CCsurplus007:
Now this is what I have been telling my friends, tell us what you want to do and how you intend doing it not some public charade of lies and deception. When we have thousands of intellectuals to choose from, I wonder what we should still be doing with someone still arguing about his secondary school certificate. May God deliver Nigeria

But prof, someone reading this piece would imagine we were living in El-Dorado during obj's tenure. One would have assumed OBJ was pope john paul or the messiah.why was the railway not working during your tenure? despite the huge sums injected into the power sector yet phcn failed. Why wasnt any of our university among the best 200 then? rather Obj built personal libraries and universities to his name. All federal Government projects in the east was stopped or frustrated.what of the monopolistic approach of Obj when only Dangote was allowed to import anything and frustrated other peoples businesses that were opposed to him.since the agricultural sector was better during obj's tenure why dint it add to our foreign reserves and massive corruption in that sector was still rife. what about the haliburton and other numerous scandals. Soludo did not tell us that increasing workers salary then affected our recurrent expenditure now.

The thing is anybody can come and reel out figures as if it paradise during their own era. This is a nice presentation but not without some personal bias I still think both parties can learn a lot from this if they objectively look at the salient points raised.
What you wrote is to point to a supposed bias of Soludo; ideally as it bothers on his service and yet you failed to realize that he's only drawing a parallel line among three economic approach under three different government. The path of which he outlined as it relates to governance.

All you've written is purely shifting blame that reflects your political leaning rather than showing any imbalance, in economics term, to what the Prof has enunciated. You are very subjective such that your opinion lacks any logical inputs; failing the text of what is under discuss.

Jesus!!! This is a pure undiluted lie. I met the convoy at the federal bus stop while driving towards baruwa/abesan estate around 4pm yesterday with my family they were peaceful. They caused traffic and their boys were controlling traffic. Up to 10 mobile police van accompanied them. One of them told me to vote change which is pdp in Lagos and I asked him what of national...he said for that one, I wish you good luck. Apart from police carrying guns they were peaceful
You did not witness the incident that happened, did you?

You are the one not saying the truth here. I was a witness, too. Those guys did exactly what they did. They attacked the other party, APC, destroyed so many things simply because they were accompanied by Mopol. The Mopol men were not involved, though.

The Aero guy, their leader carries gun and his brother they call Dre is always armed. I know this people very well, they are not peaceful. This is not the first time they are doing this, same thing happened in 2011.

I'll not hold any ground for the APC also. They are all the same. On this matter. it was Aero that actually ordered his boys to engaged them. Why should they use guns where there are many residents?

Afterall this, he knows, that's Segun Adewale, of PDP that he can't win. He's as daft and the lowest of the low of these politicians, all of them.

I listened to an interview granted by one of ISIS commander on CNN, what he said about the movement goal is to forcefully converts all the world region to their own brand of Islam.

I know it sounds far-fetch, but with this kind of approach they are using it's easy to create a form of Armageddon.

Now, let's examine the consequences of BH and we'll be able to come to a conclusion that this problem should not be made to look like it's the Northern Nigeria problem. These people have a goal and does not exclude any region. It's very important also to point out that all their provocative messages they put online; it's just a reflection of their limitation and fear and at the same time creating division among every religion that exist in 9ja

Attack on French satirical paper
Gunmen have attacked the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 people and injuring seven in an apparent Islamist attack.

At least two masked attackers opened fire with assault rifles in the office and exchanged shots with police in the street outside before escaping by car.

The gunmen shouted "we have avenged the Prophet Muhammad", witnesses say.

President Francois Hollande said there was no doubt it had been a terrorist attack "of exceptional barbarity".

A major police operation is under way in the Paris area to catch the killers.

French President Francois Hollande: "This is an act of exceptional barbarism"
The satirical weekly has courted controversy in the past with its irreverent take on news and current affairs. It was fire-bombed in November 2011 a day after it carried a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad.

The latest tweet on Charlie Hebdo's account was a cartoon of the Islamic State militant group leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

A witness filmed the scene as the sound of gunshots were heard
People had been "murdered in a cowardly manner", President Hollande told reporters at the scene. "We are threatened because we are a country of liberty," he added, appealing for national unity.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron said in a tweet: "The murders in Paris are sickening. We stand with the French people in the fight against terror and defending the freedom of the press."

Analysis: Hugh Schofield, BBC News, Paris
Charlie Hebdo is part of a venerable tradition in French journalism going back to the scandal sheets that denounced Marie-Antoinette in the run-up to the French Revolution.

The tradition combines left-wing radicalism with a provocative scurrility that often borders on the obscene. Its decision to mock the Prophet Muhammad in 2011 was entirely consistent with its historic raison d'etre.

The paper has never sold in enormous numbers - and for 10 years from 1981, it ceased publication for lack of resources.

But with its garish front-page cartoons and incendiary headlines, it is an unmissable staple of newspaper kiosks and railway station booksellers.

Charlie Hebdo and its satirical role

Two of those killed are police officers, France's AFP news agency reports, and several of the wounded are in a critical condition.

An eyewitness, Benoit Bringer, told French TV channel Itele: "Two black-hooded men entered the building with Kalashnikovs. A few minutes later we heard lots of shots."

The men were then seen fleeing the building.

Gilles Boulanger, who works in the same building as the office, told the same channel: "A neighbour called to warn me that there were armed men in the building and that we had to shut all the doors
David Chour in Paris: "Two guys entered with Kalashnikov guns"
"And several minutes later, there were several shots heard in the building from automatic weapons firing in all directions. So then we looked out of the window and saw the shooting was on Boulevard Richard-Lenoir, with the police. It was really upsetting. You'd think it was a war zone."

After the attack, police warned French media outlets to be on alert and pay attention to security.

The country was already on the alert for Islamist attacks after several incidents just before Christmas.

Cars were driven at shoppers in two cities, Dijon and Nantes, and police were attacked by a man wielding a knife in Tours.

While the French government denied the attacks were linked, it announced plans to further raise security in public spaces, including the deployment of around 300 soldiers.

kennaustine:
^^^ Whats really wrong with y'all APC propagandist? The increase in tariffs for imported automobile is to encourage local automobile manufacturers. Common SS2 Economics student will tell you that one way of encouraging local production is increasing import tariffs. That's called Import Substitution Strategy. Aren't you ashamed that Nigeria has become a dumping ground for every kind of crap produced in other climes? We have Innoson, PAN, ANNAMCO, VON, Nissan and other automobile manufacturers in Nigeria and we know that government is trying to revitalize them so as to boosts our economy. Yet you criticize this one very good move government makes to see to its realization. Many of these imported cars have been used for above five years and then they're moved to Nigeria for dumping, after which when you buy, you'll use for no more than three years and the money u would have spent on repairs and maintenance may have exceeded the original cost. Some brand new Innoson cars go for 1.5m and they're trying to beat it down to 1m. So which is better ; buying a brand new car for 1.5m and enjoying it for 3 to 4 years without excessive repair cost or buying a tokie car for 800thousand and spending over 500thousand on repairs in 3 years. A relation of mine has spent about 300th on repairs on a tokie car he bought for about 800th and the car IS STILL HAVING ISSUES. Wont it have been better to just buy a brand new made-in-Nigeria car and save yourself some unecessary stress. Why are we so used to cheap craps and worthless articles? Is that what APC wants for us? SMH. Which way Nigeria? #SeeBeyondPropaganda
Your interpretation of economics, as regards this topic, is basically emotional, lacks basics and full of political sentiments.
Yes, the move is very good but lacks targeted layers of economics indicator in a competitive global market.
The typical pattern of a diversifying economy must address and first focus on good economics indicatives; which is the foundation of basic infrastructures such as: power and road.

Nigeria automotive industry, as it stands and designed, lacks engineering leverage and financial instruments (there's not a bank in 9ja that will make loan available, competitively; say 7% to make car purchase)
In other to survive, the future must be understood not in conflict with the people and culture. This industry will not create jobs because its robotic in nature. What is needed is to locate where wealth opportunity exists and not jump into a bandwagon.

What you have as 1.5m is cheap. Cheap in the sense that its assembling procedures fail to address safety which is the most important aspect in autocar.

Nevertheless, our fearlessness to succeed, which is what this is, on the foundation of innovation which in itself is the concept of control to create wealth opportunity; not necessarily on a quest of car assemblage. When we address policies purely on it's merit and not on political premise, interest and intrigues; but purely on advancing technology, risk-taking and people focus, then the nation wills to succeed will logically land us in Eldorado.
