youdontknoe: Getting back to writing again. But hopefully I can stay anonymous while I pour out my heart.
Life is hard. And I am going through a situation that I don’t know if I can share with anyone in my physical world yet. But I need to share till the heaviness is gone.
Who am I? Someone who wished she could undo many things, especially the decision to get married.
I have googled divorce reasons more than 10 times today alone. I don’t even know if I am ok. No, I am not been physically or emotionally abused. I am not been cheated on. At least not that I know. I am just disconnected, tired and no one would really understand why I want to walk away from a 2 year marriage. Or maybe someone here will.
Let’s just say that there is no reason to rush marriage. But once you hit age 30, somehow the bells keep ringing everywhere around you and the pressure heightens. I wanted it. I wanted to marry for love, companionship and I wanted to choose. But, time was flying and someone came that felt right at the time and I genuinely was a good person. The person was overly in love with me. Or maybe it was the idea of me. A successful independent woman living life on her own terms. Somehow we started dating and in 9 months, we were married. And we were happy at the time. Or I was. Until we started living together.
We had counseling. So it wasn’t a matter of ignorance. But the foolish butterflies didn’t make me see road.
I guess from the very beginning I just settled. Settled for a quiet hush hush wedding. For someone who had always wanted a glam wedding, I didn’t have one. The other person just couldn’t be bothered and concluded that paying bride price was the only thing that signified marriage. We were not in the Nigeria so that happened in our absence. He wasn’t buoyant but I was understanding. I gathered money together. We had only 3 other people at the civil wedding. The plan was that we were going to go back home to throw the big party later. Never did and I’ve heard many times that it won’t be happening.
I thought marriage will complete me. No. It just drained me so much. I will be very blunt with you...I don't mean to hurt you but you really need to have things in perspective and take ownership to feel better and walk a path that will make your life better. Thing you didn't get right: 1. You married out of desperation. Unfortunately, you seems to be bothered by what the society says, and how you make people feels rather than how your action and inaction will contribute to your life plans. 2. You resent your husband for being 'poor' or should I say you resent him for his inability to match your spending power. You set a standard he is unable to meet and you resent him for it! 3. You want to control the home because you bring the large meat to the table. You feel since you are the one that provides the lion share, you should have total control in the union. 4. You major in the irrelevants, and you seems be the show-off type who will still complain that others are not interested in putting their own resources in your wasteful spending. You have don wedding but you pepper others dey hungry you. Things you can do better: 1. Submit the leadership of the home to your husband. It is not a woman's duty to lead the home. You should support him in running the affairs of the home. What your husband lack, complement him. Don't take away his shield because you are the one with more money. 2. Look inward and count your blessings. So many are more frustrated because no man is ready to put them under their roof. Be grateful you are married and you have the dignity. Single people can't understand this, please. It's an illusion to think your life will be better off being single, but as days goes by, it becomes miserable being unmarried at certain age. Companionship can never be overpriced. 3. Help your husband be the best he can be. Be his leverage, not his competitor. You can help him grow his portfolio, to have as much as you have, if submitting to someone not having as much as you is so difficult. 4. If you so desire big party, you and your husband can have that big party when you are doing your child's naming! No point re-doing party for a marriage of 2 years. People will have their eyes on you two...that you have too much money, and that may be the beginning of a bigger problem for your home. In all you do, remember that being a divorcee or a single mother is more difficult than being in a marriage you are not invested in. I wish you the best of luck. If you want to talk, you can send an email. Peace. |

This is a really sad story.
I think he was doing the right, scolding the boy for behaving badly and for keeping late nights, at the wrong time.
A boy that came home probably drunk, and overdose on drugs shouldn't be confronted at all. He could have dealt with him when the toxic stuff in his body system don calm...probably by evening the next day.
We all need to be sensitive, and be emotionally aware.
May the soul of the father find rest. 🙏
The boy should be tested for alcohol, substances and tried for murder. He should be prosecuted by the full weight of the law. |

ElevationD: And the topic clearly states “Justice Crack denies Sowore’s lawyer, M. Abubakar…”
Even if you did not read the post, did you not even read the heading? From the heading, how did you not know the name of Sowore’s lawyer? How have you not known that Marshall Abubakar, has been Sowore’s lawyer for ages? Tor. No point arguing with you. What is true is the truth. |
Politics › Re: Justice Crack Denies Sowore's Lawyer, M. Abubakar As Clash Ensues In Court by decatalyst(m): 8:45pm On May 16 |
ElevationD: Clearly you did not read. And even if you read, you would have had better understanding.
For clarity, note what transpired:
1. Abubakar who was commissioned by Sowore and consented by Justice Crack had been appearing on his behalf.
2. When Crack was declared missing by his family, human rights activists, including the same Sowore and his lawyer took it upon themselves to track him down to the military authorities.
3. Barrister Abdullahi followed up with the case from day one and raised the bail application originally.
4. The family watched all through and probably thought of changing the lawyer. Their reasons are up to them and Justice Crack.
5. Barrister Balogun would have been briefed by his family about the situation in the court. Rather than make his enquiries with Barrister Abubakar, Balogun chose to ambush him when the case was called up. Balogun presented himself as the lawyer based on the brief by the family of Justice Crack.
6. Not wanting to engage in unnecessary arguments with the “na me be the lawyer” Mr. Balogun, Sowore’s lawyer chose to withdraw his application and all processes that he had previously filed.
7. The same Justice Crack who would probably have gone home either yesterday or today, was returned to detention until the 18th of May.
8. How would Sowore’s lawyer discern or work with Mr. Balogun, when Mr. Abubakar was not previously informed about the decision that they had taken? How would he work with Mr. Balogun, when it was very clear that they had ambushed him?
Having to identify his preferred lawyer between the two, without respectfully notifying Sowore and Abubakar, clearly showed Justice Crack and his family as either ungrateful or non challant people. I think you mixed it all up. Read again. Abubaker isn't sowore's lawyers o. Abubaker was initially handling the case before Sowore busybody bring another lawyer. Well, I hope Justice Mark made the right call by sacking his lawyer in the law court. At least he will pay for it by spending more days before the hearing of his bail hearing that will be filed by the new yoruba lawyer. |
