Opportuneke: Without being biased, Actually, this is a milestone achievement and will also set Nigeria on a beautiful pedestal at the international level.
Not everything should be politics, we should try as much as possible to acknowledge some vital positive changes and achievements in the Nigeria, it should just always be the negative reports all the time.
Our judges can now preside over international cases at some level, even at the ICC. Meaning they will be licensed to handle sensitive international legal cases.
Congratulations to Nigeria on this. 🙌🏻 How many corrupt politicians has the court found guilty. But the same corrupt politicians that our court exonerate is the same politicians that other courts in sane clime imprisoned. Our judges are for the highest bidders. |

nairalanda1: Borrowing is increasing because our economy is based on oil price. That's why i was hoping apc would lose in 2023, because they promised diversification and did not deliver.
But to expand more, removing subsidy was basically to reduce the amount of money that we were spending on debt servicing. But if we want to reduce borrowing we have to widen the tax base ( which i would reluctantly accept that tinubu is trying to do) and diversify the economy ( which he is failing at big time ) and go to an economy based on manufacturing ( which no Nigerian government has achieved).
To stop borrowing we need to do the above or we need to hope oil prices go above our fiscal break even. That means oil at 150 dollars per barrel. On a sustained basis ( and to digress a bit that is why GEJ borrowed because even at 120 dollars per barrel , it still was not generating enough revenue at all)
The hope is that the opposition comes up with a plan for diversification and improved industrial production so as to win in 2027. You have this belief that PO can't perform as a president because all you are saying is freeing more funds to run the government. If you listened to PO during the electoral process with an opened mind you'd figure that he was all about FREEING FUNDS to service our already suffocating loans. How much can you generate from subsidy and taxation? Even if you get enough a corrupt government will still loot all those money as we are witnessing in tinubu's government. Do you know the trillions of naira in dollars equivalents is looted from Nigeria coffer! Reduce waste in governance, fight corruption to a standstill, produce! produce! produce! When the economy is kinda stable then you can remove subsidy and expand your tax base. These will have little or no adverse effect on the people. By removing subsidy and taxing nigerians to stupor is tinubu taking the easy but inhumane route. |
