The Delta State Government House, Permanent Seccretary/Directorate of Protocol, Sir. Edwin Eguonomu Ogidi Gbegbaje has challenged parents to take charge of their wards by ensuring good moral upbringing of children so as to minimise crime in the society.

Sir. Gbegbaje gave the counsel on friday when he hosted a team of Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) Delta State Executives, at his Office, Government House, Asaba.

The Permanent Secretary said that the lack of moral upbringing of children and the total collapse of family values was largely responsible for the social crises facing Nigeria, that as Christians, we must obey the ten commandments.these are rules we should obey if we are truely Christians, that being a Christian, it doesn’t encourage irresponsibility.

“Today, many of the nation’s woes are usually attributed to collapse of family and the churches values which are primarily in the custody of parents and Churches because they are responsible for love, care and mutual respect.” Christianity does’nt encouraged indolence, trance, corruption and dishonest , lets strive as much as possible to keep within the doctrines of Christianity,”Gbegbaje said.

“He urges heads of families to wake up to their responsibilities by providing enabling environment for our children to tackle the multitude of societal ills that are manifesting on daily basis,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary further expressed the need for Deltans to go and register for their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs. Tell Christian leaders, not to allow themselves to be unduly influence, 2023 is an opportunity for us all to make a distinct change to vote in the right persons into power,” just as he charged Christians to always seek for divine intervention in the affairs of the country.

“It is important that at regular intervals, we, as a nation, should remember our purpose in life, which is to worship our creator and open our communication with God Almighty, because this is a deciding moment for all Nigerians, “if we vote in the wrong candidates, we are all doom, it is the more reason we need to sensitized our people to elect leaders that can take us to the promise land and we must not shy away from politicking , the country has been miss lead, not only the leaders but also we as followers .

“We need to do much better in terms of the welfare of our family, especially as government is increasingly providing outlets, enabling environment and platforms that can be tapped into.

He stressed the need for Nigerians to always seek God’s intervention to address some of the socio-economic and security challenges facing the country.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Dr. Peter Adogbejire Mrakpor SAN, today picked up the Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms to contest for the 2023 governorship election.

He said that doggedness and determination were what it takes to set Delta State on the path of security and prosperity.

Mtakpor, who promised to deliver Delta State to the PDP in 2023, was accompanied to the party’s national secretariat by leaders of the party.

In his remark at a brief interview with Journalists, just after obtaining the forms, mrakpor reiterated the importance of having a new face to govern Delta come 2023.

It is such a significant day and being among first two to pick the form in Abuja speaks volume of our level of seriousness and it shows that we aren’t joking but we are in to win.”

Delta North Youths, a sociopolitical group duly registered and in preparation for her official inauguration, has appointed Her Royal Majesty, Obi Martha Dunkwu (Omu Okpanam/Omu Anioma and Nneoha) as her Patron.

The group made this disclosure when a delegation of the members, led by Amb. Mayor Enujeko as President visited Omu Anioma's Palace to intimate her of their plans to officially recognise her as the Mother to the group during their inauguration coming up on the 14th April, 2022.

Enujeko described Omu Dunkwu as a pioneer and proper restorer of the Anioma dignity, insisting that for Anioma to attain the level of ethnic nationality is in the hands of Omu Dunkwu.

His words, "Anioma was long overdue for the position of Omu Anioma. However, we thank God for giving you to us. No one else is more qualified than Omu Anioma to be our mother and that is why we have come to you to duly inform you about this arrangement. It is time for Delta North Youths to wake up from sleep and face the reality of the sociopolitical life of our society as presently structured", he added.

Responding, Omu commended Enujeko for being traditionally grounded, adding that she is one individual that is so passionate about intelligent Anioma Youths who are focused on what they want in life. I am optimistic about them assuming leadership to change the unfortunate trajectory of our society where values and character are at its lowest ebb presently.

Omu therefore accepted to be the Patron to the group, saying "I have always urged the youths to come into leadership and stop being deceived that they are future leaders when in actual sense they are present leaders. The world is drifting towards younger age leadership and that is why our Youths must determine the future and not allow failed leaders to factor them into the none existent future leadership", Omu Dunkwu posited.

The Delta North Youths is a duly registered group with the CAC, having structures already at the nine (9) local government areas of Delta North Senatorial District.

As a matter of fact, both the State and Local Government Areas executives will be inaugurated during the Youth Summit coming up on the 14th April, 2022, with Senator Anyim Pius Anyim as Keynote Speaker and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa will be unveiled as the Grand Patron.

In the delegation that visited was Hon. Judith Ikediashi, member representing Aniocba North Constituency in Delta State Youth Parliament. She also gave the vote of thanks where she eulogized Omu Anioma for her sterling leadership qualities and by all intents and purposes a mother that is dignified and highly respected by all and sundry.

There is also no doubt that parents are not the only one that brings up the children, as a society, environment, school, and other individuals join in one way or the other in helping in giving the children a great future. The question is; how many individuals and society takes it as a responsibility in helping the children to build or take a path leading to a successful future for themselves?

Of recent, One Man has demonstrated a standpoint in this act of showing unconditional love and care to children all around him. That man is DR. PETER A. MRAKPOR, SAN.

For those who know the country home of the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Delta State, will testify to the fact that no day goes by that the children in their numbers from Edjophe and neighboring communities are not seen at his compound in his Country Home in Edjophe, Ughelli South Local Government Area, wanting to see and play with him. Being a great lover of children, he always without fear throws his gate open to the children who come to eat and play with him day in day out.

Being so amazed by this daily act, one day while leaving his home, I met several children at the gate and decided to ask some of the questions, which they gladly answered. I asked why they were there, they answered they are there to see Commissioner, others said they came to see their big friend, which I laughed out due to the way they said it in confidence, they added that they came to play with him that he always plays with them and eat with them. Adding that they are always at his home due to his constant show of love and care to them. They also informed me that DR. Peter A.Mrakpor (SAN) most times seats some of them down to advise them and tell them stories. Hearing the way these children with excitement in their faces was narrating and telling the love and care they enjoy from the former Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Delta State, touched me.

I didn’t end there, when I left them to get a bike to take me to Jeremi Junction, I decided to hear from some parents and I was amazed by their response. I went to a gathering of about 5 parents, mainly mothers, each described Dr. Peter A.Mrakpor, SAN as a blessing to the Ejophe community, explains that the love he shows to children in and outside the community amazes them as parents, which is why they as parents have a complete rest mind anytime they find out their children are at his place. Some of them informed of how several times he paid the school fees of their children, stressing that they are always filled with joy whenever he is around. They said the love for the community and neighboring communities as being on from the times of his grandfather, and then to his father, adding that his time has brought more development to the community.

A father who walked into our discussion, described Commissioner as he is fondly called, as a non-tribal person, explaining that he has witnessed reasons to that conclusion.

I left that community with a lot in my mind, like, what a humble man, intelligent, and so much down to earth. There is no doubt that its such personality Delta State needs as Governor come 2023, as such personality will involve the good work of the present administration lead by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
