Yea, Kent Uni here.

Tier 4 general sponsored student should be the appropriate visa type since you are being sponsored. I just googled and read the uni of Manchester visa guide and it says otherwise explaining each visa type

Yea, that's what I saw on their visa Guide. LSE says the same thing - go for tier 4 general even though you have sponsorship. I called someone at UKEAS Abuja, and he said same thing. Have decided to go with the tier 4 general student. Thanks for you time.

I have a quick question please regarding visa sub-type. I am applying for tier 4 student visa for my PhD, and I am fully sponsored by both my school in the UK and the university where I work here in Nigeria (both pass as official financial sponsors). Which visa sub type is most appropriate? I had thought it should be Tier 4 general sponsored student, but I read somewhere (uni of Manchester visa guide) that I should still select tier 4 general student, the sponsorship not withstanding. This is what is causing the confusion. Any ideas pls?

Good to know that you were able to get it from your uni...funny though that HM refused to give you but directed you where to get it grin

Yes o, at least I was consoled by HM suggestion, even though they refused to give it to me. And their suggestion paid out at the end.

@DFAM you are lucky o, I even think under the data protection act, your school should no longer have kept your NI number with them not even account number after a period of time.

All the best.

Thanks. I really thank God that my school is still in possession of the number and that they gave it to me without any qualms.

Greetings everyone,

This is a follow-up on the issue about my lost NI. I promised to update the house on it. So I called the HM Revenue and Customs this morning. After series of security questions the guy insisted he can't give it to me over the phone or even through e-mail due to the data protection act. He said he can only send it to a UK address, which he said can take up to 10-15 working days. I told him I don't have that kind of time, and he then suggested I contact my former employers in the UK as they should be able to give me the number via phone.

So I immediately called the University where I did my Msc because I did some work for them. Within few minutes, the lady at the payroll section gave me my NI number - I only answered few basic questions. I really thank God I have finally found this number o. Thanks to all who made one suggestion or the other on this.

I will be surprised if you are able to pull that off calling from Nigeria.

I sincerely hope I can, though I reckon they will not want to give such number via phone, but by post to a UK address. Will keep the house updated on this.

If you pass the security questions, there is no reason why they can't release it to you. The NI is yours na so forget bureaucratic grin

It doesn't matter. If you can't retrieve it back by calling them, indicate 'no' and explain in the additional section that you have lost it

Thanks for the suggestion. Will do just that if I can't retrieve the number by calling.

Did you apply or receive your tax return before leaving the UK?

If not then they might have sent the check to your address in the UK and your national insurance number will be on it.

I applied and received my tax return while I was still in the UK. It's among the documents I can't locate now. I will try and give them a call on Monday as that seems to be my only option now. I have searched my laptop for any trace, went through my Barclays account online for any hint, yet no show. I really wish I had written this number down somewhere.

Just say "Number not known"
Then you are telling the truth.
You will not be the first person to say that.

There is no such option. It's a yes or no question. If you say yes, you will have to fill in the number, but if you say no, then you pass.

You don't have any of your payslips?

Unfortunately I don't have any as I can't recall where I kept them. Even my tax refund I can't place now. I have just been thinking of the easiest way I can get this number so that I can submit my visa application say Monday or Tuesday. This is about the only thing holding me now. I am trying to avoid the bureaucracy of HM Treasury who might not want to give me the number over the phone because I don't really have plenty of time

you no get a copy of any of your payslip, P60 or tax return? otherwise call +44 171 203 7010

Unfortunately, I can't lay my hand on any of those documents now. I misplaced them when I moved out of the UK then. Thanks for the contact, will try and call them. Just that those guys can be quite bureaucratic at times, and time is not really on my side.

Greetings everyone,

Please I need some suggestions on an issue. I am currently filling my online visa application form for studies in the UK and I am required to supply my NI number if I had been assign one before. The issue is I got an NI number when I did my Msc in the UK, but I have misplaced the document and I don't have the number written anywhere. It's there anyway I can get the number back so that I can include it in my application? Saying I don't have the number is not an option as UKVI already have it on their record.

Patiently waiting for May 7th, Labour party all the way. I no trust the conservative party at all, looking at some of their recent policies. UKIP have a great manifesto, but they don't really stand chance, no need to waste my vote on them grin

My brother, I have used train in the UK, nothing really spectacular about them. From the pics I see here, this is a great progress. Let's give credit when it is due, irrespective of the side we are in the political divide. Shalom.

Pls, how best can I move my fund from GTB into my Barclays account. I supposed I could use my master card at the POS to do that. But the lady I meet at the bank says they can only give me swift code and then I have to contact GTB to effect the transfer. Cc: SpikesC, DonOms.
