So called caliphate, renaming of towns, refugee crises- is this the end of Nigeria as we know it? The US insisted that Nigeria will be split by 2015. Now a small group of untrained almajiris is making a section of the country "ungovernable". Most of weapons they use are US manufactured-through Libya. Is this the end?

The guy is a real clown, in one of his past videos he boasted he has 100 jeeps.
Quote:

..."These cars over there(pointing to a highlander jeep) I have more than a hundred in my possession. I don't take them as if they are anything. I look at them the way I look at feaces. Because anyone whole loves the things of this world no matter how little will go to hell fire"...

I'm not an expert in constitutional matters but I want to believe the role of the Senate and the House of Representatives is to guide and direct the executive in times of need.
With the current insecurity bedevilling our dear nation, why is the NASS not having a joint session to delibrate and propel the Executive to declare full scale war and put all necessary steps to checkmate the issue. If someone comes and carves out a part of Nigeria and declares it a part of a so-called "caliphate, what does that mean? Is this not an act of aggression on the FG. Towns are sacked daily by terrorists and innocent lives are lost. Instead of the Legistlature to wake up to its contitutional mandate, they are wastin time on frivilous issues like decamping of the Speaker of the HOR. Irrespective of party affiliations I believe the NASS has a mandate to protect the integrity of this country. As it is some senators and HOR members cannot set foot in their constituencies because some mad men have declared it as no longer part of Nigeria. This is the time for the NASS to do the needfull, before the Army take a leaf from Burkina Faso.

Twenty-eight killed in 44 US school shootings since Newtown, study finds

Gun violence is erupting in America’s schools and colleges at a rate of more than three incidents a month, with 13 school shootings recorded in the first six weeks of 2014 alone, a new study on the impact of gun violence since the Newtown tragedy shows.

The analysisby groups campaigning for tighter gun controls in the US identifies at least 44 school and college shootings since Newtown in December 2012, when 20 children and six of their carers were killed in a Connecticut elementary school. The total death toll from the events over the 14 months since then is 28, surpassing that of Newtown itself.

The joint analysis by Moms Demand Action, a group of concerned citizens formed in the wake of Newtown, and Mayors Against Illegal Guns, was released in Washington on Wednesday in an attempt to kickstart the debate on gun control. The issue has slumped in the political agenda in recent months following congressional opposition spearheaded by the Republican leadership to reforms such as universal federal background checks on all gun purchases.

“We are a developed country, and we have to ask ourselves what is wrong with our culture and laws that’s creating an environment where not only do we have 44 school shootings in the past 14 months – but we are doing nothing about it,” said Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action.

Chris Murphy, Democratic senator for Connecticut, where Newtown happened, said in a statement: “We’re only six weeks into 2014, but already 13 schools have been forced to lock down under the threat of gun violence. No parent should have to fear for the life of their child when they drop them off at school.”

The new study, based on a trawl of newspaper and other public accounts, underlines the chronic nature of the gun problem in US schools and college campuses. The incidents occurred in 24 states across the country, with 28 shootings in elementary, middle and high schools and a further 16 in college or university campuses.

Almost half of the 44 shootings culminated in at least one death – including seven suicides, and 33 assaults or homicides. The nature of the shooters varied widely, with their ages ranging from five to 53.

In the case of the five-year-old, last August the boy brought a loaded gun in his backpack into kindergarten in Memphis Tennessee; it discharged without causing injury. The 53-year-old, Javier Burgos, is wanted in connection with the shooting deaths of two fellow custodians at Alexander W Drefoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, last June.

NB. The ‘age’ data field lists the shooter’s age.
One of the most alarming statistics revealed by the study is that of the 28 shootings that happened in elementary, middle or high schools, 20 of them involved shooters under 18. In addition to the five-year-old, two shooters were aged 12, one 13, one 15 and three 16.

Twelve-year-old Jose Reyes fatally shot his teacher and wounded two other students at his middle school in Sparks, Nevada last October before killing himself. He used a 9mm semi-automatic Ruger handgun he had found unlocked in a case above the refrigerator at home.

Though the shooters are disparate in age, one common factor that many shared was that, like Reyes, they obtained their weapons at home. Three-quarters of the incidents in which it was possible to determine the source of the firearm involved guns brought from the shooter’s home.

That tallies with Newtown itself, in which the shooter at Sandy Hook elementary school, Adam Lanza, wielded guns from his home that were owned by his mother.

Watts said the issue of gun safety in the home was clearly a big issue. “We have to insist on parents being held liable when their child gains access to a gun. That is not an ‘accident’; it is criminal negligence, and families must be held accountable.”

In the 14 months since Newtown many schools and colleges across the US have tightened their security drills. Some have heeded the advice of the National Rifle Association which notoriously called just days after the Newtown massacre for armed guards to be placed in every school.

Others have gone further and debated allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons in the classroom.

As usual, shallow minds will just insult me and go. But those with matured and objective minds will definately have an idea of where I'm heading. Remember I NEVER mentioned "Shekau" or his Jamatul ahli Sunna wa lidawatul jihad.
I said "boko haram",which means Western education is forbidden.

Anyone who follows the link I shared will be alarmed at the rate by which students are killed by unknown gunmen in American schools. Ask yourself is this the first time you are hearing of gunmen opening fire at students in American schools? Or do you think there are no hardline extremist in the western world? Those who just prefer to insult are free to insult me. Have a lovely weekend fellows.

Boko Haram: Wesstern education is forbidden.
For long there has been attacks by unknown gunmen in American schools with an untold number of casualties that the mainstream media usually downplays. An attack on a school in Buni Yadi is as condemnable as an attack on a school in Washington. Plain and simple this refers to the concept of "boko haram". A new study shows that at least three (3) US schools are attacked monthly by gunmen, killing unspecified number of students.

Looking at it, America really has nothing to gain from creating deadly terrorist groups in the Middle East because these guys pose more danger to US citizens in the long run. US doesn't rely so much on their oil anymore. They only want to maintain their ME presence in order to maintain the East/West rivalry between them and Russia/China.

If you followed the news closely over the past 2-3 years, you'd remember that the US was reluctant to arm the so-called "moderate" Syrian rebels. They mostly gave them non-lethal equipment such as binoculars, radios, body armor etc while Qatar & Saudi armed the Sunni rebels. It wasn't until the past few months that the US openely started arming them.

And yes, it's plausible that the weapons meant for the Kurds ended up with ISIL because the Kobane warfront is not clearly defined. Kobane isn't a big city anyway. And remember that the transport planes are dropping these things from 000s of feet above. According to the Dept of Defense, 2 packs were actually lost but they were able to destroy only 1 thereafter.
Noted.

News has it that it was one of the weapons drops parachuted to the Kurds that missed and found its way through to the ISIL side. Mistakes do happen in these kinds of circumstances.
But this weapon cache would not give ISIL a victory if you look at the big picture.

Some people even think that they are bugged with GPS transmitters so as to track ISIL fighters.

To the people saying that America started ISIL, it doesn't make you sound smart at all. ISIL/ISIS/IS started from Al Qaeda in Iraq who went to fight in Syria and basically took advantage of the Syrian war and the weak Iraqi military.

Yes, the US (republican) govt messed up by invading Iraq but saying that they started ISIL is unsubstantiated and just sounds dumb.

You don't have to rehash every conspiracy theory you find on the internet.
You are making sense, but to every conspiracy theory there is an element of truth in it. For one, the US did arm fighters in Afghanistan in the 80's to rebel against soviet rule. These same fighters turned out to be the Taliban who fought against US. So if people say US armed ISIS, it may be true. I don't have the full details so I can't make any comment. But how can weapons be "accidentally" dropped to ISIS zones?

Fellow Nigerians, what the west is doing now is exactly what they have been planning all along, to divide Africa and Africans by reporting bogus news and giving them to African news papers to publish them. Where did they get the information from that money was paid or arms was given in exchange for hostage release? they are writing all these garbage now to destroy relations with Nigeria and Cameroon and create another war so that they will come in and benefit again. Do you think that Cameroonian authorities will be silly enough to give boko haram weapons when they clearly know these same weapons will be used against their own people in far north? The western newspapers are the first to always report evil in Afirca and will take days or weeks to report good things. For instance, how long did it take bbc, cnn and other news editors to report that Nigeria has been cleared and contained their ebola threat? When was the last time any of you visited the bbc and saw something positive about Africa? But everyday one will read about poverty, disease, war, farming, etc all happening in Africa. Of all the progress Nigerian army has been making in this war, they won't report it but will turn around and report lies of how boko haram is holding territories and is preparing to attack Maiduguri. If you don't know boko haram so well, then how come you know they are preparing to attack Maiduguri? Who is fooling who here. The west has all along been wanting to destroy Africa and if we fall for this trick, then our beautiful continent will be wiped off infront of all of us.
In as much as I agree with you on the issue of western media, I can't help but disagree with you on the much talked about BH attack on Maiduguri. Even captured fighters have confessed that their leaders are planning a major assault on th city. So that's not a western media propaganda.

The Kanuris are known to very fierce warriors who don't shy away from conflicts, the Fulani won't be able to survive any conflicts deep in the strongholds of the Kanuris.

If BH senses that the Fulbe are a major threat, they won't hesitate to deal ruthlessly with them. I don't see how this solution will work in the long term afterall, BH have been rustling Fulani cattle's with reckless abandon without blinking . . . .
Kanuri people are found in the old Kanem-Bornu empire which comprises NE Nigeria,SE Niger and NW Cameroun. How can you compare them to the Fulbe cattle rearers who are found in Sudan, Niger, Southern Algeria, Mali, Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Cameroun, CAR, Kenya, Tanzania etc. The fulani herdsmen will simple overrun and overpower the Kanuri. BH CANNOT sustain the tempo against them.
