Styles didnt even move to the US until a few years ago. He might be acquiring it sha... but the Harry I knew had this amazing English accent

But the Styles I have come to listen to is unmistakably American.

At first, I used to think he sounded British, and then it began to look like an hybrid, all over the place.

But then it began to sound more American than British.

My godmother who is British confirmed my suspicion.

Ordinarily, I can tell the difference straight away, but I didn't find it very easy the day I settled the case of Styles's accent.

It is definitely more American than British.

Oh... just bants, oo. But I love your take on it. Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik are native speakers, but I love their accent and it doesnt sound monotonous to me. Maybe because I'm not bombarded with it, sha, as I've only heard them on interviews

In my opinion, it is sometimes all about the voice of the speaker for me.

For someone who has traveled, I have come across different speakers.

I notice the native English speakers are particular about the English language, and so they speak rather very slowly, and sounding rather monotonous. It makes the accent rather flat.

But when you listen to Wole Soyinka speak British English with his fruity voice, you will like the British accent even more.

I have also noticed that non-native speakers who have mastered the British English accent are able to speak it faster than the natives, and thus not sounding anywhere as monotonous.

Consider Sir Tafawa Balewa (Nigeria's first and only prime minister). Listen to him speak the British English, and compare it to the flat tone of any prominent native speakers, and you will like the British accent even more.

My take is that the American English sounds more attractive generally, because the British accent is slow and monotonous across nearly all native speakers.

But I prefer it still to the rhotic American accent. There is a grandness about the accent. The American accent is rather too informal for me.

British accent over Ameican accent, though. And even over Spanish accented English and French accented ones.
