Do they ask for Notarized or Legalized copies of your credentials?
Ofcourse you will need original versions of all your documents

Hi. We havent heard anyone being successful for the 6month blocked account. And most people that try to apply with it are instead told to add money and make it 12month Blocked account. And for 6months it costs about 11million naira, 12months its about 22million naira

Singlefile:
Please house, as a Nigerian, can one confirm to me that I can use 6months block account for my visa application and if yes and it has worked for anyone here, like how much is the 6months in Nigeria currency. So I can start working towards it. Thank you for your quick response

Yes, I did mine through DR-WALTER via Expatrio (instead of buying directly from DR-WALTER). It was more straightforward, I didn’t have to choose between PROVISIT or EduCare24, and you won’t need to pay anything until you activate the policy after you arrive in Germany.
- Just create an Expatrio account and choose the Health Insurance option that includes DR-WALTER (travel/visa insurance).
- Enter your details and set your planned arrival date.
- Expatrio generates the insurance confirmation PDF immediately you can use it for your application and at your interview.
Exactly what i did too. Also helenaa let us know how the interview goes. Especially if the so called "test" is given to you

My friends, please help me with these questions.

I know the work contract is supposed to be part-time at 20 hours per week, but mine is full-time at 38 hours.
The only part of your question i can answer is this part.

- As an Opportunity Card holder, you're permitted to work part-time up to 20 hours per week. This is often referred to as "secondary employment" during your job search stay

- These jobs can be in any field - they don't necessarily have to relate to your specific profession or qualifications.

- The Opportunity Card also explicitly allows for job trials, also known as trial employment, for up to two weeks per employer

- So if you already have an employer that means you have already gotten a full time job and you dont have to work 20hrs a week as long as its related to your field
TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Diceman8: 9:56pm On Sep 06, 2025
From history it should be 1 week preliminary review depending on how fast youre able to do any corrections if any, and for the appointment its said to be about 1 week to find your next date, by this i mean if for example you finish preliminary review on 1st of september the next date for appointment is usually about a week away. And finally the processing time for the visa is about 3 weeks minimum. So in reality youre looking at 1-1.5month from preliminary review to recieving your visa.

Osumare2013:
For those who have recently gotten invite for preliminary, I was wondering what the timeline is from then to when you attend visa interview and then get visa issued.

Hi Everyone,

Please has anyone who started application in May been called, My waiting period changed from 2-6 months to 2-8 weeks around early July and I still haven't gotten my preliminary review invite and my SL expires by October because it was done in April (I understand it's only valid for 6 months).

Not sure what next to do or if to reach out to the embassy
Last update we had was from someone named "victory" about a week ago he said theyre currently in april 18th with the preliminary review. So theyre 100% not done with april yet. May 1st is probably about 2-4weeks away minimum.

Thank you guys(digilexsolution, Diceman8 and Hannaiah) for your candid view points on this platform. It's very crucial to understand both side of the coin, plan and then take a personal decision.

Please, Based on your experience on ground:

1. While outside Germany, What are the most feasible job platforms that stand better chances for Job applicants(e.g IT) from this part of the word?

2. Are there dedicated provisions/agencies/platforms that support opportunity card holders(like they use to have in portugal)?
1. Linkedin and indeed are pretty much the best places you can search from outside germany, but getting a job from outside the country is extremely hard because you either have to stand out with like 10+ years experience and are still young or you have some connection there that can help you. The opportunity card in theory should make it easier to find a job as long as youre in a good job market and have some experience under your belt as it does not require "sponsorship" to start working.

2. Theres a website called chancenkarte jobs thats supposed to be released like months ago but its still not up. https://chancenkarte.com/en/candidates/ you can pre register its at the bottom of this page. "Remember chancenkarte.com is not linked to the german government" so its nothing official

digilexsolution:
I would advise anyone coming on opportunity card to get a job or get as many interview call as possible before coming on an opportunity. It's no joke! Dudes here can't even do menial jobs to survive because they said they don't understand the clause on their visa.. Except say you get other plans..
The whole point of the visa is to search for a job in germany and the german government really doesnt care if you get a job or not as long as youre giving the country your money its a win for them.

Its then up to you the person whos applying to do all the research before you go there.
1. Is the job market for my profession good? Eg is it in ( Tech, medicine) which are good or is it in ( law, business, psychology etc) which are generally bad

2. How big of a deal is knowing german in my profession? Is there alot of international companies that dont prioritize german? For example medicine, nursing, etc require high german knowledge.

3. What city is the best for me? Based on my budget and job market there? What city makes the perfect correlation for that? I see most people picking berlin, which in reality theres too much competition there.

4. How long can i survive in the country with my own money without completely draining my bank account? So ideally you would want to stay minimum 6months to have a chance of getting a job. Can you do that? Would it be better to stay in nigeria for awhile while searching for a job then go to germany if i am getting interviews? Maybe?

5. For the part time 20hrs per week that youre eligible for with the opportunity card. What type of job are you willing to do? This is where i know nigerians have big ego even though theyre struggling lol, are you willing to wash plates? Work in a farm? Clean houses? Etc

These are just some examples i am giving you guys, theres much more that i cant list all of them, i have been to germany for internship and i have been in europe for 6 years, its not easy you have to work hard and plan ahead, germany is also known to be hard to find housing there unless youre willing to pay alot. Anyways guys goodluck, try to think and plan ahead very well because how well you plan on this could be the decider if its a trap or not.

You just keep saying this, where is the evidence? Nothing to back up this claim, so pls calm down.
Yes i dont know why people are spreading info without proof or facts. I honestly think even if they gave any type of test it doesnt matter if you pass or fail its probably just something to keep you busy while theyre checking your documents.

It's getting really slow. I was asked to submit on 7th July and they haven't finished their preliminary review till date. It's frustrating
Well its probably getting slow as expected because of student visa, german government gets very busy around this time as summer is ending and new semester is starting around september, new international students entering the country etc. Its hectic.

May i ask when did you join the waiting list?
TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Diceman8: 1:12pm On Jul 25, 2025
Unless someone confirms this as far as we know its all rumors, so please dont make it seem like its confirmed

Now that everyone going for interview will write short tests, pls anyone who has gone for interview should post all questions here so everyone can prepare, its same as student visa questions so anyone who can get it from the study group can post here ,goodluck to everyone.

1 - 3months based on the inputs on this thread. Were you asked to do it even after doing your interview.
1month only happens when you have an employer to speed up the process, meaning you have a sponsor company

2-3 months is to be expected
TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Diceman8: 3:25pm On Jun 10, 2025
Wow so thats about 2 months and 22days. The wait time is surely getting longer. Those that have submitted in april and may should expect to be called in august or sepetember then 🥲

1. Some people got their testimonial accepted, while others were asked to go and get the certificate. It depends on the VO reviewing your documents. So just go and get it.

2. Your transcript is not needed. Your original degree certificate is the most important document. If you feel like you want to add it, combine them all in one PDF and upload it. 3 of my guys and I did not upload a transcript, just a university degree. We all got approved

3. To get one from the NPC, you need a declaration of age or one from your local government. It cost just 3000. Just do it to avoid back and forth

4. If you're a skilled worker, meaning your degree is on anabin or you did ZAB and it's fully recognized, you don't need your CV or Motivational letter. They won't even collect it on the interview date. Not everyone has the " Additional document" section on their portal, like me, when I applied. So upload it if you like.

Finally, if your name has any form of discrepancy, please do an affidavit and upload it together with your birth certificate
Hello, i am really struggling to get this school report too as they dont even know what it is when i ask for school report lol, is there any other name you call it? Its wayy too similar to the testimonial
