I told the dude you replied that in December 1989, the United States troops invaded Panama to arrest General Manuel Antonio Noriega of Panama for having ties to drug trafficking in several countries including the United States. As of January 1990 he eventually surrendered and was flown to the United States for trial. The United States doesn't spare drug barons. If Tinubu was found to be one, he would have been thrown into jail. NO doubt, a lot of Nigerian Diaspora folks try to be careful about who they relate with BECAUSE you NEVER know who is into criminal activities or NOT. This is the situation Tinubu found himself in and many others. NGOs, Pastors and other religious bodies for instance get donations from people from time to time. Therefore, it would be WRONG to assume that because a drug baron or drug trafficker made donations to a religious organization, then it means that religious organization OR NGO is part of the drug trafficking cartel. After due investigations, the innocent ones would be exonerated, and that's what happened to Tinubu.

Tinubu himself has caused a lot of these defamations to persist by NOT taking swift legal action like others have done to mitigate the damage these guys are relentlessly causing to his image for over 10 years now.

This is why I commend the iconic octogenarian, Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, for quickly initiating the move to have Dele Farotimi brought to justice for the HIGHLY toxic and incendiary defamations contained in his so-called self-published book. I read Chief Afe Babalola's side of the story yesterday and I was stunned by the CLEARLY defamatory choice of words used by Dele in that book which were clearly intended to lower Afe Babalola and his Magodo GRA-based law chamber into disrepute. Babalola has ALSO CLEARLY called for a withdrawal of all the books in circulation by Farotimi. He's definitely gonna be the loser at the end of the day because what he thinks he will make from the book sales will definitely go back to paying massive damages to Afe Babalola. Unknown to some of the posters here, Afe Babalola supported the candidate of the Labor party so, the joke is on these dudes who have been attacking the respected octogenarian.

Dele Farotimi (and his gang of propagandists friends such as Omoyele Sowore, and those guys at that Gazette publication who are urging him on with propaganda articles and videos) will learn the hard way because Afe Babalola was indeed defamed with unprintable words used in that book. Dele Farotimi was even invited prior to the police involvement but he FAILED to show up. Something just isn't right with some of these human rights activists. Some of the MOST notorious dictators in African history have been former human rights activists and lawyers who tend to have split personalities and are inflexible in critical thinking.

These people are so shallow and gullible that I can see why Nigeria is still in the situation that it is today. They thrive on rumors and innuendos. Here below are the first two pages of the court papers for the forfeiture of the said money in relation to the narcotics case of Tinubu.
Item 6 specifically stated thus:
"By reason of facts set forth above and the attached affidavit, there is probable cause to believe that the defendant funds represent proceeds of NARCOTICS trafficking and further represent property involved in money laundering in violation of 18 U.S.C 1956 and 1957. The defendant funds are therefore forfeitable to the United States pursuant to 21 U.S.C 881 and 18 U.S.C. 1981".

Item 5 gave a vivid narration of when the gang began their operation in 1988 and the name of the ring leader, Adegboyega Mueez Akande.

You can read the details in the attached poster of the court papers.

Now my bias mind. If truly Tinubu owns the money forfeited legitimately and the court claimed to draw such huge amount from his account. Why didn't he pursue the case and and get back his money. His refusal to pursue the case means in all material sense that the money was truly an illegal one.

I hope you will take time and read the attached poster and later apologize to BiafranPatriot for telling lie and also abusing him wrongly.

Having lived in the US for about 40 years, having gone through the US Federal Court and justice system myself, knowing many Nigerians who have gone through the judicial system for various, and also having a vast knowledge of the judicial system especially the Federal judiciary system.
I can tell you categorically that having a probable cause is not enough to convict anyone in a Federal court of law where the FBI will have to present their case.
Many people have been suspected of crimes but you have to be able to prove the case is court.
In fact Tinubu was NEVER CHARGED NOR ARRESTED FOR ANY DRUG CRIME.
That is the minimum for anyone to be considered a drug baron. He was barely suspected of knowing people involved in drug trade.

If you want to call someone a drug baron, you should at the minimum have record of them being arrested and charged to a court of law for drugs.
Tinubu had none.
I had at least 3 friends back in the days who were into drug dealing while i was in college but I have never seen drug with my naked eyes except for on TV.
Can you now say I'm a drug Baron just because I had friends who were into drugs or because I had my case with the US govt that has nothing to do with drugs but involved money?

According to the US laws , Tinubu is clean because he has never been charged, arrested or convicted of any crime.

Lastly and most important, the FBI or any Federal agency will NEVER EVER let anyone walk away free without charges and arrest if they have any good evidence on such person as being involved in the drug trade. Even if you give up 100 Billion dollars, as long as they can prove that the money are proceeds of drug trade, they will take the money and still make sure that the person still get tried and sent to prison for a long time.
