NYSC › 30 Hours Of Hard Data Work For N20,000: How INEC Ekiti East Treated A Corper by Devstream(op): 9:13am On Aug 05
Fellow Nairalanders,

I am writing this post to draw public attention to the unfair treatment and shortchanging of ad-hoc staff and Corps Members by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State, specifically Ekiti East Local Government Area.

As a professional data analyst currently serving in Ekiti State, I was engaged by INEC to carry out data analysis, compilation, and spreadsheet management for ad-hoc staff deployment and account records.

The Facts of the Case:
Total Time Logged: Over 30 hours of continuous, high-intensity technical data work compiling personnel and account spreadsheets for regional headquarters.

Payment Received: A paltry ₦20,000, which does not reflect the volume, technical scope, or agreed-upon compensation for the hours worked during the last Ekiti state governorship election conducted on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

Efforts to Resolve Locally:

I traveled down to the INEC State Office in Ado-Ekiti (the state capital) to lay a formal complaint.

I met the State Office Accountant.

She gave me her word that the issue would be looked into and that I would be contacted shortly.

The Current Situation:
It has now been 10 days since my visit to the Ado-Ekiti state office, and there has been zero communication, no follow-up, and no effort to rectify this underpayment.

Corps members and ad-hoc staff commit their skills, time, and energy to support critical national tasks, only to be met with neglect and underpayment by officials on the ground.

I am calling on the INEC National Headquarters in Abuja (@inecnigeria), the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Ekiti State, and the general public to intervene and ensure that ad-hoc staff and corps members are paid their rightful dues transparently.
