ositadima1:Hmmm. Not too bad. Personally rate of 18% and above for 364 days is okay by me. Members should kindly update us on their offered rates. Still waiting for Stanbic and GT banks to tell me their rates. |
[quote author=dejiotus post=54869153]Just received a phone call from one of my account officers claiming that cbn is frowning and could penalised banks, that are buying more treasury bills than required, with the intention to sell later to their customers with less than 50M. I hope this is not a plot to bid down the rate she is going to offer me. I am still waiting for her offer. |
ihedioramma:Many thanks. I will need to open an account with First bank if all these other banks are becoming too greedy by offering much lower rates than their successful bidding rates. The dilemma is how to know the bank's successful bidding rates. |
ihedioramma:Are you very sure of this. And is FBNH the regular First bank? |
zamirikpo:I guess it will be for most banks. That is my experience with Stanbic, gt and Zenith. Some of the banks I have accounts with. Zenith rejected my bid of 18.25% for the primary auction on 15 March because of the new rule, (which would have been successful with the old rule), but later offered me 17.5% (less than the stop rate by more than 1%), which I rejected. I transfered my money to Stanbic, and watching Stanbic with an eagle eye this week to see what will happen. Impressed by Stanbic last week who offered 18.3% to their customers in my similar situations. I am also waiting for the rate GT bank will offer me this week as well. GT apparently offered 18% to their customers last week. All the tenor discussed above were all for 364 |
zamirikpo:No. We now have to go with the bank's bidding rate if bidding with less than 50M |
zamirikpo:The rate is still better than the rate of 17.5% l rejected from Zenith last week (364 tenor). Unfortunately we are not able to bid our preferred rate again in the primary market if bidding with less than 50.010 million naira |
It will also be helpful if there is anyway to know the different bank's successful bidding rates. I doubt if this is possible however. Some banks may want to be too greedy, and for example may offer 16 % for 364 day tenor claiming the bank's winning bid is 16.2%. Just being hypothetical here. I am awaiting response from both Stanbic and Gt bank, (both for 364 day tenor), and I will update the house on the offers I get. I declined the offer from Zenith last week when I was offered a rate of 17.5% when the stop rate for 364 day tenor was 18.558% |
Please can anyone please give me an update. I bank with GTBank and I will like to invest 5 Million in Treasury Bills. My Question: When next is the auction date? Is it possible to invest my 5 million or it must only be 50 Million and above? Did anyone from GTBank invest less the 50 Million in the last auction and it went through? Please update needed as soon as possible. Thanks There is TB auction tomorrow. Since we, small guys, with less than 50M are unable to bid directly in the primary market, you can send an urgent request to your account officer immediately. The expectation is that GT could add your 5M to the amount the bank intends to bid for tomorrow, and sell to you in the secondary market with a small margin. Please be aware we are at the mercy of the banks now, and we only have to hope the banks will be considerate with the % margin the banks will deduct from the their successful bidding rate |

munezo:Many thanks for the information. Zenith bank messed me up last week despite quoting a rate of 18.25% for 364 days, which is less than the marginal rate. I was expecting the bank to add my little money to the amount the bank was bidding for. Was very upset when the bank offered 17.5% afterwards in contrast to 18% from GT bank and 18.3% from Stanbic for customers in roughly similar situations to myself. Members should let us know how the different banks are performing, as we are the mercy of these banks, with this rule of not being able to quote your rate if bidding less than 50M |
Good afternoon to all the gurus in the house. Can someone kindly advise the house if there is Treasury bills auction this Wednesday, for some of us that lost out last week. |
Good day to all our forumites. I will be very grateful if the legal gurus in the house can share their thoughts. Is it appropriate to agree to pay into a limited company (supposedly owned by the seller), when someone is about to make payment for a property, and the property is in the seller's personal name and not in the company's name? Many thanks in advance to our contributors. |
Dear lawyer and other legal gurus in the house. I will be very grateful if someone can advise regarding the following. Is it legally acceptable for a seller to sell a property with 2 wings ( semi detached duplexes) to two different buyers without first doing the deed of subdivision/ partition? And if so, should the seller or buyer be responsible for cost? Although the whole property in magodo shangisha has a c of o from the original owner of the land, and the current owner/seller has a registered deed of assignment in his name, all the available documents are all for the whole property as opposed to individual titles for each wing of the two semi detached duplexes' As a novice, I do not think the seller has a "fully" perfected title to sell the two wings separately. I think the law only sees the whole property as one, as opposed to two separate wings (although attached by a common wall- semi detached). I may be wrong though |
It is always smart to have some information from learned forumites before someone approaches the bank for negotiations. I am sure most banks may want to make as much for their coy. |
To Ihavespoken and other gurus in the house. Kindly advise on how much to expect roughly, if I decide to liquidate my TB investment. The amount is 10M; the interest was at 17.48% and I have held the investment now for 2 months. The bid was via Zenith bank at the primary market and the money is with Zenith Custodian.I am aware I have to forfeit interest for 10 months, but will there be other charges? And if so, how much? Many thanks |
Wednesday 19 October 2016 and not 20 October |
Hi. Is the property still for sale? |
BoboYekini:Hi Bro. I strongly suspect that the 6.55% is not annualized. If annualized 6.55% for 182 days(6 months) will be equivalent to 13.1% per annum. GT bank seems to be less greedy than Zenith bank from my experience regarding Treasury Bills purchase from both banks. I got 12.5% annualized on my TB investment (182 days) this week with Zenith, which is equivalent to 6.25% ROI for 182 days. |
Yes I am suspecting that the rate is from the secondary market but the bank has not been able to confirm either way for now. I think Zenith has pulled a very fast one on me |
Can the Treasury Bills gurus in the house please explain why Zenith bank paid 11.5 and 10.3% respectively for 364 and 182 days tenor for the Treasury Bills application this week in constrast to the CBN marginal rate above. |
