Oga in a hotel I have links with, a terminally sick patients (cancer) was brought to pass the night there as the hospital he was brought to from outside the state rejected him. Unfortunately for the staff the lady that made the payment for 3 nights booked online, if they had come in as walk-in customers they would have been rejected. late at night they carried the sick man to the room. We heared that earlier hours of the next morning the woman and young man who brought the sick man left and returned with an ambulance, they carried the man wrapped in cloth away. They were heard talking to relatives of the man informing them of his demise. The woman who paid for the room said their property was still in the room and that they will soon be back, no one should enter. They did not return, after the expiration of the lodging the room was opened. It was noticed that the flucet was damaged.
So it was adviced that the issue should be incidented at the nearest station. This was 2 days after. Funny thing is that I was with a lawyer that day and after hearing the conversations he adviced to let matter be, that no need to incident it as men in black (MIB) could be funny. Omo, them no hear, they went to MIB. They sent some sent some officers, they checked then went back, guess what, they arrested manager who was not even around when the issue happened, they arrested the cleaners, also the receptionists all women!. The Oga there said he was escalating it to the murder section of the state MIB, howww, whyyyy?? We only informed them of what we noticed in the facility, the names and ID of the guest that booked the room was given etc.
Long and short, Oga said 5m so that he wount transfer the case, cos if they transfer it those innocent ladies can be in detention for months before they are exonerated. How we resolved the issue is another story.
Best thing is to avoid involving those men in black.

However, what the woman and hotel staff did after he died reflects a dysfunctional society.

In a society with probity and competence in officialdom, the lady and the hotel staff would have reported it to the police.

But in 9ja, the police will turn it into milking the "suspects" dry. Or make them rot in jail. They won't do any proper forensic tests. So, people do everything they can to avoid the police.

This is just what I was thinking. People are scared to report cases like this, because they're not confident on how the police will handle the matter.

A friend told me he was going to work one early morning and a car hit someone and speed off. And everybody there ran away, cos they're scared of what the police will do when the arrive .
