So I recently decided to try freelancing because like most of us, I was looking for legit ways to make money online. I kept hearing about Fiverr and Upwork, and honestly, I didn’t know which one to start with. I first tried Fiverr. Setting up was easy – I just created a gig and waited. At first, no one was buying and I almost gave up. But after tweaking my gig description and adding a nice image, I got my first order. The pay wasn’t much, but the feeling of making my first $5 online was crazy! 😅 The downside though is the competition – thousands of people are offering the same service, so you need patience and consistency. Later, I opened an Upwork account. That one humbled me, lol. You have to send proposals to clients, and as a beginner with zero reviews, most clients don’t reply. But when I eventually landed a job, the pay was much better than Fiverr, and the client kept coming back. So it feels like Upwork is more stable for long-term growth, but harder to break into. 👉 My conclusion: Fiverr is better if you just want to get started and make your first dollars online. Upwork is better if you’re ready to put in effort and build a serious freelance career. I’m curious though – which platform worked best for you as a beginner? Do you think it’s better to start with Fiverr for quick wins or Upwork for long-term growth? |
