Hi friends in nairaland, Water Melon farming is real as I said because am a big time committed farmer having my large scale farm in Ota, Ogun state. Water Melon farming is capital intensive in terms of land, seedlings and Labour but has high returns for your investment. However, for one 2 start water melon farming, 1st, one has to undergo a training programme either of a two-day or a one week depending on your decision to start-up. A two-day course/practical will cost a prospective entreprenuer the sum of 15,000/20000. After the training programme, the entrepreneur is expected 2 source for the land/seedlings for the farming with the help of the consultant. Thereafter, the intending farmer will begin the preparation of the farm land by clearing and the procurement of the hybreed seedlings. The expected harvest is for 85 days that means round the clock for one year is 4 harvests In marketting, there is already market you can sell, open market, dealers, hoteliers, etc Further enquiries can be forwarded to me on this post in nairaland , i will be pleased to reply. Thanks
