AgricultureRe: My Journey Into Agriculture - Crop&&Animal (PICTURES) by Delve(m): 10:07am On Feb 14, 2025
I have been following this thread and I think I should just give my honest opinion.

To start with, I am a pig farmer and I have done plantain farming before. All what Epainos has been saying are all through.

I want to appreciate the op that created this thread and started this journey but I can find fault in this your journey. #5000/month per room for pigs is too high but maybe it's due to your location because here, I rent #10,000/year, hope you see the difference.

Also for your crop farming, I pray you don't have bitter experience on that. Farm owners do take advantage when they see that their leased land is used for crop with longer life span. After the expiry of the agreed duration for leasing, they can just say that they want to make use of their land and you will be left with no choice than to vacate... Don't think they will sell that same land to you.... They will not do that.

I wish you success in your agric journey

What is the minimum I can order? Am in Osun state

bryan789:
Catfish farming can be profitable in Nigeria, with some studies reporting high returns on investment:
Profitability
Some studies have found that catfish farming can be profitable, with a return on investment (ROI) of 60–90%. For example, one study found that catfish farmers in Kaduna State had a net farm income of N559,950 per year, with a return on investment of 91.5%.
Profit margins
Catfish can be profitable because they sell well in restaurants, eateries, and for home use. The high demand for fish means that the profit margin is high.
Short ROI
Catfish grow quickly when fed properly, so the return on investment is short.
Easy to farm
Catfish farming is easy to do in warm climates like Africa. You can set up a catfish farm in residential and commercial areas as long as there is space.
However, some challenges to catfish farming in Nigeria include:
High production costs: The cost of feed and fingerlings can account for a large portion of total variable costs.
Poor quality: Poor quality of fingerlings and fish feed can reduce profitability.
Insufficient capital: Insufficient capital can be a constraint for farmer

jazzyking:
Do you know how to check and confirm that you're buying pure Boer and kalahari goat?

Or even the level of mixture?

I will suggest that you should find someone who knows the goats very well and pay them if possible to help you during purchase so that you don't loose money, the goats that you have mentioned are not rice and beans O.

They are very expensive.

Edozieobodo:
My advice is for you to start with local ones, you will see a female goat that gives birth to two or three. Depending on the specie, you can buy it like two or three depending on the money at hand. And one male, I think that will be ok. Then as time goes on u done I'll learn more about goat management ( u can do more browsing about it it
Thanks, I really appreciate

adamix:
My advice would be to start with the local goats first and get first hand experience about it. Reading about it is not the same as experiencing it. All your mistakes wont matter much because the locals are way cheaper than a pure boer or savannah that cost up to 2m. Imagine losing one boer goat due to inexperience. So its better to start with locals first as I've done
Thanks so much for this
