Stop arguing his decision dilliond89: Many Lagosians know the city as Nigeria’s commercial capital today, but few know the king whose signature changed its destiny forever.
In 1861, during a tense standoff with the British, the Oba of Lagos made a decision that turned Lagos into a British colony. This move still sparks debate over 160 years later — was it an act of wisdom to save his people, or a surrender that cost Lagos its freedom?
One thing is certain: this king’s choice opened the door to a new chapter in Nigeria’s history.
I’ve written the full story here, including:
Why the British wanted Lagos so badly
What led to the shocking treaty
What happened to the king after signing it

We need Inikpi of our time dilliond89: Who Was Inikpi?
Inikpi was the beloved daughter of Attah Ayegba Om’Idoko, the ruler of the Igala Kingdom in present-day Kogi State, Nigeria. She is remembered as a heroine whose selfless sacrifice saved her people from destruction. Her story is one of courage, loyalty, and love for her kingdom.
Many centuries ago, the Igala Kingdom faced a deadly war against the powerful Benin Kingdom. The Igala army was struggling, and famine spread across the land. The Attah (king) sought guidance from the gods through an oracle.
The oracle delivered a painful prophecy:
The Igala Kingdom would only survive if the king sacrificed his most beloved child.
Attah Ayegba was devastated. He loved Inikpi deeply and could not imagine losing her. But when she i learned of the prophecy, she made a decision that would change history forever.

Story that Shock me even till date 9jatruecrime: In the mid-1990s, Imo State, Nigeria, witnessed one of its darkest crime stories , the Otokoto ritual killings. This tragic case was not just about a gruesome murder; it exposed how ritual practices, corruption, and greed had deeply rooted themselves in society. The events shook Owerri and left a lasting scar on Nigeria’s history.
The Otokoto ritual killings took place in September 1996 when 11-year-old Anthony Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, a groundnut seller, was lured into the Otokoto Hotel in Owerri. He was promised business opportunities but instead met a horrifying death.
Check source for full story and how it ended. His head was severed, and his body buried , part of a ritual killing meant to use human parts for wealth. The Otokoto Hotel was owned by Vincent Duru, a wealthy businessman with strong political connections. The killing was carried out by one of his staff, Innocent Ekeanyanwu, who was arrested while transporting the boy’s head in a polythene bag. |
