I did send them 2 emails explaining my situation and requesting an update but I did not receive any response and not sure if it even made a difference!

I bet you panicked at REFUSED STATUS? Did you do anything prior to APPROVED?

Hi guys, I am just providing an update on my visa to give hope to those who are still waiting. I submitted my passport for renewal on the 3rd of April and here is my timeline.

Submitted: April 3rd
App received: April 8th
Refused status: April 22nd
Administrative processing: May 6th
Approved: May 6th (no interview, I was praying to God everyday to change my refused to approved and he Delivered!!)
Issued: May 7th
Current status: Waiting for pick up mail

Overall, it took a little over a month to get here and I am sharing so those of you still waiting can have an idea of the current timeline for IW. Keep your faith and keep praying and It will surely come out!

No I am still waiting. It's odd that they haven't returned the passports at the very least. Not sure if anyone has any insight as to why there has been no passport pick up or info from the embassy since refused status for 8 business days!

Has anyone who got their visa approved since March 24th till date, (for F-1 visa (Fall 2025)) gotten the “Passport is ready” message?.

CEAC has been on “refused” (processing) for a number of Fall 2025 students. Anyone experiencing similar?

Honestly, this IW process has been not so straight forward. I believe we have all been waiting and just recently a few of us that submitted early April got refused (admin processing) status and now we are waiting on the next steps. I am not even sure if anyone has received issued for Lagos in the last month so the only thing we can do now is to wait. I am sure they will update your status soon but the problem might be after all this waiting there might be even more waiting lol.

Has anyone who submitted an IW application in recent time, particularly at the Lagos embassy been approved?

I’m asking because it seems the wait time in Lagos has been elongated. My mum’s application still says “application received” and it’s been almost 3 weeks now since it was submitted.

Does anyone have an inkling on what might be going on?
Has the process changed?
Are they considering scrapping IW Dropbox or something?

Hi, when did she apply and which consulate? Also when did you pick up the passport?.

Apparently after you pick up the passport you can log into AVITIS and you will see a notification for 221g appointment booking but these things vary.

Please my elderly aunt's passport was returned after a interview waiver application with instruction for her to schedule a 221g follow up appointment.
Please how do I schedule this for her? I'll appreciate if someone can explain how to.

Omg! Why would you do that? The chances that they will request an interview is extremely high and you have just put your status in jeopardy!! I think your only saving grace would be if your visa has not yet expired that way you can come back another time for renewal.

Just thought more about it...if they hold on to your passport then it might be game over

Mine is also F-1 but I am still in school. I am not in Nigeria presently, so I am afraid they will request for an in-person interview

Hopefully we hear something soon.. mine is F1 renewal on OPT so I have to return to work!

Hi Dixoxo.
Of course you are no more qualify for IW again because the strongest brick wall against qualification for IW is when you have been refused a visa before and now that you have been refused you are back to queue with fresh visa applicants until after you secure a new visa again.

You will be able to collect your passport this week (Friday) at your chosen pick up location but unfortunately you will have to start afresh by purchasing another MRV and securing another (physical) visa appointment date in order to re-apply.

They cannot hold on unto your passport (except if you have committed a bad visa offences or needed to be arrested) and with that they will have to lure you to the embassy not holding unto your passport.

NOTE: You have likely overstayed or abuse your previous visa or you misrepresented some information in your renewal - visa application (ds-160) in which the embassy cannot confirm. Wait until you receive your passport along with INA 214b (or 212 etc depends on circumstances) denial slip before you can finally decide your faith. 👍

Hi guys, after waiting since April 3rd my status changed to refused this afternoon. Can anyone give me any advise on how to go about this? I am guessing that I would have to go for a physical interview. If anyone can tell me the timeline it took for them to go for an interview after seeing this refused status. Did they return your passport or hold on to it? Did it take a week or two weeks? Did they call or email? Any info will be appreciated. Also submitted in Lagos.

@ Dixoxoxo. Did yoh track and did not get a message saying application received. Or was he saying to you that there was no data available for your status? It’s important that you also submitted in Lagos yesterday and tracking today. It says application received already. I know someone submitted on Friday and yesterday he had said application received already.

You’re not alone, my mum sent hers since 4th as well, no movement at all.
I think Lagos is just generally slow with processing. My mum’s last renewal was in Abuja, and it was fast. This Lagos one get as e be.

I sent my own in on the 3rd in Lagos and no movement till today....please pray for me!!

For Interview Waiver, Passport was dropped at OIS Tuesday, the 8th. Thursday, 10th status showed Aporoved, 11th it showed Issued. Today was sent email for collection. Hopefully in the next 5 years, avits would have improved or been a thing of the past as it is confusing

Hi, has anyone renewed visa through interview waiver recently in Nigeria: Lagos or Abuja this year. If so, please can you share your timeline from submitting your passport to getting it back. I scheduled premium pick up with OIS, does anyone know how many days it takes for the embassy to send to OIS?

Hi Guys, does anyone know what the timeline for receiving passport back when using Dropbox interview waiver?

I had an appointment for April 1st for Dropbox in Abuja and they rescheduled to the 7th so I rescheduled to Lagos for the 3rd of April. I am renewing my F1 visa and I am just wondering how many days on average it would take to get my passport back after submitting on the 3rd.

I appreciate any and all answers!
