People underestimate cultural differences in marriage. It's like asking a man or a woman who has lived abroad for 30 yrs to come back and marry; that marriage will never work because he and she are not on the same level in terms of their outlook to life, religion, family, e.t.c. So marry where you grew up only or lived there enough to understand the culture! Someone who has lived in Nigeria maybe comfortable with large extended family coming in and out of the house but someone who has lived abroad may not tolerate it. I knew a couple that fought over this. She thought something was wrong with him for not accepting her large Nigerian family, and he thinks she is stupid for bringing her large family around their family. Another area they had issue was church; she wants to go to church every Sunday but he doesn't want to go not because he is ogboni or something, because where he grew up he never went to church and didn't see the need for it. LOL..I had to reason with her that she should understand where he is coming from based on his culture.

Scenes like these were seen during the massacre of Biafrans during the war. Asaba massacre and Ibibio maasacre by Adenkule come to mind. Adenkule slaughtered over 10,000 Ibibio men between the age of 9-40. When asked why he targeted Ibibio, he responded " we know they are Igbos; we have their history."

The first thing I'll do is to force Hausa-Fulani and yorubas to stay on their own...forced separation. Igbos are very confident in their abilities to be on their own but Hausa-Fulani and Yorubas are not; they want a country with Igbos. LOL
