FoodRe: Drinking Garri: When Was The Last Time You Had This? (Picture) by Discountsempai: 8:56pm On Jun 16
Mariangeles:
When was the last time you drank garri?

For me, it's been long, I won't even lie.
I keep telling myself that I'll drink soon, plus, I need the picture in my food photos collection, because you know, garri is a classic.

Do you remember the last time you drank garri? Kindly tell us in the comments.

Let's keep our comments respectful, thank you.
Probably last had it in 2004 or thereabouts. Haven't had it since then. (Honestly when one grows older, the things you used to enjoy before become useless later. I now understand why the older people i knew as a child were not excited about snacks and so forth as i was).

PS...Was visiting my parents for some days last year, and my mother said that she really felt like drinking garri (now my mother has been reducing carb intake over the years, and had cut out garri a long time ago).

I went out and bought some drinking garri for her. My mother thanked me, but she said that she won't take it since she still wanted to keep on not taking garri, despite her desires (she gave out the garri later on).

Even, his mum is half Thai, half Chinese.

He could pass as black or Thai.

This dude is mixed. Likely has a Japanese father or mother.
Japanese mother, Ghanaian father.

Uses his mother's surname both professionally and personally.

(Not the first footballer to do that, Ryan Giggs uses his mother's surname, not his father's surname of Wilson).

So pls na hin Ghanian father dey bear Suzuki? I ne er knew Ghana bears Suzuki.

But the boy is a very good goalkeeper.
NO, it's his mother's name

As the article says, he used his mother's name for citizenship registration purposes...as it goes easier when you got a japanese sounding name.

Naomi Osaka , the tennis player, did something similar.

This is the first time a black will represent an Oriental country.
Depends...players of black descent have represented Japan before in the past. eg Alessandro Santos at the 2006 world cup.

Also at junior level, black players have represented Japan. The Japan U23 team to the last olympics had two black players.,,Joel Chima Fujita(Also the captain of the team) and Leo Kokubo who are both half-Nigerians.

Suzuki first played for Japan at U17 world cup in 2019. (Been following him since then).
SportsRe: Zion Suzuki: The Black Goalkeeper Representing Japan by Discountsempai: 9:15pm On Jun 15
Another reason for bearing suzuki as his surname

In Japan, if a family has only girls, the men they marry might take on the wife's family name and pass it on to the children so that the family line does not die out.

(Just one of many reasons, I still prefer the one given in the article)

Unah no fit use computer dey view all these things?
1. The best we got is a computer controlled probe...which still needs to be inserted into the anus.
2. Probably (I no dey joke) in say 100 years time, it may be possible to just wave a hand held machine over a patient and get a complete realistic AI generated model of the patient's anus and other internal organs (Something like we see on Star trek if you have watched the show)...till then, ...
3. And even if we was able to diagnose with just history, at some point, they got to look inside the anus..especially if a proceedure like tying the hemmorhoids (in the OP case) got to be done.
4. At least for prostate examination, a simple ultrasound scan has reduced the need for prostate examination via recto-anal . (But where you don't have that, then in goes the hand).

So why do we do anal examinations

1. TO rule out things like anal cacer
2,To rule out things like prostate cancer
3. To see if the haemmorhoid is external or internal
4. To rule out anal infections
5. To rule out injury to the anus
6 To rule out rectal cancer
7. Etc, etc.

Of what use is this game now?
Preparation for the next world cup qualifiers has started. It's the way with athletes. Eg...once one tournament has finished, prep for the next one starts almost immediately.

Also, playing matches like these helps with seeding for the draws for the qualifying round. The more points you get, the more advantageous your seeding becomes...for qualifiers, if you do not want Nigeria to end in a group with Egypt, Senegal, Algeria, and so forth....the higher your seeding, the more favorable your placing in draws and the likes.

Yes, and some of the privacy invaders would be people of unsavoury types

More thoughts on Hypergamy:

Marriage to a man in your tax bracket or higher eliminates some of the stress in marriage. Like it is said, a man will always drag a woman to his level; that drag might be upwards or downwards.

I am sure we have all heard stories where the wife wants to subsidise rent, school fees, food and other things (where the husband believes his manhood is tied to sole provision) and it causes a fight? The wife can afford a 3 bedroom flat; Odiegwu wants them to stay in one room so that people will not say it is his wife that is housing him. Visiting a man in one room as a lady living in 3 bed for a weekend might be a kink; moving into a one bedroom after marriage is horror. And any other lifestyle downgrade.

A colleague from service year (male) used to chuckle when I spoke about love. He said ' a rich man hates you but he gets a maid for you, buys a car for you, doesn't require you to do some chores' aka makes your life easy.

Some guys here on NL say washing machine is for lazy women. Imagine a woman above a certain tax bracket marrying such. Whilst her company expects her to use her time well for more meaningful tasks (there is a reason organizations provide certain welfare packages at certain levels), she is washing clothes by hand because her horseband thinks washing machines and blenders are lazy in 2026.

Interestingly, a woman wants to pull a man up so she is handing over contracts to him, giving him the car to drive, changing his wardrobe and packaging him as the 'man'.

Imagine a richer man wants to get a car or a cook or a bigger house or a washing man and the lower income wife says 'it is too small' or stops the purchase.

Until the dynamics of marriage changes, a woman who doesn't want to spend her life shalaying, massaging egos, or reducing herself to accommodate a man should better marry her tax bracket and higher.

God forbid she adds the stress of marrying below her tax bracket to the stress of marrying a man.

And if they are both poor, he has the capacity for growth so that when they/she blows, he is not insisting on grinding stone pepper.
LOL...at washing machine is for lazy women

The thing is, it is not all the clothes we wear that should be washed by hand, some need to be washed in a washing machine.

The reason why many second had clothes that are imported from abroad look 'very new' is because they were washed in a washing machine based on the clothes label instruction which means that they last longer per wash. Doing it with hand only makes them deteriorate faster.

Perhaps when men realize that washing machine = less money spent on buying clothes, dem go reason am

All the advanced countries appear depressed.
Is opium an antidepressant?
IN Nigeria, the default is everyone be sociable. You cannot step out of your house without having someone greet you. Low finances means that people live in community style residences so to speak. And talking a lot to people na good anti-depressant.

Abroad? People keep themselves to themselves. Unless you join a church or a group of people that share a hobby, or you force yourself to make friends, you do dey by yourself. Loneliness...soil for depression.

Opium can worsen depression o.

Nigeria and Africans arent as depressed as these advanced countries. Stuff happens. Yet we are flocking to their countries due to hardship here. Funny world.
Pscyhiatric issues are stigmatized here. If someone wants to get married, and they find out by chance that someone in the bride or bridegroom family is taking antidepressants or has been admitted to psych ward for depression, that can shut down the marriage fast.

A lot of Nigerians suffer in silence because stigma.
HealthRe: Why Are We Getting New Viruses Every 6 Years? by Discountsempai: 12:51pm On May 10
richmond500:
2014 was Ebola virus
2020 was covid19
2026 is hantavirus

What are we to expect in 2032?
1. Ebola virus was discovered in the mid 1970's
2. Covid is a realitively new mutation of an old virus
3. Hantavirus has been discovered decades ago..1978, and it is spread by close contact and by rats.

OK, what's changed is ease of travelling.

Ebola has always been there, infact if was first described centuries ago...by the Greeks. Hantavirus was discovered in 1978, and covid is a relatively new mutaiton (viruses easily mutate).

The thing is there are two things happening

1. Media reportage has gotten much better over the years...eg the ship with hantavirus , was immediately reported at the speed of light. Before the internet it would have taken a long time

2. Ease of travelling. Ebola and other viruses including Lassa have always been there, the problem was how people travelled. Over a hundred years ago, most people walked. The fastest way one could go was by horse, which could travel as fast as 100 miles a day. (Today, your car can do that in one to two hours self).

When colonialism and modernity came around, it meant that people could easily travel, and thus could move around with ease.

NOw for hantavirus...for one to catch it, there has to be close contact with exchange of bodily fluids. Now (wink wink) many cruise ships are known to be places where people get carried away, if you catch my drift, hence the current epidemic. But it is difficult to spread unlike covid, and the WHO is sure they have isolated the spread at one spot.

Plus they know how to deal with the virus...eight weeks quarantine, and if you are not sick after, you don't have it or carry it.

See the way so many of you guys on this tread are just commenting ignorantly.
Why don’t you all urge more ladies to go into obstetrics and gynecology instead of making noise that a man will not touch your woman bla bla bla.
There’s no field in medicine that is gender specific.
When it comes to a matter of life and death you will not even care the sex of whoever is handling that your woman.
Have you bothered to ask yourself why women are avoiding this aspect of medicine.
Do you think as women are avoiding this field and there were no men in the same field, pregnant ladies would have survived what they are surviving.
Because the person who created the tread has an issue with a male gynecologist, it is not a yardstick to slander the men who are in the field.
Go to hospitals and find out the number of women in this particular field you will find out they are very few.
Come back and drop your findings before making noise.
I went to a medical school that had special prizes for best female student in one and gynaecology . The girl that won in my year , when I asked her how far for primaries exam for o and g, she told me she was reading community medicine so that she could have time for her future children upbringing, that o and g was too stressful and time consuming.
