It is better we all put Kemi Badenoch and her negative views of us to shame by focusing on how to better our nation and people than joining issues with a politician we know is acting out an ambitious script which is to become Prime Minister of the UK by showing absolute loyalty to the British empire.

In Kemi's eyes, nothing proves this loyalty more than by showing she can be negatively and scathingly critical of her own nation of origin in promoting the interest of the UK. By showing detachment and disdain for Nigeria, her nation of birth and origin, she is showing unwavering loyalty for the UK. At least that is her reasoning.

Smart Nigerians, bar Igbos who will wish to use her to attack Yorubas, know not to pay her attention because the way to truly shame her is to focus unitedly and productively on making Nigeria better.

Even as I am Yoruba, I don't particularly like Kemi. I don't hate her either because I know she is doing what she feels she has to do. Her rise to become leader of the Conservative Party is commendable but it is her actions, such as showing absolute loyalty to the UK, that got her there.

Challenge you're leaders to show same loyalty to Nigeria instead of focusing on Kemi's negative words about us. Atiku lives in Dubai and arrives in Nigeria election year. Buhari loves people from Niger Republic more than Nigerians. Obiano relocated to the USA soon as his tenure was over. Loads of Nigerian leader, from every ethnic group to include my own, educate and raise their children abroad. It is therefore laughable to be focused on Kemi because of bruised ego over her attack against us. Her attacks are verbal.

Your own leaders attacks are physical and directly damaging to the extent of perpetuating generational poverty most families are stuck in. Focus on that.

I bet OP is Igbo. If he is then end of story as it is obvious this is their usual obsession with demonising Yorubas and anything/anyone affiliated with them. As the SisterAnn poster said, Kemi Badenoch has never led Nigerian and does not deserve the malevolence of Nigerians who should face their leaders.

She is a political leader in her Country the UK and Nigerians should learn to respect boundaries because we are the worst at doing that in the world. Igbo man will wake up daily in Abia to be more concerned about occurrences in Lagos rather than his directly misruling local government chairman making hiss life hell.

Kemi may be of Yoruba origin but how she plays her politics has to be British to get to the top there. I am not particularly enamoured with Kemi Badenoch but I don't judge her as she does not directly affect my life in Nigeria. It is her British folks who should judge her politically. Not Nigerians and especially not Igbos always desperately looking for everything and anything to present the Yorubas, before the world, as "horrible".

He is not identified as one and he does not present as one. If Trump's parents were Nigerians, you all will call him Nigerian and say he is running from his roots. White Americans don't do that. This is the problem with identifying people by their lineage instead of the environment in which they were raised and the place they identify with.

No one ever tells Donald Trump to show allegiance or even acknowledge Scotland and Germany , even though his parents are from these countries. To be specific, his mother was born and raised in Scotland while his dad's parents were immigrants from Germany.

Hugh Jackman's parents were English, but most people don't even know that. He is as Australian as can be. Helen Mirren's father was Russian. This happens to be so because whites tend to identify with the country they were born in. I have a friend here in the States who has full Igbo names. He was born and raised in California. Even his parents were also born and raised in the US, but his grandparents came to America in the 50s. He has never been to Nigeria before; doesn't speak a word of Igbo. Looks and sounds 100% like a Black American, but not only do so many of my fellow Nigerian friends insist on calling him Nigerian, they accuse him of abandoning his roots. LOL. Does that make sense?

I have Edo friends who do not speak any Edo language but are fluent in the Yoruba language because of where they grew up. We need to rethink this idea of tribe and lineage.

In the US, you will see a situation like this: a child will claim to be from California. His dad will claim to be from Texas while his mother will tell you that she is a native of a New York. Isn't that beautiful? Why should some people be blood-tied to their father's origin when they were not raised in or taught about the culture and language.

Kemi is not Nigerian. She is British. She owes no allegiance to Nigeria because she is serving in a foreign land and therefore cannot be expected to serve two masters. Do not assume someone's culture because of their name. The world is evolving. Let us evolve with it.
