The Labour Party (LP) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to arrest the party’s former National Chairman, Julius Abure, over an alleged unlawful entry into the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. The call was made on Thursday by the LP’s interim National Chairman, Esther Nenadi Usman, and the NLC’s Acting General Secretary, Benson Upah, while addressing journalists at the party’s headquarters.

Usman accused Abure of forcefully entering the secretariat late Tuesday night and removing official party documents, describing the act as criminal and disgraceful. She said the alleged action undermined institutional integrity and violated basic principles of accountability.

However, Abure’s camp dismissed the allegation, denying any attack on the secretariat and counter-accusing the Usman-led National Caretaker Committee of burglary.

Usman insisted that documents belonging to any institution must remain within its offices to safeguard institutional memory and continuity, adding that the matter had already been reported to security agencies.
