Prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, narrowly escaped death when a bus conveying them to orientation camps in the North rammed into a stationary tanker.

The incident occurred at about 10:41pm on Wednesday, at Ohono village, along the Lokoja Expressway.

Details of the incident are still sketchy, however, it was revealed that the bus belonging to the Akwa Ibom Transport Company, AKTC, rammed into the stationary tanker truck.

A final year student of Hospitality Management of the Kaduna Polytechnic, identified as Faith Favour, has been reported dead after her signing-out celebration.

Faith had shared a photo of herself and coursemates from their signing out celebration two weeks ago.

One of her coursemates, Mhister Isaac disclosed the sad news on Facebook on Monday, August 30 but didn’t give details.

Report gathered that, Governor Aminu Masari has banned the transportation of cattle from Katsina to other states in the country.

Masari issued an executive order to that effect and also ordered the total closure of the Jibia-Gurbin Baure road to motorists.

Kankara-Sheme road has also been closed to commercial vehicles. Masari who said the order will become effective from today August 31, said they are all measures are to contain the security challenges bedevilling the state.

There is also a ban on motorcycles carrying three people and tricycles carrying more than 3 people.

A heavily pregnant woman has been found floating in Lake Michigan after being stabbed to death.

Police with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that the body is that of 19-year-old Yarianna Wheeler, a missing Chicago woman who was between six to nine months pregnant.

Authorities confirmed that Yarianna had sustained several “sharp force” injuries to her body, and her death is being treated as a homicide. However, a full post-mortem examination to determine her official cause of death is still pending.

The announcement comes almost one week after Wheeler’s body was found floating in the water, where it had reportedly been for between seven and 12 days.

Her body was found by a fisherman on the lake at around 3pm on August 15, who immediately informed the authorities, according to local media.
