The tradition of the white wedding has its roots in the 19th century, primarily popularized by Queen Victoria of England. In 1840, she married Prince Albert wearing a white gown, a departure from the customary colored dresses of the time. Her choice of white symbolized purity and was adorned with Honiton lace, setting a trend that resonated across Europe and America.
Before Queen Victoria's influence, brides wore their best dress, regardless of color, for their wedding day. White was not specifically associated with weddings and could be seen as impractical due to its ease of staining and difficulty in cleaning. However, after Victoria’s wedding, white became the color of choice for brides who wanted to emulate her style and signify elegance and purity.
The white wedding tradition grew alongside the rise of the middle class during the Industrial Revolution. As more people gained access to wealth and consumer goods, they could afford to buy or commission a special dress for the occasion. The white wedding dress became a symbol of social status and fashion consciousness.
In the 20th century, Hollywood further cemented the white wedding's place in popular culture. Films often showcased elaborate white weddings, influencing public perception and aspirations. The tradition was also reinforced by marketing from bridal fashion designers and retailers, promoting the idea that a white gown was essential for a bride.
Today, while many cultures and individuals choose to embrace the white wedding for its historical and aesthetic appeal, others opt for different colors and styles to reflect personal tastes or cultural traditions. Nonetheless, the white wedding remains a prominent and enduring symbol in Western wedding customs.
OpinionOracle: A True Life Story: How Peer Pressure, And Competition Landed Us Here!
It was January, the first chill wind of the year, and in one of its chill nights of last year, our neighbor's gleaming new car rolled into his driveway, triggering a chain reaction of events that would shake our peaceful existence in our quiet street. My wife, ever the catalyst, jolts me awake in the middle of the night. In her words, "Isn't he a man, just like you?" She hisses, eyes narrowed at the driveway next door.
"Does living next door mean you have to breathe the same air, wear the same clothes? Or is buying a car a mandate for all men?" I thought 💭🤔 to myself.
But I know my wife, she's the abitoshaker and the overdo of the neighborhood.
"Is he not a man like you? Or is he better than you? You must show them that you are better than him!" with her voice piercing the cold night.
I angrily hurried back to a forced fake sleep, with a sigh, facing the other side of the bed, a weary gust of resignation, carring the weight of unspoken arguments.
And that's how my domestic peace evaporated, faster than a puddle on a hot day.
Our relentless campaign started, with my wife at the helm, goading me to match our neighbor's every move.
I succumbed to the pressure, purchasing a car against my better judgment. But that was only the beginning.
Three months later, our neighbor acquired a coveted plot of land just some few walks opposite our rented appament, and my wife's fervor reignited. My relentless auctioneer, hammers home the point with each passing day.
"You must do the same!" she insisted, her resolve unyielding. I yielded, buying a piece of land in the same street to placate her.

Gistmedia10: An Italy-based Nigerian man has caused a stir on social media by claiming that his children receive a monthly allowance of one million Naira from the Italian government. The man shared his story in a viral video, highlighting the benefits his family enjoys living in Italy.
"In Italy, the welfare system is exceptional," he said. "My children receive one million Naira every month from the government. This support ensures they have access to quality education and a good standard of living."
This claim has sparked widespread interest and debate among Nigerians. Some praised the Italian welfare system, while others want the Nigerian government to emulate it.
KEVIND: Following recent rights of people in sociopolitical distress and liberation spurred action by the indigenous people of the southeast Nigeria, the United States Department of Justice has paid heed to call by a group, the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE), as an entity for Biafra independence as obtained from the site of the US Justice Department.
In a reacting to the new development, the BRGIE operating in diaspora through his official X handle on Friday, said this is a step in the right direction.
“It was observed that the US Justice Department has assented to documentations requesting the legitimacy of the groups expectations,” states the leader in his official X handle.
“With this welcoming development, I am convinced that a new chapter towards total liberation will be welcomed in Biafra land which precede an affirmation of self rule billed towards the last month of the year, 2024.
“This also affirms that BRGIE is now an officially registered entity with the United States Department of Justice”, he said.
Recall that barely a week ago, the BRGIE insisted that the Declaration of Biafra Independence would restore peace to the West African region

ArlinTv: The Enugu Coal Camp was a place every one wanted to be. But Not anymore. It was a place where economic and social lives boomed in Enugu, the then capital of Eastern Nigeria . The coal camp was deliberately planned and built by the colonial masters to house coal miners. The camp had well trimmed flowers and beautiful lawns, it was the centre of attraction for most Igbo elites. Everyone wanted to live there.. the extremely happy and peaceful life in the Enugu coal camp is even captured in Cyprian Ekwensi’s novel Coal Camp Boy.. It was through this writer, Ekwensi who is , Nigeria’s foremost urban novelist that most people had a peep into the beauty of the coal camp and how the boys who grew up there were feared and respected not only throughout Enugu, even the East and even Nigeria as a country.. In his words “People used to have fun to their fill”, because life started and ended at the coal camp where workers spent money as they liked.”
Well this was years ago. Things have since changed. as the years went by, the coal camp's fortunes began to decline especially as Nigeria government started to focus on other industries like the oil industry .. Join us today as we take you on a trip to coal camp and show you this Enugus neighborhood that will always remain an important part of the states history and identity. And if you are watching this and you happen to grow up In this neighborhood especially during its glory days we would be glad If you would let us know

ogododo: A cross-section of residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says they can no longer fend for their families due to the rising cost of foodstuff.
The residents, who spoke in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja, said that eating beans and yam have become a luxury due to its high cost.
This, they said, had affected their domestic food timetable, making it impossible to eat varieties.
I want people to remember the Emirate as a symbol of dignity and peace —Film maker, Zainab Bayero0:01 / 1:00
Mrs Glory Ocholi, a mother, said that beans have become so expensive that it is difficult to buy in bulk as she usually does to help in her nutrition plan.
“Before now, I used to buy 10 mudus of white beans for between N9, 000 to N10, 000, at N900 to N950 each.
“While the red one was usually slightly above N100 or N200.
“Currently, white beans cost N2,800 while red beans are sold for N3,000 to N3,500 , yam, Irish and sweet potatoes are also very expensive, it is only the rich that can afford them.
“You cannot buy corn or sorghum, vegetables are a no-go area, so at the end of the day, our children are forced to eat whatever we can provide,’’ she said.
Ocholi said that buying foodstuff at a higher cost had forced her to take off meals like ‘akara’ and pap which used to be a Saturday morning meal in her home.
She appealed to both the government and Nigerian Food Products Suppliers and Manufacturers to find ways to address the situation.
Mr Habila Makama, said that he could no longer afford certain foods in his household due to the high prices.

“Sweet potatoes that used to be the cheapest are also expensive. Rice is the only available food now in spite of the cost.
“We eat it every day of the week and probably exchange it with any available swallow with the soup you can afford,’’ he said.
A NAN correspondent who visited the Dutse-Alhaji market reported that five big tubers of yam now go for a negotiable price of N12, 000 to N14, 000.
At Karu market, corn and millet which previously sold for N850 and N900, is now being sold for N1, 300 per mudu.
NAN also reports that a bag of corn which was previously sold for N40, 000 and millet for N65, 000, are now being sold for N90, 000 per bag.
One of the traders in karu market, Mallam Bashiru Ahmed, said that prices of goods fluctuate daily and could increase by 20 per cent or more, within a week.
He said that traders sometimes go to the market to buy a bag of beans for N160, 000, but end up buying for between N180, 000 or N200, 000 due to price fluctuation.
Ahmed attributed the high cost to transportation of the goods from the northern states to the distribution units or towns, where other middle men or traders go to buy from.
“The cost of transportation has contributed to the increase in cost of these foods and it has really affected our business.
“We had to increase the price of grains to meet up with the expenses in logistics, and this is making our customers complain, thereby affecting patronage,’’ he said.
He pleaded with the government to put in place measures that could salvage the cost of transportation and control market price for grains.
This, he said would stop distributors and sellers from inducing unnecessary price increase

olaideoo: [color=#000000] Ever wondered what it’s like to confront a scammer face-to-face? Well, today white expose a group of scammers from Abuja, Nigeria. These scammers impersonate celebrities like Scammer Payback and Trilogy Media to trick victims into recovery scams. They promise to recover lost funds, but it's all a ruse to extract more money, often demanding Bitcoin or gift cards.
Through some clever hacking and social engineering, these white men managed to infiltrate their systems and gather irrefutable evidence of their scams. Seeing them live, indulging in their ill-gotten gains, from luxury items to lavish lifestyles. Despite their deceit, they were caught on a webcam.
Stay tuned for the full story and watch how they were taken down these one by one. [/color]
Video Transcript: [b] this is a group of scammers who I'll be exposing today by showing them their own webcam three 2 one look at your face your little scamming face I'm going to send the police to your house yeah cover the webcam watch how he hacked into these scammers and how he stopped their scum operation the scammer that you currently see on screen is based out of the city Abuja in Nigeria West Africa the type of scams they run is a fake celebrity scam also known as a celebrity impersonator however these scammers don't just impersonate anybody they impersonate my friends scammer payback and Trilogy media who are friends and fellow scamers that fight against scammers we spoke a couple of months ago about this idea as we re realized most of the victims were already victims of scams who just needed some help the types of messages they post are like this text me on telegram the trilogy team asking people to reach out for assistance or they message you like this hello we are scammers payback support we help people to recover all lost funds and hacking problem let us know if you have such problem okay it is easy for a victim to F for these type of recovery scams as they really want their money back that they lost scammers will use tactics such as an increase of followers or making a slight name change to trick the victim but silly enough I've seen these scammers slip up when they forget to change their account location and then I Juran phone number on the account so I started collecting a bunch of these accounts and investigating the conversation initially starts like this they will tell you that they can recover all your funds and that you will need to submit evidence that you actually a victim following up by explaining you will need to purchase an activation code for a recovery software that will be bought of the dark web when asked for the name of this recovery software they gave me a random software name with a simple Google search of these softwares it was clear that this recovery software was nothing but a scam then they followed up by saying there was a price for this software and each of them gave a different number for the price they wanted to charge I came to the conclusion if you were scammed out of $2,000 the scammer would take 10% and charge you $200 for the software but if you were scammed for $500 the scammer would only charge you $50 for this fake recovery software some of them even sent a third-party Instagram page that was apparently a recovery expert that they said would help me out however this is where the main part of the scam takes place as they will send you to the local Bitcoin ATM to send them Bitcoin or buy gift cards when I asked chat GPT if it's a scam to sendor on money asking to help recover my funds they said yes it almost certainly is and specifically for the following reasons down below after some social engineering skills I was able to get onto some of these scammers and investigate who they were special thanks to nanoa and Dan who helped with their assistance their channels will be linked down below I came to realize that these scammers weren't just doing the fake celebrity scams but they were doing multiple different scams as well such as this scammer who was doing romance scams as well as this other scammer pretending to be Trilogy media who's doing fake IRS tax return scams scamming people out of thousands of dollars whilst having access to these scammers we were able to see many things on their Compu computer systems including personal files and documents on these specific files I was able to see clear proof that these individuals were in fact scamming as I saw victims sending them checks hundreds of gift cards and even Bitcoin transactions which amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars we were able to trace back some of these wallets and even locate where some of these funds had gone into all this information would then be passed onto law enforcement inside their telegram accounts I was able to see all the chats they were having with their victims in which I reached out to these victims letting them know what was going on their telegram accounts also gave another crucial piece of evidence which confirmed their location as all of these devices were all logged in from Abuja Nigeria Africa I realized that these scammers were not living in the poor parts of Nigeria but on the contrary they were living in the built and Wealthy Parts in Nigeria we found many personal pictures on the computer with friends with family and even clear images of the scammer that would later confirm that we had access to the right person scamming such as this scammer who was pretending to be Trilogy media just take a look and tell me it's not the same person these scammers enjoyed splashing their cash on luxury designer items with the scam money that they had scammed for my investigation would be centered on this individual who was doing the romance scam and he had done some questionable things that I've seen he kept his romance scam script in his email in which he would just copy and paste each line into a new victim and try scam them out of money taking a look at his scam script there were some very interesting things in there that was said such as that he was fighting in Syria he had light gray hair and blue eyes which he clearly didn't have and also that he enjoyed traveling going to the beach and camping however I was surprised that he didn't include scamming in here another thing that I watched him do was save the images of the people that he was impersonating for his romance scams and I also watched as he changed profile every now and then funny enough the scammer had also done his homework and his research on the people he was impersonating to make sure what he said was never wrong when speaking to the victims I had also watched as he would go online and download identity cards which he would then go on to edit and tweak around to commit identity fraud and use someone else's identity it was nasty watching him spent hours picking his nose but it was funny seeing him try to sing [Music] check out these dance moves that he decided to do it was obvious that this scammer was up to no good however some days I did hear him speaking to his girlfriend and talking about their love life and how they could improve it hello baby this scammer was a wannabe gangster as I saw him sagging his pants drinking and smoking at the exact times when he wasn't doing any scams I even saw this scammer starting to pray when he received this message from an elderly lady victim these people were morally evil listen closely to what you're about to hear them talk about [Music] Bo house for I this give Herer you heard it correct they were just speaking about another victim from someone in the background who they have made sell their whole house in regards to a scam this is when I knew these people were evil-minded and that we had to stop all of them I'd also seen the people in the background come to the computer but there was no proof that they were also scamming apart from this one individual who was teaching how to hack Facebook accounts luckily I was able to report all of these Facebook accounts and my friend who works at meta removed them all in less than 4 hours I also submitted a detailed police reports to the efcc in Nigeria who are the equivalent of the cyber crime police force including the name location and proof of scams hopefully they take action on this group of scammers and now it was time for me to expose them it was going to be hard as these scammers never enjoyed getting on a phone call so the only way I could get them on a phone call was acting as the victims of one of these scams I was going to act as an old lady who just made a payment to him and I wanted to give him the surprise however the only surprise he was going to receive was me showing him his own face on his computer and confronting him about his [Music] scams hello can you hear me are you on your computer yet okay why don't you send me the L of the wallet can you hear me I'm on my computer I'm on my computer now I'm HardMirror: Obidients campaigned using the slogan " Yoruba Muslim" to oppose the Yoruba. Yet a lot of Yorubas did not vote Tinubu.
Tinubu lost Osun state, a state with LOTS of Yoruba Muslims. Anytime Obidients want to insult a Yoruba person, they will say he is from Osun state forgetting that Tinubu lost Osun state.
Eedris who is a Yoruba Muslim is speaking against Tinubu. Yet obidients would have the audacity to call other people tribalists. They will call others religious bigots.
My advice is you guys should stop hating on Yorubas, lot of Yorubas supported Obi. All the Yoruba I know in Lagos that were youths supported Peter Obi.
Hating on Yorubas and thinking we all supported tinubu is stupidity.
I am Yoruba and have never liked or supported Tinubu.
Stop the stupidity
Can any of you remember that Eedris is a YORUBA MUSLIM NOW?
if yoruba Muslims actually voted obi, then it must be more of the core Hausa and ikwerre people that voted tinubu because of their religion and 'igbo-hate or envy' in most or some parts of Rivers state; mixed with some parts of yorubas too
gidgiddy: When you Google the 3 larget tribes in Africa, you get Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. Each of them over 40 million strong, more than the population of most countries of the world, Ghana is just 28 million people. To find all three tribes in one country was a recipe for disaster
You can't have two captains in one ship, let alone three. And so the story of Nigeria with these three tribes has been one of suspicion, betrayal, tribalism, killings, civil wars and eternal political fighting. This won't end any time soon.
The three largest tribes in Africa, together in one country? Two would have been very difficult, three was going to be a certain disaster.
the white men did this to destabilize Africa; the blacks...
BigkokoRep: When the news first broke out, that former CBN gov orchestrated a heist using fake documents from presidency...i laughed! Is it the presidency that Emefiele has direct contact with or another presidency of the Ronu's dream? before you can spell Jack Robinson, the legendary cowards were all over the airwaves saying how Emefiele looted the CBN. Jim was hurriedly commissioned to find or create evidences where there is none that would nail the former governor. Jim however found none and communicated to the vindictive cl*wns. Soon after JIm was unceremonially decommissioned, and even accused of looting official vehicles.....what a vseless bunch of ediats. I do not hold brief for Emeifele but I so much love his agricultural Intervention policies that favored a lot, like a lot of abokis and lots of Ronus and fewer persons from his Western Igbos, SS and SE. We all knew how Adamu and Bola got huge grants.
Now we it we all know and it's becoming clear that Asiwaju in a bid to get even with Emefiele whom he thought organized a policy that seems to favor transparent election and scaled down kidnapping, prior to 2023 elections, wants to get Emefiele by all means. carefully read the following investigations carried out by Asiwaju EFcc and Jim, you will quickly find out that No Where, I repeat, No where was Emefiele mentioned in any of these!
So I asked, are these Ronus that supports anything that comes from the stable of Asiwaju normal at all? I do not like Emefiele, just like I do not like any sycophant, but because I do not like Emefiele, reasons enough to assasinate his image, an image he built for more than 30 years....yes, while Asiwaju was running the streets of Chicago doing what US States & Justice Dept says he did, a pitiable front for dug dealers!

Documentation has exposed how the $6,230,000 in cash, allegedly taken from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on February 8, 2023, was divided.
A special presidential investigative team, headed by Jim Obaze, which examined the tenure of former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, claimed that the $6.2 million was taken from the central bank’s vault under the pretense of paying election observers.
In court documents obtained by The Nation, investigators described the theft as an insider job, allegedly orchestrated primarily by CBN officials in collusion with two outsiders, identified as Adamu Abubakar and Imam Abubakar.
According to the documents, investigators alleged that Odoh Eric Ocheme, a personal assistant to Emefiele during his tenure as CBN Governor, received $3,730,000 from the funds, while the remaining $2,500,000 was divided among three other individuals.
Ocheme allegedly claimed that he needed to settle other interests within the central bank, which is why he received the majority share.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Emefiele with complicity in the theft in a 20-count amended indictment filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), charges to which he has pleaded not guilty.
However, during a hearing in the case, a Deputy Director and Head of the Service Delivery Division of the CBN, Michael Onyeka Ogbu, confirmed the cash withdrawal from the apex bank’s Abuja branch, where he was in charge.
Testifying in the case on February 12, Ogbu stated that he authorized the payment after being convinced that it was approved by the relevant authorities.
Ogbu recalled that on February 8, 2023, there was a payment request addressed to the Abuja Branch Controller, a position he held at the time.
He said: “On that day the request for the payment of $6,230,000 was received in my office by my Office Assistant, who brought it to my attention.
“When I received the document, I found that it is from Banking Services Department.
“The Director, Banking Services signed the memo, and the content of the memo contained an instruction for the Branch Controller to pay the sum of $6,230,000 to a staff of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation , with the identity and the name of the person mentioned.
“The memo said the payment was for international election observers and that we should debit an account – Naira Forex Account – with the naira equivalent of $6,230,000.
“The memo also said that the money will be refunded in the second quarter of 2023 by the Federal Ministry of Finance. It went on to say ‘find attached the approval of the governor of the CBN for the payment.’
“The attachment had the approval of the governor of the CBN. It also had the approval of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the request letter from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.”
Ogbu stated that after reviewing the documents and finding them satisfactory, he forwarded them to the Head of Business Services Unit for processing and payment.
On whether the money was eventually released, Ogbu said: “Payment was eventually made. The $6,230,000 was paid on the 8th of February 2023. The payment was in cash.”
According to court documents, it was revealed that certain beneficiaries invested their portion of the loot, valued at around ₦1.4 billion, in real estate, of which a portion has been reclaimed.
An affidavit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja by a Deputy Superintendent of Police provided details of the investigators’ findings and the progress made so far in connection with an extradition charge against Adamu Abubakar, Imam Abubakar, and Odoh Eric Ocheme.
Adamu Abubakar, Imam Abubakar, and Ocheme are reportedly at large and believed to have fled the country, prompting extradition proceedings against them before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police said: “We commenced investigation into the case and obtained copies of the withdrawal slip as well as the accompanying documents, Central Bank of Nigeria memos, dated 07/02/2023 and 31/01/2023 respectively, staff identity card of one Jibril Abubakar, letter dated 2/01/2023 purportedly written by Muhammadu Buhari to Boss Mustapha and letter dated 20/01/2023 purportedly written by Boss Mustapha to Mr Godwin Emafiele, which the Central Bank of Nigeria, Abuja Branch relied on in making the payment.
“Investigation at the office of the President as well as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in the Stale House revealed that the letters purportedly written by Muhammadu Buhari and for Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha did not emanate from the offices respectively, while Jibril Abubakar, whose identity card was used to cash the money in question is not a staff of the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“We watched the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footages of the 08/02/2023 being the day the money in question was cashed, and the payee (Jibril Abubakar) could not be identified by the staff of either the CBN or that of the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, where he falsely represented himself to be working.
“A further study of the Closed-circuit Television (CCTV) footage revealed that a staff of the Abuja Branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria, identified as Abdulmajeed Muhammad received the impostor (Jibril Abubakar) at the gate of the bank when he arrived on the fateful date: 08/02/2023.
“Abdulmajeed Muhammad was consequently arrested and in his statement made on 15/12/2023, he admitted helping the impostor into the Abuja Branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria, but claimed that he did that innocently, the impostor having been referred to him by Bashirudeen Maishanu; a Senior Staff of the CBN.
“Abdulmajeed Muhammad further revealed that prior to 08/02/2023 when the impostor came to cash the money in question, he (Abdulmajeed Muhammad) had been invited by Bashirudeen Maishanu to explain the procedure of public officials making cash withdrawal from the CBN as those persons claimed to be officials from the office of the SGF and that the then president had approved certain fund for official assignment.
“We visited Kuje Correctional Centre, where we interviewed Godwin Emefiele, who purportedly approved the memos authorising the payment, as then CBN and he denied seeing, talk less of approving such memos.
“We also arrested some concerned staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, who denied any involvement in the crime, before we finally arrested Bashirudeen Maishanu, who corroborated the account of Abdulmajeed Muhammad and further confessed to have been involved in the crime which, according to him was perpetrated by himself and the first to third defendants/respondents – Adamu Abubakar, Imam Abubakar and Odoh Eric Ocheme.
“Bashiru Maishanu further confessed that himself, the first and second defendants/respondents (Adamu Abubakar and Imam Abubakar) shared the sum of $2,500,000.00 from the stolen money, while the third defendant/respondent (Odoh Eric Ocheme), being a fellow staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, kept the balance of $3,730,000.00 claiming that he had other interests to settle in the CBN.
“Bashirudeen Maishanu further confessed that both himself, and the first and second defendants/respondents jointly invested the United States dollars equivalent of the sum of ₦1, 440,000,000.00 into real estate business of Afrolyk Global Ltd.
“The Managing Director of the said Afrolyk Ltd, Aminu Lawal has been arrested and he confirmed the investment by Bashirudeen Maishanu, Adamu Abubakar and Imam Abubakar, and already refunded the sum of $200 000 00 to the Special Investigator’s team as part of the money he (Aminu Lawal) received as part of the purported investment.
“Cash of about $400,000 00 has also been voluntarily returned by Bashiru Maishanu from part of his remaining share of the money in question.
“The money (the $6,230,000) was received in cash from the Central Bank at Nigeria and also shared in the same cash by the defendants/respondents and others, making it difficult to trace the monies without arresting the defendants/respondents.
“It was later revealed that the third defendant – Odoh Eric Ocheme – was the Personal Assistant to Godwin Emefiele as the CBN governor while the first and second defendants (Adamu Abubakar and Imam Abubakar) are businessmen and associates of Bashirudeen Maishanu.”
I'm not saying this because I'm Igbo or from any particular region, but I think Nigeria is to huge (and diverse) for one government, let's embrace regional government and I think this country would become 'better than this'
