PoliticsInec Holds Second Quarterly Consultative Meeting With All Political Parties. by Delightnews(op): 1:01pm On Jun 09
ABUJA

TUESDAY JUNE 9 2026.

INEC HOLDS SECOND QUARTERLY CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH ALL POLITICAL PARTIES.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ia currently in an important Consultative meeting with all registered political parties and their recognized National Chairmen and National Secretaries.

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Abdulrahman Muhammed Takushara alongside the National. Secretary of the party Sen. Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu are visible actively present.

Recognised Men and Women of the fourth realm of Estate are also present at this important meeting.

The Honorable Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN) in his opening remarks welcomed all leaders of political parties emphasizing that the regular engagements remain an important pillar of our democratic process. "Political Parties are not merely contestants in elections; they are critical stakeholders and indispensable partners in the consolidation of constitutional democracy in Nigeria", he said.

He addressed some judicial pronouncements and updated on actions and steps taken so far to tackle any challenge in a timely and transparent manner. He also made reference to accountability mechanism to make the system robust while also highlighting on the submission and recognition of names of persons and candidates in parties as preparation for 2027 General Election gets into top gear. He emphasised that the primary elections remain gateway to successful elections and hitch free elections and the need to reflect on lessons learned from previous electoral cycles.

He further urged political parties to complete submissions before the deadline, while calling for intensified voters education and need for collection of PVCs and urged leaders of political parties to ensure strict adherence to the constitution, electoral act and party guidelines. He called for discouragement of vote buying and other acts that jeopardise effort and credibility.

With 220 days to the general election, the INEC consultative meeting with all political parties is critical for credible, peaceful, and orderly polls.
This move Aligns Expectations Early as
220 days out is when timelines, guidelines, and procedures get finalized. The meeting ensures all parties understand INEC’s rules on primaries, candidate nomination, campaign finance, polling unit processes, and results transmission. No surprises, no excuses on election day.
It is also expected that this meeting builds trust and reduces tension knowing that Elections are won or lost on perception. Therefore INEC's meeting with parties openly to share updates on voter register, PVC distribution, technology like BVAS/IReV, and security plans, is critical.

Above all, it is expected to strengthen Code of Conduct & Peace as INEC and political parties are expected to reaffirm commitment to non-violence, issue-based campaigns, and compliance with the Electoral Act. 220 days gives time for party leadership to cascade the message to candidates and supporters at state/LGA level and improve election credibility especially as the Governorship elections in Ekiti is just 11 days away and Osun Governorship Election which is scheduled to hold on 20th June 2026 with special reference to the signing of "Peace Accord" by political parties in Ekiti state.

PoliticsThe Train Has Already Left The Station, PDP Has Moved On. by Delightnews(op): 8:35am On Jun 08
The train has already left the station.

Was INEC not a party to all the legal processes the Party went through? Their lawyers were present throughout the proceedings at the various courts, and they equally have Certified True Copies (CTCs) of all the judgments delivered.

It is therefore surprising that some people still believe they can twist or misrepresent clear court judgments through propaganda.

Facts remain facts, and judgments speak for themselves.

Those attempting to deceive the public will eventually learn the hard way that the rule of law cannot be overridden by misinformation.

PoliticsPdp Demands Sanctions Against Deliberate Misrepresentation Of Court Judgments. by Delightnews(op): 9:00am On Jun 06
PRESS RELEASE
JUNE 6, 2026

PDP DEMANDS SANCTIONS AGAINST DELIBERATE MISREPRESENTATION OF COURT JUDGMENTS.
TIME TO WIELD THE BIG STICK

1. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is deeply disturbed by the persistent and deliberate distortion of judicial pronouncements by a group of individuals falsely parading themselves as the Interim National Working Committee of the Party. The latest instance is contained in a press statement issued by one Comrade Ini Ememobong, a legal practitioner, on June 3, 2026, on behalf of the said group. Of particular concern are paragraphs three and four of the statement, which contain claims, conclusions, and interpretations that are not only misleading but are entirely inconsistent with the clear, unambiguous, and unequivocal contents of the judgment of the Court of Appeal.

2. The Party considers this development a dangerous assault on the integrity of the judiciary and the administration of justice. It is particularly disturbing that individuals who are members of the legal profession, including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, would engage in the distortion and misrepresentation of a clear judicial pronouncement for partisan political purposes.

3. The PDP states unequivocally that the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the ruling of the Court of Appeal delivered by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and certified on Friday, June 5, 2026, speaks for itself and leaves no room for the false narratives currently being circulated across the media and social media platforms.

4. It is therefore shocking that legal practitioners would seek to attribute statements, conclusions, and declarations to the Court that are completely absent from the judgment itself. Such conduct amounts to an attempt to mislead the public, create confusion, and undermine confidence in the judicial process. This constitutes contempt of court and must be treated as such.

5. For the avoidance of doubt, the Court of Appeal did not nullify the constitutionality or legality of the Caretaker Committee of the Party from which the present National Working Committee emerged. Rather, the Court dismissed the appeal on the grounds that it constituted an academic exercise and an attempt to relitigate issues that had already been conclusively determined by both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Consequently, the judgment of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, delivered on January 30, 2026, remains valid, subsisting, binding, and fully enforceable.

6. The Party wishes to place on record that at no point from the first page to the last page of the ruling did the Court of Appeal make any pronouncement concerning Mr. A. K. Ajibade, SAN, or Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu, as falsely claimed by those promoting misleading interpretations of the judgment.

7. Any attempt to suggest otherwise amounts to a deliberate distortion of the clear and unambiguous decision of the Court. Such conduct is considered misleading, irresponsible, and calculated to deceive the public, undermine confidence in the judiciary, create confusion, and heighten political tension.

8. Even more disturbing is the circulation on social media of purported excerpts of the Court of Appeal ruling, with portions highlighted in green ink and presented as part of the Court’s decision. A careful examination of the authentic Certified True Copy of the ruling reveals that several of the highlighted portions being circulated neither emanated from nor formed part of the judgment delivered by the Court.

9. The Party considers this development extremely serious and calls on the relevant security and regulatory authorities to immediately investigate the source and purpose of such materials and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.

10. The Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) are urged to rise to the occasion by investigating the conduct of legal practitioners who deliberately misrepresent court judgments and use their professional standing to promote falsehoods capable of bringing the legal profession into disrepute.

11. The Party further reminds all media organizations of their responsibility to uphold the highest standards of professionalism. Media houses are urged to seek proper legal guidance and verify the contents of court judgments before disseminating interpretations that may mislead the public or inflame political tensions.

12. The judiciary remains the last hope of the common man. Its decisions must be respected, faithfully represented, and protected from manipulation by individuals seeking political advantage. The deliberate misrepresentation of court judgments constitutes a grave threat to the rule of law and the credibility of democratic institutions.

13. The PDP therefore calls for immediate action against all persons found to have knowingly distorted the judgment of the Court. Failure to act decisively will only embolden those who seek to weaponize misinformation against the judiciary and weaken public confidence in the administration of justice.

14. Politics should never descend to the level where judicial pronouncements are fraudulently twisted, manipulated, and misrepresented to serve narrow partisan interests. This is politics taken too far.

15. The sanctity of the judiciary must be protected. The truth must prevail, and those who seek to undermine the authority of the courts through deliberate misrepresentation must be held accountable in accordance with the law.

16. The relevant security and regulatory agencies are further urged to urgently investigate these developments and take all necessary actions within the ambit of the law. No individual, regardless of status or professional standing, should be permitted to misrepresent the decisions of a court of competent jurisdiction without consequence.

17. Finally, the PDP urges members of the public, media organizations, party members, and stakeholders to disregard in its entirety the false and misleading narratives suggesting that the Court of Appeal has invalidated the present National Working Committee of the Party. The Party further appeals for continued support for the leadership of Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed and Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu in their commitment to providing a viable and credible alternative political direction for Nigeria.

Long live the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

FROM THE DESK OF THE PDP NATIONAL WOMAN LEADER

The Pains! The Tears!! The Extreme Fear to Queue on the Nigerian Lanes!!!

How we GOT HERE in Nigeria, has been an extremely long, tragic sojourning, and there need to be factual that we have a Country that is Bleeding intensely; meanwhile, the bloc group that could be transfused into it, is marked with more than one identity!

We have Our very troubled President; but, who we just must still run to, again, and again; particularly, when none of the huge State Security Votes had been able to prevent Us and All Ours, from the daily terrors we enduringly experience, as the massive monthly allocations from the Federal Purse to States, are mostly not accounted for as expected in stewardships; which though, the Accuser of the Brethren, has been keeping on records, until the books shall be opened…!!!

Oyo State, which not too long ago mourned the loss of the deadly-attacked five Forest Guards of the Old Oyo National Park at Oloka Village, in Oriire Local Government Area (LGA), on January 06, 2026; has again become a focal point of national concern, due to the mass abduction by gunmen, of about 46 Babies, Students, and Teachers, from three attacked Schools in Esiele/Ahoro-Esinele Community of Orire LGA, near the Old Oyo National Park, on Friday May 15, 2026.

Among the reported Victims of the most recent, deadly attack in the State were: Mr. Michael Oyedokun, a Mathematics Teacher, horrifically murdered by the abductors; Mr. Joel Adesiyan, an Assistant Headmaster, and a Motorcyclist, both killed during the attack, and a Security Personnel who died, due to the IEDs planted by the abductors, during a rescue operation.

The Amotekun Corps have reportedly launched Forest/Community Operations, with the Local Hunters and Vigilantes, while the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, also informed on an arranged, leading tech-driven operation, in addition to deployment of Detectives from the Force Headquarters, to collaborate with the Joint Security Operatives, on the tragic issue.

It was also informed that, Gov. Seyi Makinde inaugurated a Violent Crime Response Unit. A high-level Federal Government Delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and consisting of National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, IGP Olatunji Disu; Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd.), and Youths & Sports Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare, among others, also visited the Communities affected.

All the efforts taken so far were aimed at securing the release of the abducted Oyo School Kidnap Victims. But, They Are Yet To Be Freed!!!

On January 07, 2026, during an on-the-spot assessment visit by the out-going Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, he announced that, the Oyo State Government would pay a compensation of ₦5 million to each of the families of the murdered Forest Guards, and the children of the deceased will be supported with scholarships up to the university level.

And, that is the end of the story of another Statistics in the country! There were the Chibok (2016) and Dapchi (2018) school abductions; and others. Now it is Orire (2026) school abduction!

Gov. Seyi Makinde, while reacting to the incident, stated that, they won’t surrender to terror but are prepared to listen to abductors’ demands to secure release.

Very sadly, babies of two to four years, and other children abducted in almost two weeks, almost 336 hours of excruciating pains, are still in the forest! Their Teachers are there watching them helplessly daily, in the chilling rains, and burning sun. No roofs above their heads. No diapers, no medications, no good food and water. No safety from physical and sexual assaults, in addition to the emotional and mental assaults of about two weeks!

No opportunity to bury the killed. The Parents, Families, and all of Us, once again have been through the emotionally and mentally traumatised imagining onslaughts of all the ever-existing, What ifs!

Over 20 billion Naira were allegedly spent by Gov. Seyi Makinde on building four motor parks in Ibadan. If same amount had been spent on the internal security of Oyo State, in particular, the Amotekun Outfit, there would have been better logistics for the state security. But, that is matters-arising.

Mr. President Sir, Thanks so much for ALL YOUR EFFORTS so far. May God aid you to do much more for the country. If left alone at a time like this, the abducted Victims may become another Statistics.

According to Dave Pelzer, “Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun; not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul,” and we have a great potential to do more than just survive in Nigeria.

This is a deep-hearted call for your Special Intervention, to ensure the most urgent rescue of the remaining abductees, unhurt any further.

The Wombs are Bleeding Again!!

MAY GOD HEAL OUR NATION!!!

PoliticsA Response To The Latest Attempt At Legal Misdirection By Turaki Support Group by Delightnews(op): 8:35am On Jun 05
*FACTS OVER FICTION: A RESPONSE TO THE LATEST ATTEMPT AT LEGAL MISDIRECTION BY TURAKI SUPPORT GROUP

By James Obute

The latest essay disguised as legal analysis is long on rhetoric but remarkably short on facts.

The writer asks Nigerians to ignore the only institution constitutionally empowered to regulate political parties and elections (INEC) and instead embrace a self-serving interpretation of the PDP Constitution crafted by orphans whose legitimacy remains highly disputed.

The claim that INEC recognition is meaningless is both misleading and intellectually dishonest. Political parties do not participate in elections through press statements or self-appointed committees; they do so through structures and officials recognized by law. That recognition is not accidental, it is the practical consequence of compliance with established legal and administrative processes.

Even more curious is the attempt to celebrate an “Orphans Working Committee” whose existence remains a subject of controversy while dismissing the recognized party structure. Constitutional legitimacy cannot be proclaimed by press releases; it must be demonstrated through lawful processes and accepted institutional procedures.

The writer repeatedly invokes the PDP Constitution but conveniently avoids the reality that constitutional interpretation is not determined by partisan commentators. It is determined by competent authorities and the practical operation of the law. No amount of legal gymnastics can transform a disputed faction into the undisputed leadership of a national political party.

The truth remains simple: legitimacy is not established through propaganda, selective quotations, or wishful thinking. It is earned through lawful recognition, institutional acceptance, and adherence to due process.

Nigerians deserve facts, not legal fiction dressed up as constitutional scholarship.

PoliticsWhy The Pdp Leadership Recognized By Inec Remains The Authentic Structure by Delightnews(op): 9:09pm On May 31
FACTS OVER PROPAGANDA: WHY THE PDP LEADERSHIP RECOGNIZED BY INEC REMAINS THE AUTHENTIC STRUCTURE

Let me take my time to properly educate some people on this street who keep claiming that the PDP is divided by factions without understanding the legal and constitutional realities surrounding the party leadership.

Yes, it is true that there have been disagreements between the Abdurahman-led leadership and the Tanimu Turaki group. However, in politics and electoral matters, emotions, sentiments, and social media propaganda do not determine legitimacy.

The only institution constitutionally empowered to regulate political parties and elections in Nigeria is the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC has already made its position clear through its official portal and records by recognizing the authentic PDP leadership.

The genuine leadership structure of the party, including the National Headquarters at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, as well as the structures across the 36 states, remains under the control of the recognized PDP leadership.

Some people also keep quoting the suspension upheld by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court without understanding the details.

That suspension was granted in November last year for only one month. Legally, once the duration elapsed in December and no meeting or legal process was conducted to extend it, the suspension automatically expired.

Out of political wisdom and in order to avoid legal complications surrounding the Ibadan convention which had a court order restraining it, the Wike-aligned camp moved to organize another convention in Abuja on the 29th of March.

That convention was openly monitored and supervised by INEC, and it produced Abdurahman as Chairman and Anyanwu as Secretary.

It is important to understand that courts do not operate like Father Christmas. A court only rules on matters properly brought before it.

The major issue before the Supreme Court at that time concerned the Ibadan convention, which was eventually declared illegal and nullified. However, because the Abuja convention had already been monitored by INEC lately and there was no valid court order stopping it before it held, its outcomes took practical prominence in the political process.

Meanwhile, the officials who were previously suspended have already exhausted the period of their suspension. Therefore, portraying them as permanently removed from office is legally misleading.

Another simple question people should ask themselves is this: how can a group that has no officially recognized office, no verified account details, and no recognition from INEC claim to be the authentic leadership of a political party?

Some of these factions even issue nomination forms for free without any institutional structure or constitutional backing.

At the end of the day, the final authority in electoral matters remains INEC.

After all the primaries are concluded, INEC will officially upload the names of recognized candidates on its portal, and that alone will silence those still making noise about so-called “unrecognized factions.”

Politics should be guided by facts, legality, and constitutional procedures not sentiments, assumptions, or street arguments.

PoliticsTuraki’s Political Orphans: Abandoned By Jonathan, Deserted By Makinde by Delightnews(op): 6:03pm On May 30
Turaki’s Political Orphans: Abandoned by Jonathan, Deserted by Makinde

By James Obute

Politics often rewards consistency, loyalty, and strategic patience. Unfortunately, Governor Seyi Makinde’s decision to abandon the Turaki-led presidential process and emerge as the presidential candidate of the APM raises serious questions about commitment, credibility, and political sincerity.

For months, Nigerians watched as the Turaki-led orphans built their presidential project around former President Goodluck Jonathan. Meetings were held, consultations were conducted, screening arrangements were announced, and waivers were granted in anticipation of Jonathan’s participation.

Yet throughout this process, Jonathan remained largely absent. He did not personally drive the campaign. He reportedly failed to appear for the submission of his nomination form when expected, leaving the orphans and Turaki officials waiting for a signal that never came.

The result was a presidential project that increasingly appeared to be running ahead of its supposed beneficiary. While party orphans were speaking, organizing screenings, and securing waivers, the principal figure remained silent and distant from the process.

Then came the ultimate irony.

Just as the Turaki orphans moved toward ratifying Jonathan’s nomination, the very political force widely associated with promoting that project suddenly shifted direction. Governor Makinde accepted the presidential ticket of the APM, effectively walking away from the political structure that had invested considerable energy in the Jonathan project.

The obvious question is simple: If the Turaki process was worth building, why abandon it? And if it was not worth believing in, why ask others to believe in it?

To the orphans, Makinde’s move looks less like strategy and more like political convenience. It creates the impression that the Turaki platform was merely a temporary vehicle, useful only until another opportunity appeared.

Equally troubling is the role of Jonathan in the entire saga. A presidential aspiration cannot survive indefinitely on speculation, waivers, endorsements, and assumptions. Leadership requires presence. It requires ownership. It requires showing up. Yet, at virtually every critical stage, Jonathan appeared detached from a process supposedly built around him.

In the end, Nigerians are left with a curious political spectacle: a candidate who never fully embraced the process and a political sponsor who ultimately chose a different platform altogether.

For many observers, that combination does not project confidence. It projects confusion.

The Turaki orphans, having invested their hopes, energy, and political capital in the project, now find themselves stranded between a candidate who never fully committed and a political ally who ultimately chose another path.

PoliticsDisclaimer Of Any Planned Affirmation Of Goodluck Jonathan Presidentialcandidacy by Delightnews(op): 3:20pm On May 29
PRESS RELEASE
MAY 29, 2026

DISCLAIMER OF ANY PURPORTED PLANNED AFFIRMATION OF PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDACY OF FORMER PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN

The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to misleading information and unfounded reports circulating in certain quarters regarding an alleged planned convention aimed at affirming former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, as the presidential candidate of the PDP.

The Party wishes to categorically state that no such convention, meeting, or process has been scheduled, approved, or endorsed by the leadership or any recognised organ of the Peoples Democratic Party.

We therefore urge all party faithful, supporters, stakeholders, and members of the general public to disregard such false information, as it is misleading, unauthorised, and intended to create confusion within the polity.

It is important for the avoidance of doubt to state that, The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully concluded all its primary elections, including those for Governorship, State Houses of Assembly, National Assembly, and the Presidential election primaries in accordance with INEC guidelines, the provisions of the Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Party.

All such exercises across the country were peacefully conducted and properly monitored and supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In view of this development, we respectfully call on former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to publicly dissociate himself from this charade in order to protect the integrity of the democratic process and preserve the credibility he earned while serving the nation.

We also call on relevant security agencies to swiftly investigate the source of these false reports and take appropriate action against the perpetrators whose motive is nothing but to create political tension in the country.

The PDP will henceforth not fold its arms and allow the Party to be dragged into disrepute through falsehood, misinformation, and unauthorised political activities aimed at undermining its integrity and democratic structures.

The Party remains totally committed to due process, internal democracy, and the rule of law in all its political activities and engagements, and will continue to protect the sanctity of its constitutional processes and decisions.

Members of the public are therefore advised to rely only on official communications issued by duly authorized officials of the party.

SOMETHING BIGGER THAN US ALL

SPEECH BY SENATOR DAVID MARK, GCON, CHAIRMAN OF THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC), AT THE OFFICIAL COLLATION AND DECLARATION EVENT OF THE PARTY’S PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES:

PROTOCOLS:

1.Distinguished leaders and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress, members of the National Working Committee, members of the National Executive Committee, coalition leaders, elected officials, youth groups, civil society organisations, members of the diplomatic corps, INEC officials, the media, our esteemed aspirants, party faithful gathered here at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Nigerians joining us from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, and Nigerians in diaspora—good evening, and welcome to this historic official collation and declaration event of the ADC Presidential Primaries.

2.Today is not just about announcing a presidential candidate.

3.Today is also about proving a point to Nigeria and to Nigerians.

4.It is about proving that democracy can still work. Proving that political competition does not have to become political warfare. That a party can organize itself around principles instead of personalities. And that in a season of deep national anxiety, a bright future is still possible.

5.That is why this gathering matters. And that is why history will remember what we have done here today.

6.Let me begin by thanking every member of the African Democratic Congress for your steadfastness, your patience, your sacrifices, your understanding, and your faith in this party, especially in the face of daunting challenges. Many people doubted us. Some dismissed us. Others predicted confusion, division, and even outright collapse.

7.But you stood firm. You kept faith with the ADC.

8.And today, because of your commitment, our party stands taller, stronger, and more united.

9.Let me also recognize and appreciate the members of the Presidential Screening Committee and the Presidential Primary Election Committee for their patriotism, diligence, and professionalism throughout this process. In the face of enormous pressure, logistical complexity, and intense national attention, they carried out their responsibilities with courage, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to fairness and transparency. Their work has strengthened the credibility of this exercise and reinforced the confidence of our members and the Nigerian people in the integrity of the African Democratic Congress. On behalf of the leadership and the entire membership of our party, I thank them for their sacrifice and service to our party and to democracy.

10.Now, I also want to specially commend our three distinguished aspirants: former Vice-President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, former Governor of Rivers State and immediate past Minister of Transportation, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON, and the former Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group and former Chairman of NNDC, Mr. Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, OON. It is important to mention, that we are the only political party to have 3 strong aspirants contest for the presidential ticket. This alone makes the ADC unique in its deep commitment to democracy, and democratic practices.

11.This also demonstrates the loyalty of these three gentlemen to our party, their courage to compete for the great opportunity to serve, and their abiding faith in democracy.

12.By subjecting themselves to this process, they did not merely contest an election. They strengthened democracy. And despite efforts in some quarters to create uncertainty and tension, they remained committed to this process and to the ideals of this party. And for that, the ADC owes them a debt of gratitude.

13.My brothers and sisters, a few days before these primaries began, I invited the three presidential aspirants to a private dinner. Just four Nigerians seated around a table, speaking honestly and frankly about the future of our country and the future of this party.

Secure the Future International Initiative (SFII) in Partnership with AMAC

Today is more than a campaign; it is a commitment to dignity, empowerment, and securing a brighter future for our girls. At Secure the Future International Initiative, we believe that no girl should be limited in her education, confidence, or dreams because of a lack of access to menstrual hygiene support.

Through this initiative, we are proud to support 4,000 girls across six public schools within the FCT, providing not just sanitary materials, but also hope, awareness, and the message that every girl deserves to thrive with confidence and dignity.

I would like to specially express my sincere appreciation to the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) for this valuable partnership and for his commitment to supporting initiatives that positively impact the lives of young girls and strengthen our communities. A Letter to the Good People of Aboh Mbaise and Ngor Okpala

My dear leaders, stakeholders, women, youths, and faithful members of our great party, the PDP,

Today marks an important moment in the democratic journey of our Federal Constituency. As the primary election process unfolds, my heart is filled with gratitude to God and deep appreciation to every single person who has stood with us throughout this movement of hope, inclusion, and purposeful leadership.

From the very beginning, the support, encouragement, prayers, sacrifices, and belief shown by our people have remained humbling and inspiring. I do not take any of it for granted.

As we move into this defining moment, I make a sincere appeal to all party leaders, delegates, stakeholders, women, and youths participating in today’s process: let us finish strong, united, peaceful, and focused on the greater future of Aboh Mbaise and Ngor Okpala.

This journey has never been about Arthur Ugochukwu alone. It has always been about the future of our constituency. It is about creating opportunities for our youths, empowering our women, supporting our fathers and mothers, and building a constituency where leadership truly works for the people.

Today therefore calls for wisdom, maturity, and orderly conduct from all our supporters and everyone involved in the process. I strongly believe in peaceful democratic engagement and respect for due process.

As former American President Abraham Lincoln once said, “Elections belong to the people.” That timeless statement reminds us that democracy is strongest when conducted with peace, dignity, and responsibility.

I urge all our supporters to remain calm, law abiding, respectful, and peaceful throughout the exercise. Let our conduct reflect the kind of leadership and future we seek to build together.

No matter the challenges, I remain confident that God’s will shall prevail.

Thank you once again for believing in this vision.

Thank you for believing in Olileanya Anyi.

And thank you for believing that leadership can still be redefined through service, compassion, and inclusion.

I remain committed.

I am in this for you.

Hon. Arthur Ugochukwu

PoliticsPress Briefing By The Peoples Democratic Party (pdp) At Wadata Plaza, Abuja by Delightnews(op): 1:08pm On May 14
TEXT OF PRESS BRIEFING BY THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) AT WADATA PLAZA, ABUJA ON THURSDAY, 14TH MAY, 2026 ON THE PURPORTED PDP/APM GRAND ALLIANCE GATHERING IN IBADAN, OYO STATE

Gentlemen of the Press,

1. We have called this press briefing to address the misleading narratives and deliberate falsehood being circulated concerning the social gathering scheduled to hold today in Ibadan under the guise of an alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
2. Let us state clearly and unequivocally that the PDP is not part of any alliance, coalition, agreement, or political arrangement with the Allied Peoples Movement APM or any other political party regarding this gathering or any related political activity.
3. Any person or group claiming to be acting on behalf of the PDP in connection with this event is doing so without the knowledge, approval, consent, or authority of the party.
4. What is being presented to Nigerians as a political alliance is nothing more than another desperate attempt by Governor Seyi Makinde and his associates to mislead the public and manufacture a false impression of political relevance and support.
5. Governor Makinde must stop attempting to camouflage his political intentions through false claims of alliances and consultations. It is obvious that ego and pride have made it difficult for him to accept the reality of his growing political isolation and failed calculations
6. Just like Governor Bala Mohammed who earlier moved to the APM, Nigerians can now clearly see that today’s gathering in Ibadan is simply a public celebration of Governor Makinde’s movement to the APM and nothing more. His attempts to destroy the PDP have finally been exposed and his agenda has fallen flat.
7. It is unfortunate that in recent times Governor Makinde and others have continued to sponsor media attacks and propaganda aimed at deliberately distorting and misrepresenting the Supreme Court judgment in order to create confusion within the party and among Nigerians.
8. However, it has now become obvious that party members and Nigerians generally have refused to follow him on this journey of political deception and personal ambition.
9. The evidence of this reality was clearly demonstrated by the overwhelming number of aspirants who recently trooped to Wadata Plaza, the headquarters of the PDP to obtain and submit their nomination forms, thereby reaffirming their confidence in the authentic leadership and lawful structure of the PDP under Abdulrahman Mohammad and Senator Samuel Anyawu.
10. If indeed Governor Makinde and his supporters have truly not defeated to the APM, then Nigerians deserve to ask this simple question, why did they refuse to remain within the structure they claimed to recognize by purchasing nomination forms from the so-called Kabiru Tanimu led Interim National Working Committee? Their actions have clearly exposed the contradictions between their public claims and political reality. They should therefore be allowed to manage the consequences of their political choices without dragging the PDP into their personal political decisions.
11. The truth remains that propaganda and falsehood have an expiry date. No amount of media manipulation can substitute for political legitimacy and public trust. Clearly, the reality can no longer be hidden, as recent events have completely exposed the true intentions behind these political theatrics. The chicken has finally come home to roast
12. As responsible leaders and law-abiding citizens, we have deliberately refused to descend into unnecessary media wars, childish distractions, and political theatrics. Our focus remains the stability, unity, and future of the party and the country as a whole.
13. We wish to reassure all aspirants, party faithful, stakeholders, and Nigerians that the PDP remains strong, united, and fully prepared to participate in the 2027 general elections without any legal or political impediments.
14. We therefore urge Nigerians and members of the public to disregard the propaganda, theatrics, and misleading narratives surrounding today’s event in Ibadan.
15. Again, for the avoidance of doubt,we wish to reiterate that the PDP has absolutely nothing to do with the gathering in Ibadan. On the contrary, the PDP is today conducting its screening exercise for gubernatorial and presidential aspirants at Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, the annex office of our national headquarters, this is coming after yesterday’s successful completion of the States and National Assembly Screening exercise across the country.
16. We thank you all for your attention and continued support.

Signed:

Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed National publicity Secretary
