Barr. Chioma Nweze Commends Engr. David Umahi and President Tinubu for Ongoing Works on Onitsha–Owerri Road

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South East), Hon. Barr. Chioma Nweze, has commended the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, CON, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for their unwavering commitment to transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure, particularly through the ongoing reinstatement works on the Onitsha–Owerri Road — one of the most strategic routes connecting Anambra and Imo States.

Barr. Nweze described the project as a clear demonstration of the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Agenda under President Tinubu’s administration, which continues to deliver durable, safe, and economically vital road networks across the country.

“What we are witnessing along the Onitsha–Owerri axis is not just road repair — it is evidence of purposeful leadership and practical governance. Engr. Umahi’s technical expertise and President Tinubu’s political will are translating promises into tangible progress for the South-East,” she stated.

The Onitsha–Owerri Road, a lifeline for trade and transport in the region, has long been in a deplorable state, causing hardship to millions of road users.

The current intervention, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Works, focuses on reinstating failed sections using rigid pavement technology to ensure long-term stability and durability.

Barr. Nweze further noted that the project will boost economic activities, enhance inter-state mobility, and ease business operations across the South-East and South-South corridors.

“For traders, transporters, and residents, this road means livelihood. The Federal Government’s intervention brings hope, opportunity, and renewed confidence that the South-East remains a priority in national development,” she added.

The SSA praised Engr. Umahi’s hands-on supervision style and his insistence on quality delivery, saying the Works Minister has “redefined the standard of public infrastructure projects” through innovation, transparency, and accountability.
She reaffirmed the Presidency’s commitment to ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda reaches every part of the country, adding that more federal projects are underway to open up the South-East for accelerated growth and regional integration.

According to her, the success of the International Day of the Girl Child in Nigeria reflects a unified national response—from federal to grassroots levels—designed to ensure that every girl’s voice is heard.

Speaking during an interview following his nomination for the 2025 DMOMA Awards in the category of ‘International Business Ambassador’, Mr. Trivedi praised the remarkable infrastructural growth and socio-economic stability achieved in Rivers State, particularly under the administration of former Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

“I must tell you the truth, no state in Nigeria has experienced the kind of rapid development that Rivers State witnessed in the last ten years,” he stated.

“The massive road constructions and over ten flyovers have decongested traffic and redefined urban mobility. I have not seen such achievements anywhere else in the country.”

Mr. Trivedi, who has lived in Nigeria for over four decades, described Port Harcourt as one of the safest and most business-friendly cities in Nigeria today.

“Even the police force has improved greatly. Officers are now more professional; they simply request your driver’s license at checkpoints without soliciting for money.
Rivers State has changed for the better. People are going about their businesses peacefully — it’s truly a safe and progressive city.”

As the head of Jazmyne Table Water, Mr. Trivedi attributed his success to teamwork, quality assurance, and divine guidance.

“It is my duty to make people happy. I’m only happy when others are happy. At Jazmyne, we never compromise on quality. We maintain hygiene, cleanliness, and listen to consumer feedback. We’ve been operating for two years and have been greatly blessed — it’s only God Almighty that makes success possible,” he emphasized.

Looking ahead, Mr. Trivedi revealed plans for Jazmyne’s expansion into beverage production, signaling a new phase of industrial growth within Port Harcourt.

“Very soon, Jazmyne will not only produce table water but also beverages in Rivers State. We haven’t arrived yet, but we are committed to continuous improvement.”

Delivering the welcome address, Prof. Dennis B. Ewubare, Head of department of Economics and Secretary General of NES Rivers state chapter and Host of the event, described the occasion as a milestone in the history of the Faculty of Social Sciences, RSU.

The Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir (Hon.) Allwell Ihunda DSSRS, JP, has inaugurated a 100-member Ward Committee to lead grassroots sensitization and mobilization for the ongoing voter registration exercise across the LGA.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mayor Ihunda voiced concern over the low response so far, stressing that robust community engagement was crucial to ensuring that every eligible resident participates.

“As of today, the response we have received is not encouraging,” the Mayor noted.

“We have therefore constituted Ward Committees to sensitize and mobilize our people from all wards in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area to register.”

The initiative specifically targets:
Citizens who have just turned 18,
Residents above 18 who have never registered, and
Individuals relocating from other LGAs, states, or countries who wish to transfer their polling centres to Port Harcourt City.

Acknowledging the city’s fast-growing population, the Mayor emphasized that voter registration was both a civic duty and a gateway to empowerment.

“We need to go into the communities, identify these residents, talk to them, and mobilize them to register. By so doing, we will also increase our voting strength in the Local Government,” he said.

Mayor Ihunda further reminded citizens that a voter’s card is not only essential for elections but also serves as a valid form of identification for everyday needs such as opening bank accounts.

He charged committee members to approach their task with commitment, describing them as “critical partners” in achieving a stronger voter turnout.

“INEC will handle the registration and biometric capturing, but it is your duty to get the people there.
We will support you with every resource necessary to ease your work,” he assured.

The Mayor commended the Leader and Councillors of the Local Government Legislative Council for swiftly nominating qualified individuals from each ward to serve on the committees.

The newly inaugurated committees are expected to commence work immediately, intensifying awareness campaigns and driving participation in voter registration across all wards in Port Harcourt City.

The Rivers State Internal Revenue Service (RIRS) has formally launched a new set of Revenue Tax Codes, a landmark reform designed to revolutionize revenue collection, strengthen transparency, and align fiscal reporting in the state with international standards.

The initiative, which adopts the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), was officially unveiled on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Rivers State Government House by the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas.

A Bold Step Toward Fiscal Discipline:

Speaking at the launch, Vice Admiral Ibas described the reform as a decisive measure to address long-standing weaknesses in the state’s revenue system.

“For too long, our revenue system has suffered from weak or imprecise computation, creating loopholes that encouraged leakages, inconsistencies, and outright losses,” he stated.

“This reform ushers in transparency, accountability, and efficiency. Every transaction will be traceable, every payment verifiable, and every process auditable in real time. For taxpayers, it means convenience.
For government, it means reliable revenue inflows. And for our people, it means resources will be better harnessed to deliver infrastructure and essential services.”

Ibas underscored the need for continuity, urging stakeholders to sustain the gains of the reform beyond his tenure:

“Though my time here is short, the legacy we leave behind is one of courage, discipline, and reform. History will judge that every action was taken for the general good of Rivers State.”

Strengthening Rivers State’s Global Fiscal Identity:
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of RIRS, Sir Israel Onwuanaku Egbunefu (FCTI, FIMC, FCPM, MNIM), described the new codes as a transformative milestone that globalizes the state’s fiscal identity.
“With IPSAS, Rivers State is no longer reporting revenue in isolation. It is speaking a language understood by the World Bank, the United Nations, and global financial institutions,” Egbunefu explained.

He noted that the system would unlock billions of naira in previously lost or under-reported revenue and position Rivers State as a credible destination for investment and international credit.

“Rivers State RIRS New Revenue Codes Will Help Us To Gain, Collect More, Account Better For Economic Benefits Of The State.” - he added.

How the New System Works:

At the heart of the reform is a standardized Revenue Tax Code system designed to simplify payments, eliminate multiple taxation, and ensure that every payment is directed to the correct government account.

RIVTIN Requirement: No payment can be made without a Rivers State Tax Identification Number (RIVTIN), which ensures all payments are tracked. Taxpayers can obtain RIVTIN via the official RIVTAMIS portal: https://rivtamis.riversbirs.gov.ng/ .

Payments at Banks/Revenue Houses: Taxpayers present their RIVTIN, obtain a customized Rivers State Government deposit slip, select the correct Revenue Code from the official chart, and complete transactions via PayDirect. An electronic receipt (e-receipt) is issued as proof.

Online Payments: Through the Rivers State Revenue Payment Portal, taxpayers log in with their RIVTIN, select the correct code, choose the relevant MDA, and pay securely via bank card, USSD, or online banking. Every payment generates an e-receipt tied to the RIVTIN and Revenue Code.

Ensuring Compliance and Accountability:
RIRS warned that payments made under the wrong code may not reflect properly and would require correction at the revenue office. Taxpayers are therefore urged to always confirm their Revenue Codes before making payments.

The new codes are mandatory for all taxpayers from the date of implementation, with penalties for non-compliance. Revenue Codes are readily accessible on the RIRS website, area offices, accredited banks, and sensitization flyers.

Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has taken a significant step towards improving waste management in the state, the board has partnered with professionals in the waste management sector to develop innovative solutions for effective waste management.

Speaking during the strategic meeting Dr. Ibimina Wokoma Managing Director RIWAMA expressed the need for collaborative effort towards changing the wrong narrative on waste management in the state. Dr. Ibimina Wokoma emphasized that the newly constituted board members are all competent and carried the zeal to restore the garden city status. He stressed that with the plans and programs put in place very soon Rivers State will be ranked the best clean State in Nigeria.

Also speaking at the meeting Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, Chairman RIWAMA Board disclosed that the Agency will leave no stone unturned in its resolve to have a clean and green state.

The RIWAMA Board Chairman commended the partners for her innovative ideas in Waste Management and promised that the new board will drive every good process that benefits the environment and public health in the State, while urging them to take into cognisance our environmental perculiarity as they profer possible solutions.

In his response Dr Ibrahim Odumboni ( MD, Le Dynasty Acres Limited), former MD, LAWMA said the team is in Rivers State to review waste challenges and design a sustainable waste management solution for the state. He said the areas of concentration will include; Staff/Workers Competence, Commercial Viablility of the agency, Suatainable solutions to perenial waste management challenges in the State, funding issues, Job opportunities, Service providers motivation and efficiency, equipment/technical issues etc.

Bille Chiefs Hit Back at Kalabari “Falsehoods”, Accuse Asari Dokubo of Land-Grabbing Agenda.

The Chiefs and people of Dabira Community in Bille Kingdom, Degema Local Government Area, have issued a fiery rejoinder against what they describe as “baseless fabrications” and “historical distortions” by Kalabari groups parading under the newly-contrived title of Torusarama-Piri.

In the strongly worded statement signed by community leaders, Bille accused the Kalabari of twisting history to mask what they called “illegal encroachments” on Bille territories, including the oil-rich Krikama (wrongly spelt Krakama) axis.



According to the Bille chiefs, Kalabari’s very origin was tied to Bille benevolence. They reiterated that the Kalabari founders were settled on Bille land after being expelled from Bonny for “constant disobedience,” with the name Kalabari itself derived from Kala-Mbari (Please give them a little).

The rejoinder went further, challenging Kalabari’s claim over boundaries, citing colonial-era intelligence reports, judicial inquiries, and Supreme Court judgments that, they say, affirm Bille’s ownership of the disputed territories.



On oil, Bille insisted that the so-called “Krakrama Oilfield” is nothing but the Krikama Oilfield of Bille Kingdom, accusing Kalabari leaders of manipulating Shell records to falsely claim ownership.

They alleged that Kalabari militias, led by Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, launched violent attacks in the late 1990s and early 2000s to erase Bille’s Krikama community and bury the truth.

The statement also poured scorn on Asari Dokubo’s recent coronation as Dabaye-Amakiri I, Amayanabo of Torusarama-Piri, describing it as a “crown without history” and “a ploy to annex Dabira, Ele, Touma and other Bille lands.”

“We shall never allow any individual or group to rewrite history or seize Dabira by force. Bille gave Elem Kalabari to Kalabari people when they came begging, but we will not fold our hands while Asari Dokubo uses a fake kingship stool as a weapon of oppression,” the rejoinder declared.

The Dabira leaders called on the Federal and Rivers State Governments, as well as security agencies, to check what they described as Kalabari’s “renewed aggression” before another round of violence erupts.

They concluded by stressing Bille’s commitment to peace but warned that the Kingdom remains ready to defend its lands and dignity:
“Billienbo, Billienbo Birasime.”

The Khana Local Government Traditional Rulers’ Council has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent appointments of notable sons and daughters from the Ogoni community to key national positions.

Rising from an extraordinary meeting held in Bori on Monday, September 1, 2025, the council in a communiqué read by the chairman of Khana Local Government Area Traditional Rulers, Council, His Majesty, King Dr. Baridam Suanu Timothy Yormaadam, JP, Amb.P, FNIS, FCSI, FNIM, Finr-S.A, MCI’rb. Gbenemene & Kasimene of the Ancient Bangha Kingdom, Ogoni Land VIII/ Secretary Supreme Council Forum of Africa Traditional Authorities (FATA) praised the President for establishing the Federal University of Environment and Technology (FUET) in Ogoniland, and the appointment of Professor Don Baridam as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council.

The traditional rulers also hailed the appointment of the President of KAGOTE, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Nwiika Deeyah as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, (HYPREP).

The Khana royal fathers described these appointments as a positive step toward empowering the Ogoni community and fostering inclusive governance.

The council further congratulated Hon. Dr. Bariere Thomas on his election as Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, along with the 19 newly elected councilors during the August 30, 2025, local government council elections, urging the new leadership to govern inclusively, serving all people of Khana regardless of political affiliations.

Addressing concerns over recent media criticisms, the council strongly condemned the attacks on the Honorable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom E. Wike, CON, as well as on Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Nwiika Deeyah and other sons and daughters of Khana.

The council described such media attacks as irresponsible and pledged to impose sanctions if they continued, emphasizing the need to uphold the dignity of the Ogoni leaders.

The Traditional Rulers’ Council reaffirmed their backing of the President’s constitutional right to make appointments and called for unity and respect within the Khana people to ensure peace and development in the region.

The resolutions mark a clear endorsement of President Tinubu’s efforts to elevate the Ogoni community and a call for clean, inclusive governance in Khana Local Government Area going forward.

The Khana Local Government Traditional Rulers’ Council met on Monday, 1 September 2025 and resolved as follows:

1. We thank His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for establishing the Federal University of Environmental and Technology in Ogoniland.

2. We further express our gratitude to the President for appointing distinguished sons of Khana Local Government Area to serve our fatherland at top levels including Professor Don Baridam as Pro‑Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University of Environment and Technology and Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Nwiika Deeyah as Chairman, Board of Trustees, Ogoni Trust Fund (HYPREP).

3. We congratulate Hon. Dr. Bariere Thomas on his election as Chairman, Khana Local Government Area and the 19 councillors that were elected on 30 August 2025. 5. Council is appalled at the continued attacks on the office and person of the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom E. Wike, CON. We condemn such attacks and make further entreaty to His Excellency, Mene kwalenu 1 of Ogoni, a title that was jointly conferred by all Chiefs and Traditional Rulers of Ogoni land, to always remember reputable sons and daughters of Khana Local Government for placement in offices as he is doing.

6. Council further condemns continued unwarranted attacks on our sons and daughters through the media and warn that any further attacks will be met with stiff sanctions by the Traditional Rulers.

NNPCL’s Pipeline Securitization Policy: A Game Changer Driving Nigeria’s Oil Sector Recovery and Future Growth.


In June 2025, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) achieved a historic milestone with 100% availability of its major crude oil pipelines, marking a significant turnaround for the nation’s oil and gas industry. This achievement, driven by robust security interventions and effective contract management on key infrastructure projects, led to a rebound in crude oil and condensate production, hitting 1.68 million barrels per day the highest output since January. This surge directly contributed to total revenue of N4.571 trillion for the month, underscoring the pivotal role of pipeline securitization in stabilizing and enhancing Nigeria’s oil supply chain.

The milestone not only restored confidence in Nigeria’s upstream sector but also highlighted progress in critical gas infrastructure projects essential for expanding gas delivery to industries and communities. However, in July 2025, the company reported a sharp 79.6% decline in profit after tax—from N905 billion in June to N185 billion—despite a slight increase in oil production. This downturn reflects ongoing challenges, including underinvestment in upstream operations, extensive refinery rehabilitation programs requiring heavy capital expenditure, and volatile global market conditions.

NNPCL’s ambitious refinery upgrades in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna aim to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products, promising medium- to long-term benefits despite current financial pressures. According to NNPC Group CEO Bayo Ojulari, this profit dip was anticipated as part of a strategic plan to position the company for sustainable growth, focusing on enhanced domestic refining capacity and operational efficiency.

Crucially, the pipeline securitization policy, championed by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) alongside NNPCL, has mitigated what could have otherwise been a far more severe financial downturn. By significantly curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism—issues that have historically led to enormous revenue losses—this policy is projected to save Nigeria hundreds of millions of dollars monthly. It ensures a more secure, efficient flow of crude oil and petroleum products, bolstering Nigeria’s energy infrastructure, industrial capacity, and economic growth.

Moreover, a secure and reliable pipeline network attracts investment and fosters regional expansion, supporting Nigeria’s vision of energy self-sufficiency within the ECOWAS region. By safeguarding vital assets, the policy facilitates steady crude deliveries to refineries, underpinning efforts to achieve national refining adequacy and ensuring consistent fuel supply critical for societal and economic activities.

In a country where petroleum remains the backbone of the economy, NNPCL’s pipeline securitization policy stands as a transformative initiative—curbing losses, enhancing revenues, and securing Nigeria’s place as a resilient and growing energy powerhouse.

Land Grabbers Reportedly Led By Conel Eke Violently Invade And Destroy Properties Along Obiri-IKwere Airport Road, Port-Harcourt

- Property owners accused the Rivers State CP of conniving with the land grabbers.

Pandemonium erupted last weekend at the Victory Estate, along the Port Harcourt International Airport Road, following the invasion by armed men reportedly brought by the land grabbers.

This followed repeated invasions by alledged land grabbers identified as Col. Ogwumerum Eke, Lord C. Nwosu, Chief Mike (aka Edo 1), Chima Providence Dike, and others, who actually were disputants in the land matter.

Residents alleged that the group, in connivance with operatives of the Rivers State Police Command, are deliberately attempting to illegally seize over 4,000 plots of land, destroying fences, buildings, and assaulting property owners.

The Rivers police denied such and said they will always do everything necessary to restore peace and order in the state.

The invaders are said to parade a customary court judgment that awarded about 100 plots of land to them in Rumuagholu and not Rumuosi, which judgment has been executed since.
The true ownership and locations are confirmed by residents who said this is reiterated in the report of the Rivers State Surveyor General dated 11th June, 2025 marked RSS/129/T2/121 after a Geospatial analysis and overlay on the site plan marked as Exhibit A in the said Customary Court judgment.

The property owners are on the note that it no connection to Victory Estate but is being used to intimidate and dispossess lawful owners.

Eyewitnesses report that the attackers often arrive with suspected but armed cultists under police escort. They have struck at least five times in recent months.

The targeted land, locals say, is historically owned by the people, yet the alleged grabbers hail from a neighboring community.

Afraid of an escalation into violence, the Victory Estate community is calling on the Rivers State Government and the Inspector General of Police to urgently intervene and prevent what they fear to be “pending bloodbath.”

The land invaders on Sunday also locked up the Dunamis church during Church service and seized their phones.

A Real Estate Consultant representing 46 affected landowners, (name withheld) insisted that they must get justice for what the ‘Colonel’ has done.

“We are facing a serious issue involving land grabbers and criminals along Obiri Kwere Airport Road in Port-Harcourt.

Our lands and properties have been invaded by individuals led by Colonel Ogwumerum Eke, Lord C. Nwosu, Chima Providence Dike, Chief Mike Oyiakhira (aka Edo 1), and the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State.

We urge the general public to exercise caution and avoid any land purchases along Obiri-Ikwere Airport Road due to these illegal activities. We also call on the appropriate authorities to intervene in this situation to stop these criminals from further invading and destroying our properties.”

A Magistrate court sitting in Port-Harcourt is sitting in the case after the arrest of the land grabber in Rumuosi Ohia-Egbelu axis of Airport Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The 56-year-old suspected land grabber Conel Eke Ogwumerum, and others at large are facing 21 count charges bothering on, including conspiracy, stealing, malicious damages of properties worth billions of naira, and breach of peace.

Dez Mayorz News gathered that the land he is trying to grab is over 5,000 plots of land located around Airport Road axis to Rumuekini axis.

Mr. Eke uses a court judgment he got years back around Rumuosi (Sars road) to grab lands that are far away from where he got the judgment, making it the fourth time he is using such to grab lands.

Some of the properties involved are owned by Salvation Ministry Church, Dunamis Church, Nigerian Society of Engineers, and Nigerian Pharmaceuticals Association, to mention but a few, which the community sold to them for over 15 years ago.

You may recall that over 200 landowners are victims of the current land-grabbing situation in Rumuosi Ohia-Egbelu axis of Airport Road in Rivers State.

Some individuals who spoke to our correspondent said they are victims of the activities of the suspected land grabber, Ogwumerum Eke have narrated the violence they suffered in the hands of the alledged land invader.

They said they were beaten up and their property worth billions of naira destroyed.

While the case is still in court, one person was seen seriously injured while the house owners marched to the Government House in Port Harcourt to lodge fresh petition.

A DEMAND FOR THE RE-APPOINTMENT OF CHiEF DR MIKE NWIELAGHI AS CHAIRMAN, BOARD OF

As Chiefs and Elders Council of Buan in Yorla oil Field in Ogoni Land, we write to express our displeasure of how some political motivated individuals substituted the name of our son Chief Dr. Mike Nwielaghi for another person .
The press release from state House, ( 11th August,2025), clearly shows your good intentions of Mr. President to Re-appoint our son and your staunch supporter from the days of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress ( AC) to All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Rivers State, Chief Dr. Mike Nwielaghi.
It is based on the above, we are demanding that Mr President should Re-appoint Chief Dr. Mike Nwielaghi as Chairman, Board of Trustees of HYDROCABON POLLUTION and Remediation project.
Mr. President sir, Buan Community in Ogoni is in Yorla oil field where about 50% of our Farm land is occupied by oil wells and pipelines criss- crossing the Rivers and creeks, which have denied us sources of Livelihood over the years. It has also placed our children, women and men at high risk and danger of pollution for several decades. Thank fully enough, this was the first time a son or daughter from our community was privileged to had gotten an appointment at either state or Federal levels of government for the past fifty years.

Mr President, it is to be further underscored that Buan community has not less than 30% stakeholders voice in the oil resumption in Ogoni being an oil producing area of Rivers State.
Mr. President, permit us to equally say that, Nwika Deeyaah Emmanuel though from Ogoni has no immediate stake in oil production in Ogoni Land. Moreover, he has held various positions ranging from Commissioner, Member house of Assembly, Member, Federal House of Representatives Abuja etc. With no visible impacts on the lives and people of his community and Ogoni at large,
Mr. President sir, we are strongly demanding that Chief Dr. Mike Nwielaghi be Re-appointed to enable him complete the various HYPREP projects which he started in his community and Ogoniland as a whole.

FG Meets Oil Revenue Target for First Time in Years, Credits PINL, Security Agencies

…as PINL reaffirms commitment to sustainable energy security

For the first time in many years, the Federal Government has met its oil and gas revenue benchmark — a milestone the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) attributes to improved security and sustained peace in the Niger Delta, driven by the efforts of security agencies and pipeline surveillance contractors such as Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL).

The announcement was made by FIRS Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, when he received a delegation of senior military officers led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa. According to him, the coordinating director of the Large Tax Group confirmed that the 2025 oil and gas sector target had been achieved, thanks to steady production and higher profitability among companies operating in the sector.

“This is the first time in a long while that we’ve met our oil and gas target,” Adedeji said. “The peace in oil-producing areas has allowed production to thrive, and companies are making more profit. Prosperity can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace — and the Armed Forces are critical stakeholders in sustaining that peace.”

*PINL’s Zero-Infraction Record*

Speaking at a monthly engagement with host communities from Rivers, Abia, and Imo States, PINL’s General Manager, Community and Stakeholders Relations, Dr. Akpos Mezeh, said the company’s operations directly contributed to the nation’s revenue milestone.

“PINL recorded zero infractions in the past month, which helped boost national crude oil production,” Mezeh said. “Our results are built on strong community partnerships, consistent safety measures for personnel, timely salary payments, and rapid dispute resolution. These strategies have reduced downtime and increased trust.”

He highlighted recent interventions, including oil spill response in Yorla, Kpean (Khana LGA, Rivers State) and the dismantling of illegal bunkering sites in Umubule and Oyigbo communities. Mezeh also updated stakeholders on PINL’s CSR programmes for youth and women, while reaffirming the company’s alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

*NNPCL Urges Collaboration*

Head of Field Operations, Eastern Corridor, NNPCL’s Project Monitoring Office, Engr. Akponine Omojevwe, called for continuous synergy between PINL and host communities.

“PINL has gone the extra mile with scholarships and community benefits. Securing the pipelines is a shared responsibility. Let us support them and protect their equipment,” Omojevwe said.

*Busting Illegal Refining Sites*

Joint operations between PINL and the Special Prosecution Task Force (SPT) recently uncovered two major illegal refining sites in Oyigbo LGA, Rivers State. One site operated under the guise of a logistics firm, Emekus Nigeria Ltd, while the other was hidden within a piggery on the remote eastern bank of the Imo River.

The raids, led by CSP Omar Sini of the SPT, resulted in the confiscation of stolen crude, refining equipment, three storage tanks, and a 33,000-litre truck. Three suspects were arrested at Emekus Nigeria Ltd, while another fled the piggery site upon sighting the task force.

“This discovery was possible through intelligence from PINL’s community-based surveillance guards,” said Andrew Ebikeme of PINL. “Maintaining strong ties with the SPT and host communities has been key to protecting the nation’s oil assets.”

SPT’s CSP Sini confirmed that 108 suspects are currently remanded across the Niger Delta and Abuja, with two convictions already secured and 38 cases at trial.

Mezeh reiterated PINL’s “unwavering commitment to sustainable energy security” and urged all stakeholders to remain united in combating vandalism, oil theft, and environmental pollution.

“We have a shared responsibility to rescue our economy from further bleeding,” he said. “Sustaining these gains means all hands must remain on deck.”
