. There, a video was posted by Dominican rapper Chimbala, who is also of short stature. It showed him performing on stage at the party alongside Yamal and Barcelona teammates, illustrating the festive atmosphere of the occasion. The video and related posts received significant engagement, reflecting the party’s high profile. Yamal, who has rapidly risen as one of Barcelona’s brightest talents and is considered a potential future Ballon d’Or winner, is now facing possible fines and legal consequences. See also Trump declares 90 days suspension of tariffs for global trade allies, exempts China Reports suggest penalties could reach substantial sums if the investigation concludes that Spanish disability laws were violated. This incident spotlights ongoing tensions about representation, respect, and inclusion of people with disabilities in the entertainment industry. It raises complex questions about autonomy, dignity, and societal perceptions of disability. Some view using performers with dwarfism at private parties as exploitative and perpetuating degrading stereotypes. On the other hand, others in the affected community stress the importance of their right to work freely and be recognized as professional entertainers. As the Spanish prosecutor’s office examines the case, it underscores the broader societal imperative to balance protecting vulnerable communities from discrimination with respecting individual freedoms. The outcome will likely resonate beyond Yamal’s private event, potentially influencing future legal and ethical standards related to disability rights and entertainment in Spain. At present, Yamal himself and his representatives have not issued public statements addressing the allegations or investigation. The Spanish Ministry of Social Rights and ADEE remain vocal in their commitment to upholding the dignity and legal protections of people with disabilities. Affected performers on the other hand advocate for recognition of their professionalism and autonomy within the entertainment sector. Source? https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/wike-acts-like-he-owns-abuja-kingibe-calls-out-tinubus-decision/ enator Ireti Kingibe has slammed Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, calling his appointment President Tinubu’s worst mistake so far. During an explosive ARISE News interview, Kingibe accused Wike of autocracy and legal violations. She claimed he governs Abuja like a dictator and disregards the rule of law entirely. FCT senator Ireti Kingibe “The minister doesn’t obey the law. He acts autocratically. When I try to remind him that governance must follow legal principles, he brushes it aside,” she said. She further accused Wike of restoring defunct agencies without legal approval. Instead of seeking National Assembly endorsement, he simply forced them into operation. “If he wants those agencies, he should follow legal steps. But he doesn’t. He just imposes them,” she added. Kingibe then referenced a land scandal involving the University of Abuja. She claimed Wike revoked 7,000 hectares out of the 11,000 previously allocated to the institution allegedly violating the Land Use Act. She also condemned his decision to fire hundreds of underprivileged women who had worked as street cleaners across Abuja. Wike neither retained their jobs nor brought in mechanical alternatives, according to Kingibe. “He removed the women and didn’t replace them with machines. Now, the city looks dirty,” she stated. On unpaid contractors, she revealed that more than 400 small firms remain unpaid after completing government projects. Wike allegedly dismissed their claims because he did not award the contracts. “He says, ‘I didn’t give them the job,’ so he won’t pay. But that’s not how governance works,” Kingibe argued. She then downplayed Wike’s supposed popularity in recent polls. She challenged him to test his support in the coming FCT local government elections. See also APGA Chairman, Edozie Njoku, sacks Ikwueto, Ikpeazu, Agunzi, others as party lawyers “Let’s see if he tells people to vote and they obey. If not, then all he’s doing is blustering,” she said. Furthermore, she accused Wike of revoking land in Bwari that had been earmarked for a general hospital. Instead, she claimed, he plans to convert it into a market or mall. She also criticized his actions against embassies, accusing him of aggressively demanding ground rent while refusing to explain how he manages internally generated revenue (IGR). “He doesn’t give any reports on what he does with the TSA or IGR,” she stated. “That’s unacceptable.” When asked if she feared Wike, Kingibe responded boldly. “I don’t fear him. And I don’t expect him to fear me either. But he should know I will always find out what he’s doing.” Kingibe recounted a disturbing moment when a black SUV followed her after an oversight trip to Sokoto. However, she insisted that she remains unshaken. “I’m a senator of the Federal Republic. I have rights. My safety comes from God,” she said. Turning her attention to Tinubu, Kingibe said his biggest political mistake was trusting Wike with such power. “If I were to list all Tinubu’s errors, putting Wike in office tops the list,” she declared. Finally, Kingibe confirmed her plan to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). She revealed that she has operated without a political party for months, following Labour Party infighting. “We’re now building momentum. ADC has gained strength in the FCT. Many politicians are coming in, and we’re getting ready for a major battle in 2026,” she said. I funded my Tribapay account and went onto to fund my attached USD virtual card for purchases as usual and for over 24 hours now the card has not been loaded yet. About 24 hours now they didn't load my card and the collected the funds. Their customer care has refused to rectify it. This is weird, Are they become another Payday scam? |

Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), has announced a new scholarship scheme for undergraduates in Nigeria called “COPDEM Scholarship Program”. Aimed to support tertiary students, the scheme is coming on stream on the backdrop of growing costs of tertiary education in Nigeria, making such cadre of education inaccessible to Nigerians. Speaking on the scheme, Kevin Jakpor, one of the officers of COPDEM said that the initiative stems from COPDEM’s commitment provide educational opportunities to deserving students while fostering a culture of democracy, critical thinking, and civic engagement. “By investing in the education of young minds, COPDEM aims to contribute to the overall development of a well-informed and empowered citizenry”, he said. COPDEM is a coalition of Nigerians in and outside Nigeria, impassioned by the pressing need for active involvement in the development of partisan politics. It found its roots, in the 2023 general election, marked by electoral malpractices and infractions on the 2022 Electoral Act. According to the coalition, the COPDEM Scholarship Program takes a significant step towards building a brighter future for Nigeria, where education and democratic values go hand in hand. This initiative reflects COPDEM’s unwavering commitment to fostering positive change and empowering the next generation of leaders in Nigeria.
