One of the critical challenges facing Nigeria’s economic development at the moment is the rising unemployment. Available reports from a variety of sources and the glaring evidence of joblessness in all the states of the federation indicate that there is no time in Nigeria’s tartan history that unemployment has been as serious as it is now.

Unemployment according to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) is among the biggest threats to social stability in many countries including Nigeria, putting the global rate at 12.6% (ILO, 2012). When compared with her counterparts in the continent, Nigeria’s unemployment crisis is more serious. For instance, South Africa’s unemployment rate is currently standing at about 22%, and in Ghana is about 14% in 2010,

Several reports put Nigeria’s unemployment rate at about 24 percent; and 60 per cent of the country’s population are youths, translating to about 80 million Nigeria youths. Youth unemployment rate is over 50 percent; about 64 million Nigeria youths are unemployed. To think that there are 64 million able body human beings without means of any livelihood is mind boggling. For a nation without any social programs – welfare or unemployment stipend, these 64 million Nigerians live each day looking to survive by all means necessary including involvements in violent criminal acts that constantly threaten the security of the populace.

This situation is pathetic considering the fact that the country is blessed with a lot of human and natural resources capable of providing employment for the teeming youths in Nigeria. As noted by the World Bank report, that the youth holds the key to achieving the Vision 20: 2020.

It is in this regard that the latest job creation figure released by the National Bureau of Statistics, (NBS), yesterday which showed that the economy created 500,224 jobs across the country in the first six months of 2014 was accepted with mixed feelings.

According to the Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr. Yemi Kale, at a workshop organised by the NBS for the review of definition and methodology for computing unemployment statistics in Nigeria; the new figure was arrived at through a recent job creation survey carried out by the NBS for the first and second quarters of 2014. The scope of the survey covered formal and informal establishments and public institutions in the country.

The report showed that in the Q1 of 2014, the formal sector recorded 76.018 new jobs; informal recorded 158,894 new jobs, while the public sector recorded 5,959 new jobs. The total new jobs for Q1 of 2014 was 240,871, representing a decrease by 10.3 per cent from the previous Q, which recorded 265,702 jobs and lower than the 431,021 jobs created in the corresponding Q in 2013.

We acknowledge that the President Goodluck Jonathan led government recognizes the enormous unemployment problem and has called on economic experts in Nigeria to develop approaches that will fast-track Nigeria towards overcoming unemployment.

But, one cannot really conclude that the government at one level or the other have done anything significant to reduce unemployment in Nigeria. The creation of National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and its skills acquisition programmes, NAPEP, PAP, the SURE-P,YOUWIN, just to mention a few, are some of the various intervention mechanisms aimed at ensuring economic growth that is rich with job creation opportunities which have performed below expectation.

The number of jobs created within the first half of the year is encouraging and gives hope to the unemployed, however, efforts will need to be multiplied if unemployment is to be drastically reduced. Hence, conscious effort must be directed at creating an environment that will encourage and sustain private sector manufacturing and entrepreneurship, while investing heavily on infrastructural projects such as power, roads, airports and seaports. SAME OLD LIE JUST LIKE SURE -P PAPER ECONOMY

Christianity Etc › Re: How Can One Identify A True Born Again Christian? by deleo16(m): 11:56pm On Oct 12, 2014
BAYKEM:
Having glanced through all the comments, I feel indebted to add my view.
To start with, the term born again has its origin in the book of John 3vs1-5. It signifies a new birth; one which is totally different, greater and life-giving than the initial birth. It is the very basis and foundation of Christianity. It gives a man membership to God's vineyard and kingdom. A born again Christian is one who has confessed Jesus as His/Her Lord and savior (Romans 10 vs 9-11). One who has totally surrendered to the will of his saviour and new master; Jesus Christ. One who no longer fulfils the desires of the flesh (Romans 8 vs cool.
NOTE
1. A person may have being born again and yet struggle with sin if he/she lacks proper nourishment, knowledge and the grace to carry on. And as a result, backslide amd return to his/her vomit.
2. Many are so vibrant, religious and hard working today but are yet to be born again.
3. There is difference between a born again christian, a growing christian (after being born) and a matured christian. A Christian may be born again and not grow and as a result, he/she may die. A christian may be born again and be growing but not yet matured. And lastly a Christian may have undergone the three steps.
4. A person must always remember that after birth, he or she is a new creature which must grow each day to avoid stagnancy and extinct. Let me ask you my reader, if u are truly born again, are you growing, stagnant or dead?

NOW TO THEIR IDENTIFICATION
1. Be not deceived, their outer appearance, willingness, zealousness and eagerness to do God's work and position in the church has nothing to do with being born again. It is very difficult to discern them. First and foremost, you will need a spirit of discernment in order to discern the actual spirit that operates through them. Peter used that in Acts 5. A person who lacks the spirit of discernment would be easily deceived by the amount Anania and Saffira brought to the house of God. They will think they have great passion to serve God and therefore they are truly born again. But alas they are not. Your close observation may not work here, but spirit of discernment would work. Paul also used the spirit of discernment in Act 16vs16-18

2. They will focus on heavenly things and not wordly things. They will always want to be fruitful in order to expand God's kingdom and hence a great reward in heaven. They will no longer live the formal life of their old self. They will become new in their actions, speeches, behaviour, relationship, and so on.

3. They will portray Christ-like characters. The things you would see in them would reveal Christ. They will be small-Christs.

Lastly, judge not anyone. Underrate no one. And do not pit ur trust in any man. Man may fail you (even the true born agains), that doesn't mean they are not born again. Men fail only God do not. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you and u will be able to discern who the true Christians are. The Mr and Miss "Small Christ" to you may be the Mr and Miss "Ahab and Jezebel" to others who knows them better and closer than u do.

Love your neighbour, Keep up your faith in Christ, be mot weary by the situations of things in christiandom nowadays. And always remember there still exist true born again christians (Romans 11 vs 4).

Remain blessed.

The question are you a true born again Christian cannot be answered by yourself. For the truth to be spoken, others have to Identify your Character with Christ. The apostles were first called Christians in Antioch, not that they called themselves Christians but people identified a Christ like behaviour/character in them that made them conclude they were Christians. Anybody you can't identify Christ like attitude in Him/her is not born again. God bless you! Have a glorious week ahead!

How much have our leaders stolen without people noticing? Is it 9.3 mil dollars they will fly to SA to loot or what...the truth is dat i am really dissapionted with Nigerian, how can a country be blinded with so much hate that you don't even knw you are been insulted. The other day wen ghana said they wanted to export electricity to Nigeria, you should have seen negative comments made by Nigerian against Nigeria, is it not the same ghana that is begging for Nigeria to supply gas. Even if Jesus christ constest and win the next election, there will still be no change, why? Because we are our own worst enemy..it's funny atimes how a 37yrs old man will say GEJ till 2055 and another 45yrs old man will say No buhari No Nigeria, jst see wat u've turned urslef into.
We are all bad jst as our leaders, there's nothing worst than a man who doesn't knw his enemy, we are our own worst enemy.

lirusehn: [b] here come Nigerians again.

if i choose to write my own view of this, Some fools gonna cry me a hell.

For heaven's sake why ar most of these Nigerians so foolish?

For a minute i felt their pains but now they've shown us to be as foolish as their fore-fathers.

Southafricans wanna sue who? TB Joshua or the Engineers in charge oF the building
Or prolly the Officers that ar bin paid to get things straight but neva did(sinz the only thing they ar good at is to walk around on a wet-day with their 'REd-paint' while they keep showing us they knw how to rightly write 'Stop Work Notice' only on buildings they feel 'the owners know less about 'LaW or Our Constitutions')

Plz someone shud tell me whom they gonna sue?
I did bliv Southafricans were sensible they just clearEd my doubts.

it's seriously a privilege for them to Ave bin in the ist place allowed into Our dear country here.

I can still remember how

*1) Five South Africans police beat Nigerian man to death

*2) On Jan. 5, Obinna Ugboja was arrested by the police on the
allegation that he was in possession of drugs; the police
claimed he tried to swallow the drug when
arrested and he was killed in a van. What happened later in time ? I swear nothing. I Cud remb Mamabolo said Nigeria and SA shud come together to be the 'GIANTS of Africa'. There the case ended. Shame on US all

*3) Johannesburg - Four Nigerians died when a group of men
opened fire on them in Benoni, on the East Rand, The motive of the shooting is unknown till date .

*4) a Nigerian student got killed shortly after the death of 'Toba Falode' the son of 'Aisha Falode' for God knws what. They killed another Naizi Evah and twisted everything up linking the suspect to be a Zimbabwean

*5) another 2 south African cops caught on camera brutalising A Nigerian for no reason untill he was maltreated to p**.

They mobilized petition against brutality, was it not made knwn to we Nigerians to head bak to our Country if we can't cope with them. While we keep taking Southafricans here for a lil-god. What happened to the case?

*6) What happened to Uzoama Joseph's case?
Despite how glaring the injustice was. Smh.

The only thing we heard was 'Reps warned u guyz to stop killing us'. Period 'nothing else was done all in the name of our 'slavery-mentality'

These are just the few of my many

*8 ) what of our 9.3 million US dollars?

*9) what of those Nigerians brutally treated over-there all in the name of this same building that collapsed and yet they still wanna sue 'River-Niger'.

What will you guyz now say ? I won't let bygone be bygone? How wud i let the bygone be? When inferiority complex is eating us up. We prefa some goddamn foreigners to our main man. The man These same foreigners pay millions to see we are here crying to prosecute him. I wish we could just for once appreciate what we've got.

The truth is like you said Nigerian Journalist force people to pay all the time, if they go for an event, they will not broadcast or write about it until the brown envelope thing is properly sorted out. I have witnessed A list organization pay journalist who came to cover events. So why are you calling this particular one a bribe, i think you are just an opportunist.

Most of them still keep stressing on skills acquisition and agriculture without asking themselves why these two paths chosen have not curtail rising unemployment.

The truth is that these economists have made GEJ, Fashola, Akpabio and other outstanding leaders look clueless and dumb in the face of unemployment.

It is time our economists
keep away their books and study our economy to see how best it can be developed. Text book knowledge has failed us the way it has failed us in our struggle against BH.

onyenro: Popular Nigerian pastor, TB Joshua, has said there is a plan by
international terrorist organisations to kidnap the pope.
According to him, the terrorists will first attempt to hijack a plane on
which the pope will be traveling and then re-route it.
He says the move will be widely publicised on international media
platforms including CNN.
“First they will take the plane and it will be like they cannot locate it
and then it will be like that. So we should pray so that it will just not
end like that.
“This is another big attempt they want to pick. It’s an attempt they
want to do now, so they have to tactically plan at every airport so
that this thing does not happen,” Joshua announced in his Synagogue
Church of All Nations (SCOAN) in Nigeria.
“I as a man of God, am praying about it but all Christians must pray
too. The popular cleric am talking about is the pope. We must pray
for him,” he told his congregation in a live service broadcast
monitored by StarrFMonline.com Sunday September 7.
The “Man of God,” as Joshua is popularly called, is believed to have
predicted many world events including the death of famous pop star
Michael Jackson and the missing of Malaysian flight MH370.
