macof: why stress the matter? deji47 already made it all clear Thanks. We are all learning. paris10: when pronouncing the 'stab' part, it comes with just one syllable. Its Ogun and not O' Gun. Even in a case where the O is used in isolation just as you mentioned, it is still marked in a vocative case... e.g O Canada ( National Anthem entrance). Such character are usually seen as a vowel that complement a word. Oh' would be more appropriate and would mean two seperate words. If you said pronounced as a word, maybe....but as a Syllable? What is a Syllable? What would the pronunciation for more than one person stabbing a particular person be? "won gun". A syllable too or a word? Would also love to know more about " vowels that compliment words" as I have not heard of that before. Here to learn. |
Culture › Re: What Do We Call This? Yoruba I Hail Thee! by deji47: 5:09am On Jun 21, 2016 |
Op, I do not see the Yoruba translation of "stab, climb and pound" as single words. Meaning the "o" & "gun" are separate. The former been a pronoun and the latter a verb. I stand to be corrected. |

AyLuxury: 3. Sneak peak A "peak" is a mountain top. A "peek" is a quick look. The correct expression is "sneak peek" which would mean to have a secret or early look at something.
19. Peaked my interest To "pique" means to arouse, so the correct phrase here should be "piqued my interest," meaning that your interest was awoken. To say that something "peaked my interest" would mean that it looked at my interest. - Quite educating. However you made the same Grammatical error you were trying to correct. As deduced from point 3, PEAKED AT MY INTEREST cannot mean LOOKED AT MY INTEREST as you pointed out in point 19. |

Anyway what i shop for is totally worth it. It will hopefully and in the not too distant future. At #225-#230 I bought the things I needed most. However I dilly dallied on a phone I wanted and now well, it's not worth it at #274 again. I guess for a lady the things u shop for, will be worth it sha. miqos02: there is no ban but restriction, I was restricted around december 26th, but since january 1st, I have done $450 worth of purchase via stanbic Yes I have deduced that already. My grouse is that these banks have turned to "black marketers" with the rates they are offering. Unfortunately the CBN is turning a blind eye to this daylight "Round Tripping" by the Banks. |

The summary which is that CASH cannot be withdrawn outside the country but transactions can be made over POS terminals and on the internet(online). I guess this allays all fears about the ban.
