tallsalako:
I was at the pg portal this afternoon with my signed and complete docs but my application was not accepted, they said they are not accepting 2015/2016 form but 2016, saying I should keep checking online till 2015/2016 changes to 2016 and if it doesn't change till tomorrow I should come to the pg portal, any similar experience?

Had similar experience! We just have to keep checking... So tiresome

I wonder their reasons for not ensuring allocation of spaces (accommodation) before asking us to resume.

Thank you very much Jaci02.

That's an amazing field of study. In public health there's great demand for researchers, data analysts, statisticians and people who can efficiently carry out field research involving population and household studies.
Those in the field of monitoring, evaluation, measurement and learning are usually statisticians, skilled in the field of population studies, demography and development studies.
There are other disciplines that are beneficial to public health practitioners, such fields are Gender Studies, Development Studies, Health Planning & Management, Health Economics the list is endless.
You can become a specialist in data collection, mapping and designing of data analysis tools for field based research surveys.
When public health practitioners in NGOs want to measure the level of impact their health projects have in addressing it's intervention strategies, they call in researchers who are in the discipline you mentioned.
So if that's where your interest lies, then carry on.

use one-way analysis of variance if the test variable i.e. the scores ( the dependent variable ) follows a normal distribution in each level of your Independent Categorical Variable which is Plants , otherwise, use a kruskal Wallis Test. I would suggest you use Kruskal Walli because the sample size for each level is not large enough and may show skewness.
Career / Re: Nigerian Statisticians/Analysts Forum by deedav: 7:49pm On Jan 30, 2015
Yeah! R is one crazy software! I am still learning ; it does complex statistical analysis, manipulations etc. You just need to know what you are doing in R and how it works. Statisticians are moving towards programming language (SQL)! The field of Demography (my field) isn't left out.

If you are willing to learn R, coursera.com will be of profound help in this regard. Lastly, you will do yourself some good by being a member of a statistics group on linkedin, so you can be be updated on the latest in the world of statistics.

my fellow statisticians in the house, I greet you all and to my upcoming statisticians please keep learning and upgrading! Nigeria will soon know how important statistics is to national development.
Career / Re: Nigerian Statisticians/Analysts Forum by deedav: 8:41pm On Dec 07, 2014
Greetings to all great statisticians in the house!!!!

Statistics is a great field, I believe it equips one with the ability to see logically, think logically, take logical decisions and even critique illogicality.
Depending on which sector one wishes to dive into, there's that crystal clear need for one not only to understand data but understand the workings, operations and mechanism in that sector which bring about the data in other for one to be relevant and be more proficient and effective.

Statistics is the larger body, it now boils down to you discerning where you fit in the broad field of human life be it in Engineering, Public Health, Behavioural sciences, Actuarial sciences, Population Studies etc.

thank you!

I studied Demography and Social Statistics.

Education / Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by deedav: 11:13pm On Oct 06, 2014
I hail all the mathematics authorities in the house! Please I need a prompt response to this bothersome maths question:

there are two possible routes to Lagos to Ijebu Ode. One route is through Lagos/Ibadan expressway which 100km and the other is through Ikorodu and Epe covering a distance of 80km. A motorist going through the express way can travel 10km/hr faster than the one going through Ikorodu and Epe, and arrive Ijebu Ode 5mins earlier as well. what is the timr spent on the journey to Ijebu Ode by the motorist travelling through the expressway?

thank you all in anticipation!
